'Nougat' is the name generally used in Sweden for Viennese nougat, which includes nuts, usually hazelnuts, and cocoa.
just a note : the fazer company are not from sweden its finnish.
Geisha! SUOMI FINLAND PERKELE
They’ve acquired and created a bunch of Swedish brands throughout the years. Just like Mondelez/Kraft (owner of Marabou) is American but Marabou itself is Swedish.

@Anna Karl Fazer is a Finnish brand. If you don’t believe me, I found Karl Fazer personal history written on Fazer’s website. He thought of himself as a Finn, the company was founded in Finland, and is still operating from Finland. So Fazer is Finnish. I’ll put a link here. And also, we Finns are quite proud of Fazer, so we don’t like it when people say it’s Swedish. Sweden produces a lot of good candies and such, but Fazer is ours. Thank you. www.fazergroup.com/this-is-fazer/history--heritage/karl-fazer--portrait/
@Anna read the link about him, he is Finnish. Born in Finland, lived in Finland all his life, buried in Finland. It doesn’t get much more Finnish than that. That makes him a Finn, no matter where his parenta where born.
Swedish candy loves to play with flavours on the tongue. Sweet, sour, chocolate, licorice, melting, chewing or salty. We learn to appreciate the experience as kids. This is a thing in all Nordic countries. We all eat a lot of candy, because it has such huge variety and quality.
Carpet Climber yes we do
Nougat today is not what is use to be.
Hahah I love this. Lakrisal and Djungelvrål are some of my favorites 😂 Now I know how other countries feel when my boyfriend and I hate their favorites when making these videos.
Haha, just watched Sonny's video about Spanish candy part two, and got recommended this one immediately after, small world ^_^
But a lot of people in other countries really hate our salty licorice, I was quite surprised they didn't love Swedish chocolate though :O
Hahahha mina med!
Well we in Sweden love salty stuff.. Think Most others are wierd that dont like it xp
Va jag hatar lakrits

13:37 It's always funny to see the "tear of a corner way of opening" is totally unknown to most candy testers. Even when it pointed out the opening she managed to screw it up.
Lakrisal is actually one of my favorite types of candy (I’m swedish). However, us Swedes grow up with a lot more salt in our food and candy than a lot of other countries and we kind of get used to it
Hatar salt lakrits tho
This is the comment answer to what I was wondering. Makes sense as to why you’d like the salty and sours.
Jag hatar lakrits, men jag älskar annat surt och sött godis

What a fun box you put together for them! I am american and am eager to try other chocolate from around the world. I absolutely LOVE chocolate so the thought that there is better kinds out there is exciting! Hope all is well in Sweden ❤
Such an amazing box and I think everyone thinks so too by the comments!
Oh those truffle chips were incredible. One of the best bags of chips I’ve ever had. It would be dangerous if I could buy them here in the Uk 😂 ah thank you!
Ahh no way! Alex loves Mikkeller, he’s been to the one in Barcelona the one in LA and I think one more in Copenhagen maybe?!

Annas pepparkakor is usually paired with either milk, julmust or coffee.
The ballerina is almost always paired with a cup of coffee :)
A lof of people got fond memories of S-märken because they were (maybe still are) sold at indoor and outdoor public swimming pool kiosks. So most kids have eaten those since they were kids.
By the way, Lakrisal is heaven! ;) so damn tasty... but I guess it's a scandinavian thing
They are best with tea actually. But works well with either ones you mentioned. Except Julmust, because I don't drink kolsyrade drinks.
I eat my gingerbread cookies with blue cheese on. Amazing taste
I think the most common pairing for Anna's ginger thins is glögg other than julmust.

Scandinavian *_nougat_* is similar to what you would call _viennese nougat,_ basically finely ground hazel nuts or almonds mixed with oil and sugar. This gives a mellow consistency. The nut content is around 33% (while typical nutella type products has 2-3% nuts). It _may_ contain some cocoa or cocoa butter as well.
The white and chewy kind of nougat is called *_fransk nougat_* (french nougat).
I am kind of dissapointed that there were only one big marabou bar, that was not really the best flavour, if you ask me, they have that oreo flavour that you wished existed, it is a chocolate bar, like the one you tried, but with bits of the cookie in it, it's GREAT, you would probably LOVE it. Do we have any swedes here that knows what I am talking about?

Every Swede on UA-cam is here, being that we're really narcissistic. Swedes love hearing about themselves from other countries ^^
That is true... But still not nice...

