    This is really useful. I already pick dandelions and sticky weed but wasn’t very confident at identifying all the other plants.

    Wow.I forage alot but have been missing out on loads! Never considered hawthorn,cleavers or brambles. Mine love sow thistle, dandelion,sorrel,cocksfoot grass,apple leaves and bamboo leaves.

      @GuineaPiggles  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Vicky, great to hear that you forage too as there's so much great stuff to be had out there and another great thing about them is that they're not treated with fertilisers, pesticides or anything like that and much fresher too! Sow thistle and dandelion are real favourites with our piggies :)

    We are pig sitting 3 females for my daughters classroom over the summer. Considering getting 2 of our own when they go back. What im curious about is how much of their diet can be made up of grasses, flowers, etc. Everything i read says to give them only small amounts for treats and feed them only timothy hay, and i understand they should always have hay available, but in the wild their diet would be varied and not primary one type of hay, right?

    Could I also dry these foods after washing? So i can have some for winter? Or will that alter the nutritional value / make it not safe for them?

    Hey, quick question: My friend is having to give away her guinea pig and I’m going to be taking her. My friend said that they housed her with another piggy and they fought so they separated them and she said that now the piggy that I’m getting seems happy by herself and I was wondering if it’s okay to keep her like this if she seems happy or is it absolutely mandatory to have a pair? Thank you and love your videos!!

    • @GuineaPiggles
      @GuineaPiggles  3 роки тому

      Glad to hear you're loving the videos! :) We always recommend a pair. Some piggies don't get on with certain other piggies but if they have a really large cage, the right food, things to keep them happy and occupied and are kept clean there is a better chance they will bond.

    I just have a question. Can my guinea pig eat greenhouse grown green leaf lettuce? That was the only kind in the store so I had to get that kind.

    • @GuineaPiggles
      @GuineaPiggles  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, green leaf lettuce is fine and it won't make any difference that it's grown in a greenhouse :)

    Hi. I have loads of borage in my garden. I have found conflicting articles on whether it is safe to feed piggies. What is your opinion of borage?

    • @GuineaPiggles
      @GuineaPiggles  4 роки тому +1

      Borage is fine for guinea pigs but I would recommend small amounts of a variety of plants rather than a pile of one or two. That way they don't get a concentration of one thing that might not be good in large quantities - variety is the spice of life but everything in moderation :)
