I still need to finish this damn hack lol
Been working on the next patch for ages, taking breaks often because I'm at a point where I'm trying to make _all_ the sectors more open. It's hell for me to keep track of everything, but I make the changelogs as I go.
I won't give up on it though, this is a project I want to finish! The bugged map screen tiles and animation freezing in certain cases was fixed already thanks to others, so I might start by releasing that so it's at least fully functional while I work on the rest. :p

It's a really cool hack, thank you for putting so much effort into it! Good luck with the rest of it, I can't imagine the nightmare that is taking a linear game like Fusion and breaking it over your knee to make it much more open lol

As someone who uses a 20 Hz turbo controller for Metroid Dread speedruns, it would objectively be very funny if they capped the firing speed to like 8 Hz in a patch
What is a turbo controller? Im uncultured and first time i heard of it.

Seeing this hack of fusion, I take back everything I've ever said about SB for fusion lol. This looks really good and i would have actually done this with the actual game back in the day. Hope we get a remaster of Super and fusion one day.
I was so blown away at 2:16:29 when you jumped ONTO the computer console in the Navigation room. This hack is so great I am going to get it tomorrow! A much better version than vanilla imo.

A nice thing about the pinch & roll is that it isn't just for the family jewels, it's my preferred method to alleviate a persistent itch from dry skin or mosquito bites. 👍🏼

Watching adam talk about the X changing sector 1 made me realise something. Sector 1 (SRX) is based off SRX388. But the X originated from that environment, so it was already what the X needed so why would they change it? Small plot hole from Nintendo. Woulda been better to say they were trying to create hives, seeing as the atmospheric stabilizers made the X reproduce much faster than normal
The implication was later on that Sector 1 was set up as a perfect environment specifically for breeding *Metroids,* and Metroids don't necessarily share the same ideal conditions as X (for example, Metroids wouldn't last 5 minutes in Sector 5 (ARC) while X just don't care).
It's not that they couldn't breed in Sector 1 as it was, they were fine-tuning the atmosphere to breed *better*
Also if Sector 1 is based of the *whole* SR-388, different parts of it likely have somewhat different environment conditions (it's not like 99% of Earth is ideal for humans, for example) so it could also be an attempt to put the whole sector under same conditions

I learned that the walljump mechanic was always in the game, its a side effect of having screw attack without spacejump. so i think they added it to default samus and removed screw until the item is found.

As primarily a UA-cam content consumer, I don't mind TTS in videos. What gets on my nerves is when the streamer has a dozen different effects and their stream culture is their chat spamming them all the time. It's why I can't watch KarterFreak. Dude's a great guy and an awesome Dread runner but his content just isn't for me. But this video was great, I was in tears multiple times from the TTS, so I'm glad you had that going on.

Why does this look so crisp is there an upscaler in the emulator?
There's no bilinear filtering, so everything's overly sharp and looks like complete shit, imo.

@@samplerInfo well in all fairness, games like Metroid fusion aren’t even supposed to have that color scheme, since the GBA has a sort of washed out color palette that the games conformed to. What we see today is more like an overcorrection. Forget the specifics of it all, though I will say I think older pixelated games of this era look better with some screen filters to mimick the screens they wouldve been playing on, since they were produced around hardware like that.
I'm so glad this hack removes the absolutely disgustingly ugly red borders around blocks and makes the game more like super metroid, like every game should be.
Holy shit, it looks SO MUCH better without those borders, what was the reason for those anyway? to make platforms visible? Maybe on the actual gameboy made more sense.

Was playing the special edition hack of this game, which includes a sequence break to obtain plasma beam just before finding sa-x... Like I could beat that shit with just charged beams lol i have tried but it's almost impossible

the shitty thing about the MK8 DLC is the tracks being mostly copy-pasted from the Mario Kart mobile game 😬 can't say they look so hot
The fact that a lot of people can't tell the difference between Oats legit laughing (like he did when talking about turbo controllers being made useless) and the derisive sigh he had to let out when he realized the yoshi egg tts was going nowhere near funny...is kind of equal parts sad and funny.