Correct, we soak ourselves in compliments as if we had made the candies with our own hands haha.
If they tested Korean treats this thread had been full of Koreans commenting. People are interested hearing what foreigners think about their food and snacks. It's not about being narcissistic

I have family in Sweden and I live in Denmark. In my family, we eat pepperkaker with blue cheese. Don't knock it until you've tried it, it's absolutely amazing. But you can most definitely do tea or coffee with it. It's mostly eaten during Christmas!
And it's funny how you two hate liqourice. In Denmark and Sweden we eat a lot of it and it's my favorite type of candy - especially the salty ones!
Oooh now i wanna eat blue cheese squeece cheese and gingerbread men :p
We eat pepparkakor with blue cheese here in Finland too 😄 it is maybe the northern way as is liqourise and salty liqourise too.
We definitely do it in Sweden too :) I think gingerbread with blue cheese is a Scandinavian thing.. what about banana and curry pizza, do you guys have th e that as well? Apparently a lot of people around the country put banana in their tacos too zwhich might just be.....m
Argghh sorry the screen on my phone is justed and I can't write properly D:

First time watching your videos. This was SO much fun. Especially when you ate the salty candy. I have friends from UK and Ireland and met a lot of people from the UK and only one(!) really likes salty candy. She buys bags full every time she’s in Sweden.
So, I guess this is a very typical Swedish flavour. Me, I can’t live without salty candy. Love it! My favourite is actually a version of Gott & Blandat called Salt & Blandat. A mix of different salty candy, more or less (almost not) salty.
Thanks for entertaining.

As for Bilar, they where supposed to be marshmallows but in the factory it didn't come out the way it should have. But the taste was good and a factory worker thought they looked like Bugatti's. And the rest is history.
The larger variant got a proper marshmallow taste and I feel like puking every time I try them because I can't stand marshmallows but I love the normal variant of Bilar.

I love the djungelvrål but I can't find it in my state. A good friend sent me a package of it from Mälmö and I'm sad I'm almost finished with it.
The nougat you are familiar with is white nougat and the main difference is that it has egg whites in it that makes it more chewy, what you had here was brown nougat (or possibly german/Viennese) nougat that is softer and more chocolate like.
Oh, and the fish candy you got is not the one that the american candy is based on, the original is made by Malaco and come in a few different flavours, but not elderflower. :-)
Lakrisal and all other salty liqourice candy is delicous, the saltier the better! Ammonium chloride is delicious! :D
Yeah, I'm from Malmö where those elderflower fish are apparently produced, and I've never seen them in any of the supermarkets here. Must be from some small special candy shop somewhere.
I feel like I’m the only swede in this comment section who doesn’t like liquorice, hehe. It’s gross lol
It's always so funny yet surprising that americans or british people do not enjoy our salty candy. I've had them for so long I keep searching for even more saltier candies. Although I'm glad to see you guys enjoy our chips/crisps and cookies atleast. And you guys keep opening the "easy open bags" on the side rather on the top which they're meant to be opened xD
It's not really that surprising given how much salt we Swedes put on things compared to most other countries. We just get desensitised to the taste whereas that amount of salt is just complete overload to those not used to it.
Lost it at 13:30

Americans dont like salty licorice.. must be something in their DNA or something.. licorice is super popular in norway.
Agree..
Yes! You eat them until your gum is all sore! But I think as a child you have to learn how to appreciate it, and you challenge each other to eat saltier and saltier sweets. Like hockeypulver, like just salmiak powder in a box...
About 80% don't like it
I cant stand any other candy, it has to be salty licorice
We have about 80% of those candies in norway and I gotta say after watching this I'm suprised, people from other countries really have a bad time with sour and salty candies don't they. The salty licorice monkies are very good and I could gladly eat a whole bag, while most of the sweet candies are too sweet and, really, you can't eat a whole lot before going down.
Though great vid, keep it up. Next maybe try some common swedish and norwegian foods, I bet you'll be suprised.
more so about the "common" norwegian food rather then the swedish i would think
Salt-squad represent!
Yeah Hi.
I’m one of the ones who love Lakrisal. It’s a favorite because of the intense salmiak taste. I especially enjoy them during a certain week of the month as salmiak (liqurice) helps with the cramps. It was really fun watching but I have to wonder how the British candy tastes. It had to be different. Some of the things that were really salty or sour are candy that mostly everyone (that I know) likes. Maybe Swedes are more extreme with salt and sour stuff in food altogether.
Becca
Salmiak/salmiakki is just licorice with a fuckton of ammonium chloride

Lakrisal is actually made from the same stuff that goes into batteries. It's also used as a fertilizer and is made from hydrocloric acid and ammonia and breaks down into those components by time.

