Make oat milk in your kitchen with this recipe. It's absolutely plant-based and makes a great substitute for regular milk.

Ingredients
2 cups rolled oats
Method
1. Soak the rolled oats with 3 cups of water in a large bowl for 30 minutes.
2. Drain the soaked oats and transfer it into a blender jar. Add 3½ cups water and blend to a smooth mixture.
3. Strain the mixture through a muslin cloth into a large bowl.
4. Store in the refrigerator and use for upto 2 days.

The reason why I think they do the wash is to get rid off some of the starch in oats that gives the oatmilk a slimy texture and thereby making the milk not too thick for an enjoyable experience. However, this is not as efficient as starch cannot be removed properly without the use of enzymes(converting them into sugars!) and, since the oatmilk came out out to be thick from the video, I bet, the washing is not doing much. So to answer your question, yes, you can use the same water that you soak the oats in. Tl;dr, Yes, if you want! Sorry for the long comment..hv school 2mrw..byee

You must add amylase to avoid slimy texture. It's due to gelatinization of amylose & amylopectin.

Is any side effects of oat milk? I am drinking oat milk from 4 days and after drinking oat milk I feel gas, bloating, pain and yesterday loose motion starts.
I think raw oats did not suits me because we boil normal cow milk but for making oat milk we use raw oats.
