He definitely has a ton of potential just with so many different tools while clearly having high damage, invincible DP reversal option, very interesting and useful projectiles, great drive rush, etc. His kit is interesting with no normals being plus on block (but still not being that negative either except on like the target combo) but he has the ability to cancel specials from the heavy shoulder rush(or whatever it's called) and a lot of his specials are plus on block when spaced. I wanted Terry to be upper mid tier, so I'm glad to hear that's where you feel he is at. A lot of people think they're gonna win a million dollars online if they pick top tier so at least with Terry, I probably won't have to go through 70% mirror matches after the new character hype dust has settled.
I play Terry for the same reason I've been playing Manon, it was never about them being good; they just did something that was fun and that was all I needed.
I'm not good at SF6, but I think Terry is in the same spot as Rashid, when he released. He's really strong, but not as straight forward as the top tiers. So, people are noticing his weaknesses right away, but his strengths are going to take a little more time to figure out. It might take even longer for Terry, because Rashid had pro character loyalists from SFV and came out after the first month or two of the launch. I don't know if any pro player is willing to put in the time for Terry "Fatal King of Fury Fighters" Bogard. But, I won't be surprised if in the next season he becomes Top 3 or even Top 1. After all the top tiers get at least slight nerfs and Terry's weaknesses get buffed. He's a secret high tier that's going to be treated like a mid tier.
I think Terry has potential, but he doesn't have like a Rashid lvl2 or Ed lvl2 to really elevate him to top tier, which is okay honestly, not every character has to be busted.
The character being middle average implies good balancing. Also the character being fun is what matters anyway. People said Rashid wasn't that good at release either. I think Terry will still take a month or two for us to realize his full potential.
I remember Big Bird saying Rashid was mid, and SF5 Ed mains kept telling normies he was trash in SF6. People need to stop taking week 1 opinions of pros as gospel.

“ARE YOU OK!!???l 😆…as a spectator, his voice lines are fun to mimick. As a player, he’s SO MUCH FUN. Might be player experience that determines that outcome bc I’m a Luke main and Terry feels like his vengeance homie getting justice for being so nerfed. Been using him from the start and sometimes it takes a minute to main Luke again just cuz of Terry’s capabilities. I put him at B tier myself, he makes you improve inputs bc of his timing which only helps makes my overall experience w SF6 that more interesting 🐺👍🏾
Every time I play Terry, I feel like I'm playing on a Walmart Dee Jay, slower drive rush with short heavy punches, and has no plus on block buttons, no jus cool swaying but get crack shoot to dodge the throw and lower attacks, he also has 6 frames start up crouch medium punch, which is very familiar to a Dee Jay player, awesome juggles with fat damage, and better yet, a cancellable crouch medium kick, which make me feel illegal and guilty for pressing it and get a fat combo with it, welp I guess I will keep playing Terry then, as long as his juggles are 🔥enough.
Hearing that Terry isn't broken was the same as I felt when I heard 2B also wasn't busted in GBVSR. Thank God. I don't like having to pay the crossover character tax. I really did not wanna get my dues for the war crimes T7 Akuma was doing. So it's good to hear that we aren't in the "they're a crossover character they have to be busted beyond belief" thing.
As someone who’s been playing Ryu since day one, he feels pretty similar in what he’s trying to do. Of course the neutral more involved since he doesn’t have the gorilla button, but the feelings he’s giving me are comparable.
I can agree he’s not top tier but I still think he’s pretty damn good and is mad fun to play as always. I am also very used to him in kof so there’s a lot of times where I want to power dunk without the target combo or I’d jump mid pressure thinking I could short hop lol but I’ve also always liked throwing out power waves when I get a knockdown and following up with burn knuckle so having the extra frame advantage for properly spacing it feels very nice
3:19 Exactly my thoughts on him after the first few days. Like Akuma, Ken and Ryu feel so brainless in comparison and it's because they are, especially Akuma who will just play the game for you half the time, Terry doesn't really have any of that.
yeah, Terry does the damage for you, but maintaining pressure without any + frame buttons or oki seems far more difficult than akuma safejumping off every touch and just looping the same couple of options
He's a 4 button character in a 6 button game. Good move by Capcom making his additional attacks NOT op. But they still seem pretty effective for what they're intended to be used for.
After palying Manon, Akuma and Aki he feels like he has a ball chain on his leg. His normals linger for a decade if they whiff and opponent can go to raise a son, plant a tree and build a house and still have a decade to get back to the game and whiff punish.
@@jesse76th96 dont use standing heavy kick to poke. its genuinely not that good as a neutral button. who gives a fuck how big it is. its for whiff punishing certain things and doing it in combos. poke with his giant lights, 5mk, 2mp
if you're going oh dude these buttons have such huge recovery thats probably because you're not supposed to use them when they can get punished that easily. use the buttons with faster recovery. he has them. he just cant spam standing heavy punch like ken and akuma.
