#BMW #M550i #5Series
Chris, I’ve had mine for just about a month. Had an 2008 M3 manual and my other car is a 2012 991.1-manual. The M550i is my daily driver and it’s the perfect blend of performance, luxury and technology...BMW nailed it. The dealership had a 2019 M5 available and I was tempted, but in the end since I had the 991 at home, didn’t need another “toy.” Love your reviews, direct, informative, to the point, no messing around. Thanks!
Thank you, Ajit Pillai. We appreciate your comments and support. And congrats on the new car. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for letting us know what you own.
Its been a couple of years, do you still like the M550
Just found your video. Hands down best presentation on YT! Just bought one used and it is amazing.

Excellent review!
Thanks for watching, Nova!
One of the best, in depth reviews on the internet. I’d like your take on the 2018 Lexus LS 500. I think their infotainment system is crap .
Thank you, Rolfy Tumeric. We're working on getting a few of the latest and greatest from Toyota/Lexus so make sure you're subscribed so you'll be notified when we do. We appreciate your comments and thanks for watching!

This car is a bargain. Hidden gem in a segment full of options.
what's that I see at 7:42 mark? Is it... no it cant... a functioning and well applied blinker? I can't believe it!
😂 Yup, in every one of our videos, zenunogoncalv. Safety first! Thanks for watching!
Nothing can compare with a BMW! Good job man
Thanks for watching, Lucian Mot!
Especially that 4 circle VW....
This presentation actually made me say "hummmmmm". I'm a Mercedes-Benz girl so I'll remain loyal...loyalty loyalty loyaty! Nice car. I'm surprised I don't see more of them on the street.
Awesome review of a fabulous car, keep up the great work :)
Thanks for watching, Alex C.!
The 2020 M550 gets a huge HP boost and drops 0-60 to 3.5. Also gets the newest iDrive so the differentiation gets smaller and smaller. The M550xi is a much better value but you can't get away from the fact that an M5 is an M5.....
Its just that the m5 is not that much more expensive for an expensive car so you just might go with the m5 and not wonder what you are missing :D
I've been driving and racing BMW'S since 1984 I've never had a unreliable one yet, not at all I'm still a hard driver and I prefer driving over playing with buttons but I'm a stereo guy to I like my music. Sorry a lot of the cumputer, electronics once I set if it stays it stays
wish we could get this in the UK. We have to live with the 540i xDrive Touring
Great review and excellent video, thanks a lot man !
Thank you, Veroniciany Veronica. We appreciate your comment! Feel free to check out some of our other reviews and subscribe, too, if you haven't done so already. Thanks for watching!
Great car. Overpowered for not being a full M car.
Not to mention you will able to chip this and make more power. But this car will be a great buy few years down the line when the prices drop heavily for it.
We agree, Toyota4Life. Thanks for watching!
Those look like "AG" brand jeans you were wearing. Tell me if I'm right.
Ha! Nope. Chris said Old Navy. Thanks for watching, Exquisite Vidz!
@@AutoAcademics my bad! Great review though!
Nicely done!
Thanks for watching,

I've noticed two things in that car that are missing so far. In Australia we have the full digital dash speedo cluster and do you get the display key?
Daniel Triantopoulos Hi, Daniel Triantopoulos. This car does come with the display key, but BMW doesn't trust us journalists with it. LoL. Thanks for watching!
What about the full digital dash cluster can that be optioned as well?
Daniel Triantopoulos This particular car was fully loaded, as far as we're aware, so there aren't any other displays that can be had. Hope this helps!
AutoAcademics ohh right. Yeah i’ve seen the G30’s here in Perth Western Australia and those speedo clusters are full LCD screen so the rev number and MPH or KM/h gauge are a screen and not printed.

