Remove the cd drive in the back open it up and look for the lense it’s in the middle. You have the remove the top becket. Use a Q tip with alcohol and Clean it. This 💯 works I did it and it worked instantly after plugging it .
Most of the time you don't need to replace the dvd player. I opened mine up and cleaned the lens with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. Works like new.
This TL is an '05 or later because the hazard button has the airbag warning light above it and there is a message on the screen saying "check tire pressure." ('04s don't have TPMS sensors).This isn't an '04 like he said.

I had to use a CD cleaning disc and after that the navigation systme booted right up. The navigation disc is no good, but I use my phone anyway. At least now I can get into the settings and such whereas before I could not get past the "Please check your disc" message.

If you change the navigation drive in the trunk how do you get the navigation code. Great video.....I have a 2000 Acura Rl, the navi system screen, keeps blinking on ocassions. It drives my eyes crazy. It works, but just keeps blinking. I cleaned the dvd. My car runs well. I'm also having other electrical problems with key switch & door locks. The radio buttons on steering wheel, I change volume & channel changes, I change channel & volume changes. Hi George, When my 2007 TL starts, the zoom only zooms in and the audio button does not beep or give any visual. I can change the stations by using the presets or tuning left or right, but it does not show anything. at some indeterminate time in the future those two buttons will work properly. Personally I would start with trying to clean up the disc that's in the drive. If you have no luck with that I would try another disc. They're not cheap, but they're cheaper than a new drive unit(sometimes). If you do need to replace the disc you might as well buy an updated maps disc. I finally broke down and bought the 2014 update just the other day, after putting it off for years. It cost me $99 and another $12 for shipping and handling. I bought it from a place by the name of - HERE North America, LLC. The date was 7/30/17 . At the time all I could find was a 2011 update disc on eBay for $150. Good luck

But here's what I did. I got into the hidden screen and found my way to the Navi.ECU screen. There's a button there that says 'Mem Clear' - I'm wondering if that will reset the navi for a new user. Try to see if anybody selling used unit for parts on ebay, but your best bet is to buy another used one on a www.car-part.com thats where i get all my parts for my bodyshop.

Hey George, I have a 2007 TL type S, and my navigation screen doesn't really come on. Instead it pops up as a check board screen and doesn't load the GPS at all. Then it just goes out but everything else still works fine like my radio and cd player. But the screen does not come on nor display anything. Again when I start the car up it will light up and show the Acura home screen but from there the screen goes out into a black and white check board screen where I can't see nothing. So how do I fix that problem?

Abdul Yafai it's the disk reader, over time it develops dust over the lens inside the unit and the lens is not able to read the disk. You need to take the unit out and apart find the lens and clean it with a Q-tip and lens cleaner. There is a write up about it on Acurazine.com
HI all, I have an 07 TL. My screen is just completely blank. It happened before and it mysteriously went away. Then one day it just started working for about 6 months. Just as I finally catch up on my bills, it of course craps out on me and is blank again. I do hear the beep from the nav screen area that you usually hear when you start your car. I know there is a button on the bottom right of the screen that you press to start you program too. That still works when I press it but the screen is just blank. No background light whatsoever. I've been reading the fixes and it's either the dvd or dvd and dvd rom combo. Is my problem due to the same hardware too? I almost went and bought a salvaged navigation screen. I think I can manage to swap this out but now I'm a little concerned that I may be wrong in assuming the screen is at fault. I do not get any error indicating bad dvd or anything since the navi screen is blank. Going in reverse my camera is also dead. Stays blank. Any car stereo dudes that fixed this problem before?

If you need radio serial number press number one number 6 at the same time and then press power button that will bring up the serial number on the screen write the number down call Acura parts department and they will decode it for free. If you need navigation cold press map menu cancel at the same time and that will bring up a diagnostic screen if you have time watch a video I made on that.
I just repaired my 2002 Honda Accord Navigation system... The screen would go black on startup. Once in a while it would work okay, but usually it would not get past globe. I cleaned the DVD but nothing happen. A local Honda dealer's service department looked at it and estimated $4500 to put in a new Nav system. Screw that. I contacted Alpine Electronics, the original manufacture,. They said to removed the unit (which is simple to do...four screws and 4 plugs in the back) and sent it to them, along with a check for $358. Two weeks later I got the unit back, put it back in the trunk and the Nav system is now up and running again. Seems like Honda could have handled this, because I'm sure it happens a lot.
+George Melnik Thank you for commenting. Maybe I wasn't clear or I didn't understand your comment. The Honda dealership certainly has new units sitting on the shelf somewhere. They told me it would be $4500 to install one. The Kelly Blue Book value for this car is only about $4200 so it was offensive for them to suggest such a high price when surely they were aware of, and could have facilitated, a repair with Alpine Electronics rather than leave it up to me to discover on my own this cheaper route.
+Bob Hughes Bob, New car dealerships don't care about your feelings what so ever, all they want is you cash. Especially service departments. They try to hose you down for as much as they can. I will post video on how new car dealership service dept tried to charge me $2,500 in repairs that were never performed. They did not know who I was and did not know that i had any knowledge about cars and computers. After I showed them in their own shop that the repairs that they claimed they performed were never even touched they asked me to take my car leave and never to come back. This has happen to me in two major brand new car dealerships. This is the reason why I started this channel and trying to teach my audience as much as i can on small easy tips that could save a buck or two.

