From that position, shooting the guy is a plausible knee-jerk reaction. Plus, it's Mos Eisley, so not exactly swarming with cops just itching to jump in and grab anyone who starts trouble... in a hive of scum and villainy, it'd be everyday stuff. Silly George, you can't please Star Wars fans. You can only satiate them until they notice another error. Like the fact that Darth Vader reverts to his 22 year old self after dying. What's up with that?
Sounds contrived. If good people become force ghosts, and he redeemed himself before dying, wasn't he good then? Heck, do force ghosts really need to look like they did in life? If I was Anakin, I'd make myself look like... not Christian Haydensen. But I guess that's personal preference.
Because Han shooting first is an additional insight to his character while greedo shooting first ruins your imersion in the movie considering he is a bounty hunter paid for killing people who died by missing a target sitting at the table in front of him and getting his own deflected shot in the head. It makes the interaction meaningless it makes the possibility of death even more ridiculous and it makes jabba look less threatening before we even see him in his first scene.
sorry but, that only "ruins" the imersion for poeple who thinks such a minor change could actually change anything about the characters and the scene. I mean, its a scene during half a second, get over it

According to the comics and books, Greedo was a newcomer to the bounty hunter game, and wasn't that skilled. So I assume that Jabba KNEW Greedo would more than likely bite it, and sent Greedo as a message to Han, a sacrificial lamb. Then again, maybe I'm overthinking it.
@103122636855519320772 I think one of the Tales stories mentions jabba sending greedo to die, though those are sort of less canon(and of course none of it's canon now). still, i don't think greedo is THAT dumb that he would just forget to not kill han. at this point, the bounty must have been dead or alive
The fact that none of it is canon at ALL depresses me to no end. Fuck Lucas. No Mara Jade, NOTHING. I think Greedo was just cocky, and spent too much time talking, which allowed Han to blast him away. Of course, now Han's little headslide is canon...*Sigh*

The Open Rift The CGI changes are so subtle you don't even really notice the difference. I think he removed the extra Jabba scene, but I'm unsure on that one. No not really. I would still see Han Solo as a con artist and a scallywag. It didn't matter who shot first, because in the end The characters would remain the same. The issue about changing it to Greedo shooting first or at least what I think is the fact they edit Han Solo's head to move away from the shot is kinda weird and tainted. George Lucas always felt the films are always unfinished and the fans are tired of his additional changes.
see, look at this man that you call a hero. first I just try to negotiate things peacefully, I made no movement whatsoever to indicate I would shoot him, and he blast me and then goes overkill on me! and then watch what he does afterwards! he killed me for spite!
I heard that in the script for A New Hope, Han and Greedo were supposed to fire simultaneously, but didn't due to a post production error or something. Then George changed it to Greedo shooting first, and in the latest edition they shoot simultaneously.
It's kind of sad how people nowadays are giving far, far more shit to Lucas for editing his movies than....you know, some kind of credit for actually CREATING Star Wars.
Thank you!! Someone gets it! Really, all the complaining and hate over edits made to the movies are MUCH more annoying than any of the issues being complained about. Sure, some edits are a bit unnecessary, but there've been plenty of good alterations to the films too.
The fact that he's so out of touch with what made his original creation special is absolutely deserving of hate. It's a hate born of disappointment and disillusionment, and so is far more insidious than a hate born of up front annoyance or disgust - or even pain. It seeps into the soul of the Star Wars fan, and bonds to the very midochlorians of their being, ripping them apart from within. Ye. His edits are pain, and his Star Wars are tainted. Beginning, but not ending, with Greedo shooting first.
@@Gyarretto7 The fact that you're saying "finally someone gets it" to a comment that basically says "stop being mean to George Lucas, you meanie-heads!" shows that you don't understand WHY people hate the change. Han Solo was originally a lone-wolf anti-hero who was willing to kill someone for personal gain. But over the course of the trilogy, he grew into a much better person. This ruins his redemption arc and turns this character-establishing moment into just an act of self-defense. But, whatever. Carry on with your "just consume products" mindset and dismiss all criticism as "complaining". Hope you like being socially outcast for your immature behavior, you reality-blind fanboy.
In 31 December 2015 before the new year. It's the day that I know Han Solo dies, gone and forever. Not gone as Han-who-always-shoot-first but Han the father who want to stop his son from his own madness. We will remember you buddy...(sniff) you may not a jedi but... May the force be with you, Han. Goodbye... my friend.
One of the theories is that George Lucas didn't want Greedo to shoot first either but was being pressured by the MPAA. This is supported by George wearing a "Han Shot First" fanmade t-shirt when shooting that one Indiana Jones movie that never happened
Star Wars is in a very dark time at the moment (Disney classing everything but the films non-canon, and whatnot). I just hope that JJ can bring some light to the franchise.
frankly companies have been going so far with telling us something is canon or noncanon anymore that it really doesn't seem to matter. If I enjoyed watching it and they don't try to wipe it from existence when they claim it's noncanon I could care less.
Here's the thing. The original still exists. He can't take that away from you. Though if he wants to release a million slight variations, then he's free to do so. It's not like some soulless production company with control. What he wants for his creation, is not what you want for it, and he's the one in control of the property. If you don't like that, then I guess you'll have to buy the rights. Now that I think about it. I'm surprised there actually hasn't been a huge fan effort to buy the rights...
MarxForever Star wars is a hollow shell of what it once was. The only way you can get the original is by VHS from 1995. Those slight variations you talk of are major variations that ruin the films. Star wars is dead, Lucas killed it.

