Recently bought one of these, surprisingly accurate considering the barrel length - and fits in a rucksack! Awesome bit of kit, I love it. Proper British quality :)
Hi do you know if you can change the buttstock to a adjustable type, magpul, ergo etc!
@@darrenm7964 sorry I don't. I personally don't feel the need to change mine :)
@@anonymoustipoff1Hi - I’ve had the Ranger for some time but I’m seeking a variation of my FAC to acquire the Pathfinder as a replacement for an old Mk1 Wildcat. I’m really interested in your comment about it being “surprisingly accurate considering the barrel length”. My only reservation has been on this point and I’d appreciate any further thoughts you had on it. I’m also surprised that such a short barrel could cope with being in .25 shooting 30ftlbs 🤷♂️
When you say rucksack would this fit into a normal 30L backpack?
I have just ordered one of these rifles and can't wait for it to arrive
Great review Richard, you sure have a way of making me want to break my piggy bank with these products. Fantastic custom rear support on the bench rest 🙂
Sorry about that Peter! Thanks for watching.
Hi,Richard love your reviews, the ranger X-r has a less shot count, But she’s a stunner.
I think they should have stayed with the concept body and just increased the diameter of the cylinder. You wouldn't need to increase it much to get plenty of extra shots. Also it is a much better looking rifle than the pathfinder probably lighter and more compact. Just my opinion I've always wondered why they don't increase the cylinder diameter such a simple fix for increasing shot count
Brocock have done it again - the Ranger is a fantastic little rifle and this looks like a a genuine improvement on something already a bit special. Much prefer this method of filling the cylinder to the probe and they have improved shot count considerably. I’m a fan of the gated magazine too, it’s neat and very reliable. All this and the folding stock - I’d sort of resolved to make no major purchase until the position on lead ammunition was clarified but I may have to think that🤔. The only minor irritation is that while a dedicated bag is a great idea why on earth is it so big - the essence of this gun is short and compact and I’d be inclined to modify a small regular backpack to accommodate it.
Thanks Richard, the usual straight forward and factual review.
Thanks for watching Graham. I hear you on the bag, but it also means there's room for all the odds 'n ends when you go to the range our out hunting...
Point taken. For me the smaller the bag the less conspicuous it is and in the present climate advertising what we’re about is counter productive although the bag itself is fairly innocuous in not being gun shaped. My real interest in this gun would be to have it on ticket - would the folding stock present any problems in terms of a one for one variation on an FAC certificate? After 30yrs of shooting them I’ve found that there’s very little a good FAC air rifle can’t do that a .22rf can and in terms of safety they’re a long way ahead. I accept that everybody’s circumstances are different and it’s just what works for the individual.
Thanks for your reviews, in my book you’re very much the acceptable face of airgunning.
@@grahamedwards9920 Hi Graham. Thanks very much for that. No, I don't think there would be any issues with the folding stock on FAC models. In fact I think it would be an excellent choice for hunting. And I'm with you on the FAC air v .22 LR debate!
@@airgunextra 👍
Hi Graham, I was just looking at Richard’s excellent review of the Pathfinder (thanks Richard for all your hard work). I was wondering about replacing my 22LR (very compact Anschutz) with the FAC version of this. It’s looking a bit like the lead ban might ruin the 22LR as regards hunting with subsonic hollow points but air rifles hopefully will be unaffected 🤞. I very often take the 22 with me in the tractor as I can get close to crows and magpies and my AA S510 is way too long for that job. Like you I believe that up to about 60 yards a good air rifle is just as good as a 22 LR and that’s if you can find any accurate 22 ammunition!
Just curious if you have any more thoughts or information about things?
My pathfinder is awesome and i love it too bits . The ranger is also a great little rifle , however , the pathfinder supercedes it in accuracy and shot count . Ive put a prismatic scope onto it and it's so so accurate 👌😁😁😁
Great review Richard. The Pathfinder looks like a very nice portable rifle.
It certainly is William. I'm hoping to get one of my own and plan to use it for ratting.
Ranger XR looks the best ❤
I own a ranger XR and my only criticism of it is the low shot count, so I have ordered a pathfinder to increase shot count 😂
It’s a keeper Richard.thanks for sharing this information 🙋♂️😊👏
Thanks for watching Lynne and I agree 100%!
Enjoyed the video, the Mini is bad ass… Shooting the KYL target was cool, I want one of those targets.
Hi ya Rich, I hope all is well with you. Excellent vid as usual, thanks.
How come you didn’t top it up with the compressor! 😂
BTW the Alpha Wolf is going really strong, I love it to bits.
And, I want that Alpha Militaria cap! 😂
Really interesting and informative review Richard 👍🏻
Thanks very much Simon.
Great review. I have purchased a BRK Ranger XR in 0.25 last year based in part on your review, and have enjoyed immensely. BRK definitely does puts out great quality products, so much so I also purchased a Commander in .25 for my son as well. As you mentioned, its only drawback for the Ranger is the limited size of the tank, not a big problem for pert control, but a mild annoyance at the range. I would love to switch to this latest one with a larger tank, but I have one question... my #1 concern is noise discretion, so how does the Pathfinder sound compare to the Ranger? Ciao, Marco.
Hi Marco. I'm really pleased you enjoyed our Ranger review and found it useful. The Pathfinder has a bit of a bark so well worth fitting a silencer. Thanks again for watching.
@@airgunextra Thanks Richard. You wouldn’t happen to have tested moderators, by chance? I’m looking to make the already quiet Ranger XR at its lowest setting as silent as possible.
