Bought one in wood stock for my own xmas present to myself. I'm a springer man tbh and this is my first pcp. The novelty is what appealed to me. You have to interact with gun for each shot then reset yourself- not just pull a side lever without even moving your head from scope. Not knocking if you do this but i like the interaction. From my purchase i couldn't fault the quality and finish. Yes it has it's drawbacks- low shot count - not very clear guages. But the joy of using it imo outways them. Should say i stuck a decent scope on it then accuracy at 40 - 50 mtrs was excellent. Would recommend
Definitely gone for the 308 look haven't they. I do quite like the rifle and had pretty respectable accuracy in your hands for the price band and that scope. I see that FX have started to use a similar air cylinder around barrel format in a couple of their rifles.
this is the best thing I've seen!!! I hope this beauty will not be discontinued in a year, as most companies like to do, for some reason??? The item being sold for which there is a demand will be discontinued. idiocy!
That’s pretty impressive Richard and good to see something a little different. Not without its issues but actually I think it would be easy to live with. Excellent review as always, many thanks 🙏
I really wanted one i didn't mind lack of warranty due to lack of replacement parts but what stopped me personally and i know it wont affect most shooters however I didn't want to use a telescopic sight.
Great honest vid . I thought fx drs was a breaking news gun with that air system. The gun is too long for me as am a bull pup shooter . But you can't argue with the groups .Great to meet you at the show . Thanks for your time my son was chuffed to get a pic 👍
Hi Dave. It was lovely to meet you and your son at the show too. I hope you had a good day and a safe trip back. The cylinder around the barrel is not a new thing. For sure the Artemis M30 was earlier but I don't know if it was the first. Hope to see you at the NEC next year.
Thanks Jan. You're right - they've seen better days! The pellets are some I have knocking about in my bench draw and I use them simply to show how to load magazines and not to shoot. Thanks for watching.
@@airgunextra Richard thought there had to be a good reason. Great videos mate, keep up the good work. Always good to get real time reviews and feed back about the sport.
This was an interesting review, and your enthusiasm for the look and bolt came through to interest me. Do you know what the break in the cylinder is? It is above the front manometer and appears to go all around the cylinder. Also, since air goes in the front of the cylinder, how can there be baffles in the cylinder? Thanks if you know.
Thanks very much. I'm afraid I don't know much about the insides of the rifle as it was loaned to me and had to go back. I'd imagine the air cylinder doesn't go to the end of the barrel and the baffles are located in front. But happy to be told otherwise. Thanks for watching.
What pellets were you loading? I need to know so I don't buy them, the skirts were in deplorable condition. At distance, how could you have any accuracy with them?
You mean the pellets I demonstrated loading the magazine with? God only knows - they are just an assortment knocking around in my bench purely for demo purposes. If you mean the ones I used on the range - Rangemaster Sovereigns.
The cylinder shroud seems to be the "multishot break barrel" (aka novelty) of the next few years after Smk,Barra,Jts and even Fx now we got a "Remington" haha _[I hope the next novelty is using decent mags on budget pcp's... This design is overused and not very durable.]_
Had one for a few week, ran it out of air by mistake and it wouldn't fill back up, seal problem apparently. Manufacturers replaced it and its been great apart from one of the magazines is almost unusable.
Has been out for more than 6 month longer than the FX DRS. Personally I love the remington. Haven't found a situation where it doesn't work. As for the FX, I hear too many horror stories about them to want to take the risk. But it's all about personal choice.