I heard that in the script for A New Hope, Han and Greedo were supposed to fire simultaneously, but didn't due to a post production error or something. Then George changed it to Greedo shooting first, and in the latest edition they shoot simultaneously.
Han Solo needs no provocation, LOL!!
Lucas doesnt give a rat's ass what Star wars fans think
That's how Han Solo do, man. That's how Han Solo do...
I could've gone without knowing that George Lucas stans were a thing.
Bear dwarfs are Jar Jar of older movies, someone shooting them like that would make it so much better.
Please, love me. Love me!
beautiful
I hope someone shows this to George Lucas, preferably clockwork orange style.
+Jesse Woolridge i get the refrence
that plot twist ending was golden
lol with him shooting first and she of all people saying she hated him, the pun
Poor Ewoks.
*HAN SOLO NEEDS NO PROVOCATION*
well they fixed the fact that solo shot first and not greedo
I love u, George. I love u.
I was expecting a sex joke somewhere in there.
You see storm troopers, THAT'S how to aim.
Goodbye... my friend.
+peter siri Lightsaber through the childhood.
***** I'm better now.thank for concern.
If u don't like peter siri's comment I say to you: y u no lik Han??!?!?!?!?!
I somehow thought this would end up with Han beside a very disappointed Leia in bed.
One of the theories is that George Lucas didn't want Greedo to shoot first either but was being pressured by the MPAA. This is supported by George wearing a "Han Shot First" fanmade t-shirt when shooting that one Indiana Jones movie that never happened
"HAN SOLO NEEDS NO PROVOCATION"
Still better than Episode 1
+TunLunk Still better than Episode 2, The Worst One of the Saga..
***** imo Episode 2 was okay... Episode 1 is the worst
Well thats your opinion but imo Episode 2 was the worst but thats pretty debatable tbh.
It's like Darths and Droids all over again.
now I know where Kylo got that attitude
Star Wars is in a very dark time at the moment (Disney classing everything but the films non-canon, and whatnot). I just hope that JJ can bring some light to the franchise.
frankly companies have been going so far with telling us something is canon or noncanon anymore that it really doesn't seem to matter. If I enjoyed watching it and they don't try to wipe it from existence when they claim it's noncanon I could care less.
Woah woah woah, does that mean Kyle Katarn is no longer canon? But hes AWESOME!
Technically they were never claimed as canon...
The only thing JJ will bring to the franchise is his Patent-Pending Lens Flare...
What Disney says about Star Wars doesn't mean jack shit.
"LOVE ME!!!!!!!"
Kylo Ren is giving his weapon to Han, but before he activates it, Han shot first
this is one of your best videos
I love star wars but Lucas killed it.
Star wars is dead, Lucas killed it.
xDXPxJOEx456x1 That's not true, I have the non-special edition on DVD.
You know you can get it on dvd, doesn't have to be vhs.
feldhamer
Is it the Non-special Edition Special Edition?
