My son was gifted an '08 328i from my brother-in-law ... SO MANY little things like this need to be done, and I refuse to take it in ... your vids are life-savers!
I do 90% of all the maintenance on our vehicles, and I watch a lot of these videos to see if there are alternative ways to do something. However, I do appreciate your videos in particular because you are straight to the point, and I like that, so thank you.
Thank you! Your video was of great help working on this needlessly complicated air box! Used to be you had to undo a single wing nut to change an air filter.
All u had to do was clean the one that came out. They have a lifetime warranty. The performance filters like K&N etc... they not only filter better they also increase hp & mpg. Much better than paper. U recommend conventional oil over full synthetic?
Interesting I have a 2009 328 convertible I only have 13,000 miles on it. Bought it brand new in 2008 When I separated the halves on my airbox, there was a permanent filter attached to the side of the airbox that closest to the air mass sensor that’s part of the airbox In addition, there was the normal filter that was factory. It said BMW on it and since I’m the original owner from New, I know it’s been done to my car. I replaced that element that was still pretty with a MANN brand air filter The airbox in your video only had the one filter Check out other UA-cam videos and you’ll see that second filter in there
@@2carpros Yes and I see that k&n is like about 70 something dollars depending on where you live in the United States so I think I would stick the paper too because it's more affordable for me cuz I'm not trying to spend too much money on on my first E90
@@isrealperez9069K&N is fine, filtration isn’t really an issue because you have a second charcoal filter which will reduce more debris than what the K&N won’t filter. The charcoal filter was removed in this vehicle however.
Some may think that any idiot can change an air filter but after a decade working for Advance Autoparts I can tell you some people can't even identify it. Had a customer come in driving an early 70's Mercury Grand Marquis and told me that he needed "that thing that goes on top of the engine." (I facepalmed) "Can you describe it for me me," I asked. "Yeah, its round and goes on top of the engine." I probe further, "does it sit between to big metal plates?" "Yeah!" he responds. "You need an air filter?" I concluded. "Yeah! I need and air filter!" I couldn't help but think that he shouldn't be allowed within 100 yards of a car with a screwdriver.

Excellent!
Thank you, really needed this
Glad it was helpful!
The ridiculousness of this, just to replace an air filter. Got to love the engineering involved for that!
Yep! Thanks for watching!
Awesome, thanks alot, saved me a ton of money!
Great to hear!
Excellent instructions. Thank you!
Thanks for everything you do.
Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for watching!
I have an E90 2011. Love my car. Expensive to have worked on but it drives really well
At the same time it is good idea to clean the MAF sensor.
Good job .Bravo

How do you clean the aftermarket filters? I assume you would need to soak them in some sort of detergent for at least 24 hours?
@@danielnashid9008i’ve just cleaned mine with soap and let it air dry then once dry spray it down with the air filter oil

You're welcome!
LOVE YOUR SHIRT also
Thank you!
Why couldn't you use k&n
I just prefer stock paper, I think they do a better job at keeping dirt out of the engine. Thanks for watching!

I cut mine out, just like the one in the video. I never thought to clean it lol

Open the Filter box and find a Pre Filter, fixed can’t change? Sucks!
Man way to many stupid bolts to take off, they should've made it easily service without taking out tools