Fredrik Dunge no I live in England and moved when I was born in Sweden I know what nougat is coz there’s a nougat shop near my hiusw
As far as I know, Sweden and Finland REALLY appreciate licorice, including salty licorice - or "salmiakki" (Fin)/"salmiak" (Swe). I don't know about Sweden, but Finland like to add licorice and salmiak in basically everything edible including beverage. I like both as I grew up with them.
i could freakin live on tyrkisk peber ;) did they eat that in this video ? didnt watch the whole thing
Tyrkish peber is orginally from denmark and now its Fazers so its now Finnish. So not swedish candy.
lakritsal is weak compared.. tyrkish is much better... not much difference between candy from finland and sweden...
26:15 Haha this is so funny! I’m from Norway, and I love the Lakrisal! I think we may be more in to salty liquorice here up in the north than you are 😄
Haha yes definitely 🤣😆
20:01 we do have a marabou chocker bar that’s just with the choker biscuit part in it 🍪 😋🍪
The most things that you think are too hard are softer when they are newer. I am from Sweden
I'm from Sweden but I have never tried those truffle crisps 😳 guess I have got to
De är galet goda! Finns med parmesan också mmmmm...
Olivia Hah samma här
Olivia precis min tanke 😂
Olivia har bara provat sourcream & onion-smaken!! Måste också prova
Har inte heller testat dem men vill göra det, vart kan man köpa dem?
I'm from the Netherlands and I just absolutly love salmiak (salty liquorice powder) in any form! Lakrisals are one of my favorite candy's! Also dutch salty liquorice powder and other dutch liquorice with salmiak flavour!
In Sweden we often eat gingercookies with diffrent kinds of cheeses on top, my personal favourite is a little piece of brie and it just makes my day, and some glögg wich is a Swedish warm drink
I was so excited for this! My best friend is Swedish and we both sent each other boxes of our candies, I'm from LA and he wanted to try some things. Out of all the candy you've tried, I was only familiar with two items! 😂 Also, to address what Alex was saying, it isn't that hard to learn Swedish. He's taught me quite a bit of their language and I love how it sounds when they talk. Their culture is great. Fika? I mean, come on. That's amazing. This video was great!!
Kat Jacobo 😘 from ”en svensk”
Kat Jacobo FIKA!! 🍰🎂🍮🍨🍧🍪🍩🍫🍦🍬🍭☕️🍵
Fun fact: this particularly video of all the food videos have more then 10 times the views then the one with most of the others, the swedes sure are interesting.
We sure are!
lemon boy yes we are. Godiset de äter är supergott.
We usually eat Annas around christmas, but you can eat them with our Swedish “fika” it’s like when you sit down and eat cookies and drink lemonade or tea/coffee. Normal to do it like twice a day
Love Lakrisal and miss it and i miss all salty lickerish because I lived in the USA for 21 years ...wow my mouth is watering watching you eating all that wonderful candy and cookies...
I figure it is like this:
uk caramel = swe toffee
uk toffee = swe kola (smörkola) /butterscotch
uk fudge = swe nougat
uk "hard candy" = swe "karamell"
Yeah basically
some of the sweets are from Finland
Oscar V no?
@@celinawester2901 Yes?
Selma Rooz yes
Fatzer is a finnish brand.
Its the same across some countries
I am actually craving for this right now!
Swedish fish, the normal red ones we actually do have in our normal supermarkets. Swedish love their salty liquirish , so all those ones you tried that you found way too salty, like the sour ones that became salty afterwards, or those "battery ones" or the monkey ones, swedes love those candies. Same with Finns, swedes and finns love salted liquirish.
The real Swedish fish is Malacos fish
Yeeeees
21 savage The Swedish fish from Malaco is actually not from Sweden 🇸🇪, but The Swedish fish from Malaco is actually and original from The Capital of Denmark 🇩🇰, Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰 and The Company and The Factory 🏭 located in The City of Copenhagen and one factory 🏭 located in The City of Brøndby in Denmark 🇩🇰 and a other factory located in The City of Slagelse in Denmark 🇩🇰 my friend 🙂😎✌️
Jonathan Thomsen
But technically it's not Danish either since it was three brothers from Switzerland who created Cloetta.
Please stop using a lot of emojis in your text too, it hurts to read, no offense.