I do find it a little sad that the game doesn't really reward technical characters. It's kinda why I really like watching Chun players, because it's rare for people to invest into very technical characters, but that makes them fun to watch. But I don't think it's an easy problem to solve because the game wants to be approachable for new people.
Execution used to be a requirement for top tier nonsense...like in street fighter alpha, akuma was top tier but his executions was hella difficult. In sf6 though you can just spam his air game brainless....very strange disparity.
Broski and Mc Mura the smartest 2 SF content creators in the FGC right now, idgaf. Broski is the KING of valid SF 6 takes. As for Terry? He feels like male Chun Li. He's technical like her, requires you to get in the lab, and to me he's kinda telling people this is where the game is going. That braindead shit is bout to be washed up.
I feel like he got nerfed a lot after the trailer, like in the trailer he was super broken, but then they nerfed him a little. So it might just be another case very similar Geif drive rush.
I said the same thing to my girlfriend the night of his release "he has all the things you need to be good in this game, just not the best version of them", I think that perfectly describes Terry rn
I like how no ones really complaining about Terrys relative power but all i see is people complaining about people complaining about Terrys relative power.
He could be top tier but he is fun and interesting, he plays a very heavy footsie game and while his pressure game is not ridiculous, it doesn’t need to be with how he can cover and play more ranges. Let’s see how he develops and one sure thing is that he is fun
I feel people always are like “this really strong character isn’t that strong” on release. Then months later they are the among the most used characters in tournaments
For me, Terry has lots of combo paths to fit him any favor he wants, but fundamentals r much more prominent to make the most out of him. At least he's not another happy spamming like other top tiers is fine to me (Looking at u Akuma n' Bison)
Terry’s is hard to get use too. And he only has three approaches: MP, MK, and HP. I think Capcom knew if they kept his KOF quirks, no SF6 contender could survive. So we get this homage version of Terry, who is really cool, but predictable in approach. I think this time round Ken has the best design choices. He is gonna give the CotW contenders their money’s worth, mainly because Ken doesn’t need DI or DR to play good.
dhalsiim usually does decent or good vs shoto, but it seems he will struggle vs terry. can't slide under fireball, and his float gets hit by his blue hand charge (despite it looking like it is well beneath him, same as bison charge) Basically, sim is at the mercy of having to play purely reactive, which is usually a death sentence in this game (especially with that nasty burnout blockstring and sim having no reversal) Basically, I wouldn't be surprised if terry covers different match ups than the other shotos and will remain strong in that regard even if he turns out to be mid (his dmg and tools are top tier imo)
ur all wrong. the reason Terry is bad is: his rising tackle is a DP input instead of a vertical charge input. also he needs his command grab from Fighting EX Layer
I don't know if he's strong or weak. What I know is that he's the first character in the roster that has made intuitive sense to me. And I'm not sure why that is. I have played him since Fatal Fury but he's not really that similar to past versions without the movement options.
Terry is my favorite fighting game character so I really don't care if he's good or bad. Also I mained Jamie up until this point so it's only up from here!

He won't be top 1 he's way too easy to Drive impact compared to Rashid
I think Terry has potential, but he doesn't have like a Rashid lvl2 or Ed lvl2 to really elevate him to top tier, which is okay honestly, not every character has to be busted.
Personally, I feel like Terry is the most Terry in Street Fighter 6 character that's ever been put in the game.
this title is a banger.
The character being middle average implies good balancing. Also the character being fun is what matters anyway. People said Rashid wasn't that good at release either. I think Terry will still take a month or two for us to realize his full potential.
The only problem i have with terry is his face design. It really looks like they chose someone who hates terry to design his face 😭
I remember Big Bird saying Rashid was mid, and SF5 Ed mains kept telling normies he was trash in SF6.
People need to stop taking week 1 opinions of pros as gospel.
0:23 holy the lv2 damage
0:55 100%
3:25 lol yeah he’s not as braindead on the surface as say akuma n stuff
4:15 interesting
5:19 true crackshoot does stuff on that being a kinda fast -3 special that leaves you close
9:01 i hear that from a bunch, not all that satisfying to me but still cool
He got cool stuff yea
Terry burnout is completely uninterruptible except with lvl 1 super you say? {cries in Dhalsim}. Been getting abused by this a bit.
I put him at B tier myself, he makes you improve inputs bc of his timing which only helps makes my overall experience w SF6 that more interesting
🐺👍🏾
Bro wtf hes fun ass hell brought me back to sf6
He's ok and I'm having fun with him, but I can't imagine me dropping Akuma for him.