@@EZ_shop A friend of mine uses one of the new style Weihrauch silencers on his Ranger and its as close to silent as I've ever heard a rifle...
@@airgunextra Beautiful! I’ll look into it. If you happen to remember the model feel free to pass it along. Thanks, and great job on your videos as always.
@@EZ_shopHi Marco, I have a XL new type Weihrauch silencer on mine, it makes the rifle a little longer but absolute whisper quiet. Regards Kev
Nice video
Thanks very much.
Hi Richard hope you are well. Love my pathfinder in 1.77.
I’ve a question and hope you can help. Although you’ve suggested the fill pressure can be taken 250 bar that takes it into the red on the gauge. Is that a little risky as the bottle maybe up to the pressure but is the internal bits of the gunbable to handle the pressure
Best regards
Ken.
HI Ken - yes 250 bar is fine. Personally I fill mine to 240 bar.
Hi Richard,, please put me right,, is the pathfinder a 250 ,,,, or 200 bar fill ??? If it’s 250 as you say that takes it into the red area??? Please excuse my ignorance 👍🤠
Hi Dave. All BRK/Brocock and Daystate rifles that are regulated can be filled to 250 bar. I agree though that the gauges are a bit misleading - I suspect they are using up old stock! To be honest, I fill mine to 220/230 bar. Happy New Year.
@@airgunextra thank you Richard 👍🤠
@@airgunextra ps ,, Happy new year to you Richard
Just got mine yestaday and I have a hell of a lot of play in the rear stock feels excessive tbh and the safty doesn't work so am going to have to take it back and maybe get it swapped
Sounds like you have a wrong 'un there/ Good job you get three years warranty now.
@@airgunextra great gun though shoots very well, tollerences on the rear stock is what let's this gun down unfortunately, seen alot of people have excessive play after doing some research
Hi, great review! Can this be fired with the stock folded?
Hi. Thanks very much. Yes its can. Not sure why you'd want to though.
Another superb review Richard, thank you 🙏 This looks to be a rather nice rifle, all be it a bit too pricey for me although it’s great to see what’s around and available.
Thanks Nick. It's a cracker isn't it!
I don't suppose you know what brand of barrel Brocock use, do they use their own brand?
Hi Steve. They use Lothar Walther barrels...
Did the delivery go round the world or just in UK? Plz reply me thanks.
Just the UK I'm afraid. Where are you located? We'll recommend a local stockist if that helps?
I’m living in Australia. But I belong to Pakistan. Can you deliver to Pakistan? That's possible.
Adorei o produto, qual o alcance efetivo com em .177
That rather depends on how good a shot you are. I hunt with mine to 40 metres as I am confident of hitting a 10p coin at that distance consistently.
Hi are you sure you can fill it to 250 bar as that is the max of the manometer and is in the red ?
Hi - yes. 250 bar fill...
Brocock broucher states 200 max fill. Don't know where 250 appears anywher (unless it's for the unregulated ?
Hi. I think you may be confusing the Brocock XR with the BRK Pathfinder XR. The Brocock XR takes a 200 bar fill, but the Pathfinder XR takes 250. Thanks for watching.
Now I'm really confused! I have a ranger XR and just ordered my pathfinder XR (should have checked your website first, very very competitive prices). But the brocock website states the XR is filled to 200bar and all others to. 250. Isn't the panther part of the XR series?
Do enjoy your clips on UA-cam
Thanks
I meant pathfinder not panther
@@brynnhuffen2200 Hi Bryn. Thanks very much. It is a little confusing. There is a rifle called the 'Brocock XR' and that's the one that takes a 200 bar fill. Your Ranger XR and the Pathfinder XR (they should have called it 'Panther'!) take 250 bar fills.
Thank you. I should have known a man of your experience and calibre (.177 or 22) had the answers.
Thanks again
13 shot mag
Hi - yes, 13 shot in .177. 11 shots in .22. 15:09
What's the furthest distance this rifle can shoot accurately at?
That rather depends on the ability of the shooter. I'd be happy to hunt out to 40m in .177 and 30m in .22 at 12 ft/lbs.
Put it in a vice please.
You mean to shoot from? What's the point in that? I don't take a vice with me when I go shooting. Do you need one to shoot straight?
Would you say the commander is more accurate
Hi Mark. Honestly, over sensible ranges I wouldn't say there is a difference between the two. I've been out shooting rats and rabbits with the Pathfinder (12 ft/lbs .22) out to 30m and have yet to miss!
So where was it you showed us how to fold the but? .. a mate got one & its a bloody nightmare!, he was told you need to use a bit of force on it & he straight away broke it off, its rubbish!. He got it of pell pax who were a pain to deal with, Sent him a wrong magazine, an extra one he paid for. Messed him about, wouldn't answer the phone & told lies ... pay extra & get an FX, you wont regret it!!
Hi Kevin. You're right, I could have shown that a little better. It's really not that hard though. You have to life the butt up. Put your thumb on top of the stem just above the pivot point and pull the butt section up. I'm not sure how your mate managed to break his rifle. The Pathfinder is an excellent rifle and you can't blame BRK for the problems you say your mate had with Pellpax. FX rifles are great, but plenty of people will tell of the problems they have had with theirs.
Looks a excellent rifle, what a terrible name again. Who comes up with these stupid names.."Rangemaster" would of been better imo.
Perhaps confusing with Daystate Rangemaster Sovereign pellets?
It's a great name because it denotes that it's a pathfinder in its use and approach to shooting 👍😁