I have the same problem on the Nav display on my '05 Accord. The screen is blank, and it says "Please Check Your Disk" & I can't control the radio/music nor anything through the screen. I took the Nav unit out, cleans the Nav disk & still no joy so now I'm going with the CD Rom in my trunk. Hopefully that works.

My navi screen is blinking like the one in the video however it only does this when the ignition is fully engaged and the car is running. If I turn the ignition to auxiliary it loads fine and the map is displayed as it should be. I am starting to think it's clock spring related. Anyone have any ideas?

bought this one used- acura had to go to alpine who made the unit for the reactivation code once i got serial number off the unit in trunk itself .a coupe quick questions...is that reactivate code simply for when you lose power? and 2 - i cannot get the first owner's pin number to get the thing to recognise me and allow me to access anything nor to use the maps, how can i reset the personal pin number ? -and one last important question,,,,once u lose power to navigation unit, do you also lose use of the manual control of the climate controls ?
Yes, I'm having same problem. I don't care about the gps anymore, BUT the climate controls with fan speed, and "Economy AC" features are unavailable and more useful to me now.

Bro I save over 100k in just srs modules per year by having a software that able to reflash modules after accident. Normally they get tossed on average $450 to $850 per unit. That's not including other things that we never pay a visit to the dealer. Everything gets done in house. Do your math first before leavings offensive comment.

Sounds like your blue tooth module. Seats memory is totally different system.

Yes that will work but you will have 2 have disc out and have identical software on you flash card. If you copy the disc it will not work

pro tip. contact Alpine directly and they will refurbish/repair for $100. it comes back like new.

I have a 2005 acura 2005 can I put the navigation system in my car
Hey George, I have a 2007 TL type S, and my navigation screen doesn't really come on. Instead it pops up as a check board screen and doesn't load the GPS at all. Then it just goes out but everything else still works fine like my radio and cd player. But the screen does not come on nor display anything. Again when I start the car up it will light up and show the Acura home screen but from there the screen goes out into a black and white check board screen where I can't see nothing. So how do I fix that problem?
It sounds like ur dvd rom not reading maps dvd that is in ur trunk right corner

No it wasn't after i changed the battery a week later the screen went blank... I checked the trunk like u said ..bit when i press the eject button there is no disc
I have a '05 Acura TL and everything loads until I try to get the navigation portion. Its give me a "Please check disc, take to the dealership error. what should I do? My disc seems new and compatible.

+Skarlyn21 this happened to me. the problem is that the navi disc reader in the back isnt reading the disc right because the disc read is dirty. all you have to do is take that out and clean it and its fixed for life. im pretty sure theres a video on youtube showing you how to do it somewhere
I probably have clean the dvd at least 5 or 6 time but the screen stays black.
The radio and cd works just fine, the only thing u see on the screen is "Please check
your disc " writing in white in a green band ?
Then you have 2 replace your dvd rom unit
pro tip for folks. contact Alpine directly and they will refurbish/repair for $100.

Abdul Yafai it's the disk reader, over time it develops dust over the lens inside the unit and the lens is not able to read the disk. You need to take the unit out and apart find the lens and clean it with a Q-tip and lens cleaner.

HI all, I have an 07 TL. My screen is just completely blank. It happened before and it mysteriously went away. Then one day it just started working for about 6 months. Just as I finally catch up on my bills, it of course craps out on me and is blank again. I do hear the beep from the nav screen area that you usually hear when you start your car. I know there is a button on the bottom right of the screen that you press to start you program too. That still works when I press it but the screen is just blank. No background light whatsoever.
I've been reading the fixes and it's either the dvd or dvd and dvd rom combo. Is my problem due to the same hardware too? I almost went and bought a salvaged navigation screen. I think I can manage to swap this out but now I'm a little concerned that I may be wrong in assuming the screen is at fault. I do not get any error indicating bad dvd or anything since the navi screen is blank. Going in reverse my camera is also dead. Stays blank. Any car stereo dudes that fixed this problem before?

Yes press map menu and cancel and hold it for 20 sec that will bring up diagnostic screen. Go in to options there and teset it.