2 things to add: Punish counter crmp can link into H Power Charge and his smp shp tc is freaking broken.
After palying Manon, Akuma and Aki he feels like he has a ball chain on his leg. His normals linger for a decade if they whiff and opponent can go to raise a son, plant a tree and build a house and still have a decade to get back to the game and whiff punish.
Use different normals in neutral.
@@mattb6616 what
@@jesse76th96 dont use standing heavy kick to poke. its genuinely not that good as a neutral button. who gives a fuck how big it is. its for whiff punishing certain things and doing it in combos. poke with his giant lights, 5mk, 2mp
if you're going oh dude these buttons have such huge recovery thats probably because you're not supposed to use them when they can get punished that easily. use the buttons with faster recovery. he has them. he just cant spam standing heavy punch like ken and akuma.
His combos are sick, and he can easily take off over half of your health.
the thought of Terry not having his 2 hit close stand C sounds so nasty.
I will be curious to see if people find micro-walk setups so that you can do two drive rush cancels into Level 2+
"Not reward infesting techincal character" Meanwhile Rashid and ED
Broski and Mc Mura the smartest 2 SF content creators in the FGC right now, idgaf. Broski is the KING of valid SF 6 takes.
As for Terry? He feels like male Chun Li. He's technical like her, requires you to get in the lab, and to me he's kinda telling people this is where the game is going. That braindead shit is bout to be washed up.
6:39 i may have to buy Jerry just because of the way he says "yea babyy"
Seinfeld DLC pack coming soon
I feel like he got nerfed a lot after the trailer, like in the trailer he was super broken, but then they nerfed him a little. So it might just be another case very similar Geif drive rush.
I said the same thing to my girlfriend the night of his release "he has all the things you need to be good in this game, just not the best version of them", I think that perfectly describes Terry rn
The thing that still surprises me most is how easy and cheap these high damage combis seem
Pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I do think its strange they made the easiest ever snk character more difficult than most of the cast lol.
5:45 Don't DPs stop it since the move is considered airborne?
I am having fun with Terry but the combos are pretty awkward for me of course I will learn it.
My character rating is purely based on fan factor and I would say he is a good character 😊
I feel people always are like “this really strong character isn’t that strong” on release. Then months later they are the among the most used characters in tournaments
Im glad he doesnt play like the shotos and he's not busted from the start. I would much prefer this over Bison and Akuma balance as a normal player
The downplay so quick they got it on wake-up
For me, Terry has lots of combo paths to fit him any favor he wants, but fundamentals r much more prominent to make the most out of him.
Thanks 🎉
He's fun with his weird combos.
I will purchase and proceed to master Mai entirely for non-gameplay reasons, tierlists shall not affect me
I love this topic. People complaining he isn't pay to win. Then ppl complain when they aren't.
It's crazy.
I main Jamie and I'm confident against him. But a well optimized Terry is scary.
dhalsiim usually does decent or good vs shoto, but it seems he will struggle vs terry. can't slide under fireball, and his float gets hit by his blue hand charge (despite it looking like it is well beneath him, same as bison charge) Basically, sim is at the mercy of having to play purely reactive, which is usually a death sentence in this game (especially with that nasty burnout blockstring and sim having no reversal)
Basically, I wouldn't be surprised if terry covers different match ups than the other shotos and will remain strong in that regard even if he turns out to be mid (his dmg and tools are top tier imo)
I play Terry because he's cool and has great sound design. Nothing else matters
Stable, I think that's the word to describe Terry
We gots to know🐺
ur all wrong. the reason Terry is bad is: his rising tackle is a DP input instead of a vertical charge input. also he needs his command grab from Fighting EX Layer
All I can say is, they said Blanka was weak.
I don't know if he's strong or weak. What I know is that he's the first character in the roster that has made intuitive sense to me.
And I'm not sure why that is. I have played him since Fatal Fury but he's not really that similar to past versions without the movement options.
he may not be strong against the top tiers, but damn hes the most fun character in a while
He pretty much has juri fireball without charge
What? Juri’s fireball is a motion input.
@@davidclout6286 I think by charge he meant fuha stocks
He meant charge as in the stock you need for the fireball. @@davidclout6286
Yeah except for the fact that Juri fireball has only 1 variation and its much worse than Terry’s.
@@arpadszabo661 Juri's is way better to drive rush behind, you can't really drive rush behind Terry's except OD
I like him. Personally, I have a sneaky suspicion people will be calling him top tier in the coming months. He just...feels top tier.
He's fun and that's all that matters the end
Terry is my favorite fighting game character so I really don't care if he's good or bad. Also I mained Jamie up until this point so it's only up from here!
Bro he's cracked.
Terry being upper a tier is optimal. Exactly where i want every character. Need the s tier a little, buff Honda Manon lilly