Hi Richard, another great review. I'm interested in this rifle in a synthetic stock for vitamin control. Do they do a FAC version and who is the UK importer? I live in Northern Ireland where all firearms have to be registered on a FAC, regardless if it is a C02 pistol or a centre fire rifle. Nobody here uses sub 12fp because they have to register their rifle anyway with firearms. At the moment I'm using a FAC FX Crown 700mm barrel. This is an amazing air rifle, but very heavy to shoot off hand. I'm also using an Element Optics Helex 6-24x50. This is a great scope outside but is too powerful for pest control. It doesn't have an illuminated reticle and this makes it very difficult to shoot inside dark barns. My set up at the moment is for setting 50m a picking off my target, but useless for acquiring quick targets in dark conditions. Can you please be so kind as to recommend a budget FAC, regulated air rifle, with a longer length of pull ( l am a big guy) and low power FFP illuminated scope to go with it. I'm looking for a light and easy to point air rifle, preferably a bit shorter. You have never left me down yet with your advice. Kind regards, Oscar
Hi Oscar. In all honesty, I don't think the Vought would be up to shooting at FAC levels. In my experience, when you're putting high FPS shots through a rifle you need something that has a bit better engineering behind it. The Vought is a great affordable rifle for 12 ft/lbs but I think that's its limit (though I'd love to be proved wrong!). In terms of affordable, good quality FAC rifles I think the stand out at the moment is the new FX DRS which is available with a synthetic stock at FAC levels for £790 (www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/fx-drs-exp-classic-synthetic-500mm-fac). It's worth shopping around of course and you might find it a little cheaper. To be transparent though - I have not shot the DRS yet (but hope to review a 12 ft/lbs version soon) but I hear good things about them. In terms of scope, I think the MTC Copperhead is hard to beat - light and compact with all the usual adjustments including an illuminated reticle (alphamilitaria.com/shop/mtc-copperhead-f2/). Again being transparent, we sell the Copperhead as well as the FX DRS. If I can think of any other affordable FAC rifles I'll let you know.
Hi Richard thanks for all your help. I have been looking at reviews for the DRS. I was considering waiting until all the bugs, if there are any, to be ironed out.
Hi. I've not shot the Artemis M30 so unfortunately can't compare the two. The Vought is very good though. If your budget will stretch, check out the FX DRS. Thanks for watching.
Hi. It really depends on your budget and the kind of shooting you're looking to do. Generally speaking, I'd go for a scope that has variable parallax and a magnification range of 4-16x. This might help: alphamilitaria.com/air-guns/air-rifles/scopes/best-air-rifle-scopes-under-150/ . Thanks for watching.
Interesting that Remington just brought the barrel within air cylinder to market at virtually the exact same time as FX. I wonder whose idea it really was?
So they both nicked the idea from Artemis? I’m amazed that such an innovative creation didn’t get a world wide patent before showing itself in public@@airgunextra
Had one for 24hrs…..went straight back! Awful rifle, bolt action is terrible, the magazines are not much better than 3D printed after market mag’s,the tiny pip in the location slot that supposedly holds the mag in place is almost ineffective from new! Also I found it uncomfortable to shoulder as there is hardly any drop on the stock….I did like the air cylinder wrapped around the barrel, also overall it looks a nice style rifle, the few shots I put through it were ok regarding accuracy.Your choice but definitely not for me.🥺
@@airgunextraPerhaps you were lucky, and I was unlucky,it’s down to personal experience and opinion……there are better rifles on the market for less money,Gamo Coyote, and Phox etc and spares/parts etc readily available….I’m not slagging you off as I subscribe to your channel which I enjoy,it’s my personal experience and opinion of having one,and also over 50yrs of shooting air guns.🙂
No offence taken! I think that's the biggest risk with affordable rifles - consistency of manufacture. In other words - you get fewer pups with expensive rifles (that's not to say the odd one doesn't slip through). But, as a generalisation, I think there's more variance in terms of quality the lower down the fiscal range you go. You could get a good one but you could get a bad one. You're totally right that Gamo produce some great rifles for affordable rifles, so too does Reximex and Kral. I think the affordable/mid price range is the hardest sector of the market right now.@@adventurebeforedementia.2248

Another good, complete, Review. I am not impressed with the failings of the rifle, which deserve attention to bring in to a contender against rivals. Perhaps +£50 to make it into a "Benchmark".
Your assessment was balanced and apt. a) I wish that manufacturers would offer a no-scope option; i would not want to pay for a "throw-away" item. The cost, £20 - £30?, would be better spent on a selection of the owners choice. b) Gauge marking. c) Plastic trigger. d) Comb height. e) Filler-Port protection with a moderator fitted. Individually, maybe not an issue. Collectively, the rifle falls short suggesting a designed- down to a price item. A few pounds more would have produced a higher specification product, in a different league. Without those deficiencies I should consider purchase. I always look for your Reviews for considered, accurate, practical presentations. Thank you for your investment in assisting our sport. Best wishes, Mike@@airgunextra