My 04 acura tsx navigation system just flashes off and on..sometimes it asks for the code when I start to put it in it shuts off. I have took out the disk and cleaned it, put it back in but nothing
It sounds like you have a bad head unit. Contact alpine there is a very good chance they will refurbish it for free
09 rl when the new year pass the clock change and now I can't ajust what happen.

i have tsx 04, my gps restarts like every 20 seconds.. it gets to the "ok" and restarts againg.... and that only happening when thr wethernis cold.... what do younthink is the problem?

What buttons does the dealer hold down so I can do it myself?
If you need radio serial number press number one number 6 at the same time and then press power button that will bring up the serial number on the screen write the number down call Acura parts department and they will decode it for free. If you need navigation cold press map menu cancel at the same time and that will bring up a diagnostic screen if you have time watch a video I made on that.
Press and hold 1 & 6 then hit power button.

Cleaned the DVD and bought a new one, both did not work.
I just repaired my 2002 Honda Accord Navigation system... The screen would go black on startup. Once in a while it would work okay, but usually it would not get past globe. I cleaned the DVD but nothing happen. A local Honda dealer's service department looked at it and estimated $4500 to put in a new Nav system. Screw that. I contacted Alpine Electronics, the original manufacture,. They said to removed the unit (which is simple to do...four screws and 4 plugs in the back) and sent it to them, along with a check for $358. Two weeks later I got the unit back, put it back in the trunk and the Nav system is now up and running again. Seems like Honda could have handled this, because I'm sure it happens a lot.

Thank you for commenting. Maybe I wasn't clear or I didn't understand your comment. The Honda dealership certainly has new units sitting on the shelf somewhere. They told me it would be $4500 to install one. The Kelly Blue Book value for this car is only about $4200 so it was offensive for them to suggest such a high price when surely they were aware of, and could have facilitated, a repair with Alpine Electronics rather than leave it up to me to discover on my own this cheaper route.

New car dealerships don't care about your feelings what so ever, all they want is you cash. Especially service departments. They try to hose you down for as much as they can. I will post video on how new car dealership service dept tried to charge me $2,500 in repairs that were never performed. They did not know who I was and did not know that i had any knowledge about cars and computers. After I showed them in their own shop that the repairs that they claimed they performed were never even touched they asked me to take my car leave and never to come back. This has happen to me in two major brand new car dealerships. This is the reason why I started this channel and trying to teach my audience as much as i can on small easy tips that could save a buck or two.

In your trunk rear right quarter panel there is a dvd rom open it eject dvd clean it or replace it.

George, you talked about the dirty dvd in the reader and then put the dvd playing face DOWN in the dirty trunk !!!!! You were not helping.... Why would you do that ???

Most likely you need a new dvd rom reader that is located in the rear right of the trunk
I have the same problem on the Nav display on my '05 Accord. The screen is blank, and it says "Please Check Your Disk" & I can't control the radio/music nor anything through the screen. I took the Nav unit out, cleans the Nav disk & still no joy so now I'm going with the CD Rom in my trunk. Hopefully that works.

I bought my tl without a disk how can i get one
My navi screen is blinking like the one in the video however it only does this when the ignition is fully engaged and the car is running. If I turn the ignition to auxiliary it loads fine and the map is displayed as it should be. I am starting to think it's clock spring related. Anyone have any ideas?
Did you ever figure out the solution to your problem. This is exactly the problem I have. Full ignition, Nav doesn't load. Accessory mode 1, Nav loads perfectly.

bought this one used- acura had to go to alpine who made the unit for the reactivation code once i got serial number off the unit in trunk itself .a coupe quick questions...is that reactivate code simply for when you lose power? and 2 - i cannot get the first owner's pin number to get the thing to recognise me and allow me to access anything nor to use the maps, how can i reset the personal pin number ? -and one last important question,,,,once u lose power to navigation unit, do you also lose use of the manual control of the climate controls ?
Yes, I'm having same problem. I don't care about the gps anymore, BUT the climate controls with fan speed, and "Economy AC" features are unavailable and more useful to me now.

Aristides Benavides you can call acura and ask for the code. They will ask you for vin number then they give it to you. It's free
Or you can go on the Acura website and do it. It's faster and free.

Hey there! I have a 2006 Acura TL and had the same problem. I finally decided to take it apart and clean the lens with alcohol and Q-tips. It actually worked. At least it now ask for the code. That's my problem now. I suggest giving it a try.

Bro I save over 100k in just srs modules per year by having a software that able to reflash modules after accident. Normally they get tossed on average $450 to $850 per unit. That's not including other things that we never pay a visit to the dealer. Everything gets done in house. Do your math first before leavings offensive comment.