Isn’t the light laser and not led ?
Keep up the good work, but you would appear more engaging without the sunglasses, just my 2 cents
We honestly appreciate the feedback, Autochecker Chris, and we'll see how we can balance better engagement with Chris not losing his eyesight (or at best, squinting) from the sun -- one of the challenges we deal with working outdoors. But we'll take that over the rain any day! Again, thank you for your comments and for watching, too!
AutoAcademics thanks for the prompt acknowledgment, you guys are a serious bunch and we appreciate that!
Thank you, Autochecker Chris. We appreciate you, too!
I'm sure Chris realizes how gimmicky some of these BMW's features are. The gesture controls and self parking options are over the top. Overall this car is a great alternative to the M5.....for now at least.
The volume gesture control is great for those who don't want to lean in every time to touch the screen or the knob.
chancy319
That is a very tiresome exercise to be sure. If only BMW engineers had thought to put audio controls on the steering wheel in close proximity to the drivers fingers. That would seem to involve less muscle movements than hand gestures which rely on hand, wrist, forearm, and shoulder manipulation.
That is very true. You are right. I forgot about the steering wheel controls. In that case, it does seem like a gimmick because I can't think of any other scenarios where it will be more useful than the screen, knob or steering wheel. All it is now is a point of price increase and added maintenance.
chancy319
I can't tell you how many times I leaned over to use my infotainment system and found myself lightheaded from the exertion. Gesture controls could lead to an increase in carpal tunnel injuries. Yikes....I better stick to the steering wheel controls.
LOL You guys are cracking us up!
Which one did you like more e43 or 550i?
The E43 was a beautiful car, but the M550i was very engaging and powerful. Definitely more enjoyable performance from the Bimmer. Thanks for watching, ijaz ahamed!
Nah the first was the M540i back in 1995, nice review I felt for the clickbait dude
Hey, L Renaud. I guess that is a case of semantics, since we're in the U.S., dealing with U.S. cars, and the M540i was a Canadian-only car. But good catch, either way. And sorry you felt our title was click bait, seeing as how it began with "2018 BMW M550i xDrive Review." Oh well. We're happy you still enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
AutoAcademics uh very true my inner geek forgot I was Canadian... Iirc we had a "m package" F10 m550 ... At least in this freezing hole we call Canada.
I love your review style, I wish you all the views!
Thanks, L Renaud. We appreciate your support!
Nice Jacket...
Ha! We'll let Chris know, Fromthefuture. Thanks for watching!
Don't drive any new BMW period. They will break as shit. They're so UNRELIABLE. Get Toyota or Lexus.
Yeah, sure because Toyota has a model that could compare to that... Who cares if they're unreliable, most people lease them. If not, well, that's a 90k car so you should be able to spend a few grands a year to maintain it.
Simon Vuille Yeah I guess they're the type of car to lease.
Don't buy if you cant affort, else you are buying a great car. You got to pay to play.
Simon Vuille Lexus LC500
being a german car today is like being black in Oklahoma in the 50s

wasn t on alexus that famous case where the accelerator got stuck and a family died while calling the emergency?
BMW not a reliable brand and resale value is HORRIBLE......I HAD one......
Gregg Que
It is not a secret that cars depreciate in value. Even some supercars depreciate too. Stop making it sound like only BMW depreciates. As for reliability, there will always be problems with our hi-tech modern cars. Every brand on this planet has an issue here and there with their cars. It's not just BMW. The problem is that when people encounter a reliability issue with a car, they are quick bash the whole brand as sh!t. You yourself have had only one BMW, and yet here you are concluding that the BMW brand as a whole is an unreliable brand! I think that's unfair.
After owned 3 BMWs, I have to say if you really really really want a BMW, lease it, and save some holidays for bring the BMWs to dealers, and after 4 years, get rid of them as soon as possible --- no matter how low the millage is. But overall the BMWs are pieces of crap. REALLY.
weird I've owned 6 bmw's and have never had an issue with any of them, no mechanical no electrical issues and no big or small parts inside or out. I guess you got lemons.
same here, aside from a 30$ camshaft sensor, never a single issue either. I agree no one should own a car like that that's not under warrantee, as anything breaking down will cost an arm otherwise. If you get a used 90k car for 40k and can't afford replacing parts, it just mean you can't afford the car. You should never bet your savings that you'll get away with no breakdowns, it's just bad financial decision.
@@petaujus3000 finally some one with some common sense
To bad it’s a BMW
