"she filled something in you that is still full, even though she's gone"
Joel D'Souza she didn't leave him empty when she left him..Even though they are not together, that love gave him something. So even though he wants her back, he can respect her wishes..he is not going away from this empty handed.
"she made you want to live more than anything else, and know you want to leave the world, because you've seen it."
"How beautiful and tragic it is, to feel everything so deeply." Neil, you're a beautiful poet and Honestly, my favorite. You feel everything so deeply and you understand, you understand my thoughts and put it into a poem, you put it into words, everything I feel about my own lost loves or life in general. You're beautiful.
Agreed!
What is that line from?
Where is that quote from?
@@emmabush8517 "it is both a blessing and a curse, to feel everything so very deeply"- david jones
@@emmabush8517 I'm two years late but yk
This is the poem that I wake up to at night.
When I wake up sweating and gasping, choking on air and tangled in sheets that fit just a little unright.
"In her, you have seen the color and shape of your perfect life."
I see these lines and hear them and I can't breathe because I imagine the way they have a future that I don't.
"I can! I can! I can!"
This is the sound of the beating heart that stabs itself further and further onto the knife embedded in your chest.
"Because she filled something in you that's still full.
Even though she's gone."
When you smile because of the 'masturbate in public' part and then your smile slowly starts to turn into tears.
Love this so much.
4 years ago this poem saved my life and made feel less alone when I was in such a sad place. Thank you. I came back today and listened to it and it makes me smile knowing what I have overcome.
What the hell ?!
I swear I love this man
His an inspiration, I admire all his poems
He writes in such a beautiful way
every piece of his makes me so sad but i love it. absolutely beautiful.
Neil and Patrick Roche are my all time favourite poets 😊
Same! I also love Sam Sax
Yess!!!
Yasssssss
I shriek whenever I see Neil in my subscription box
This poetry + alcohol + Damien Rice is quite.. heavenly.
Something about his poems is so unique and stunning, it leaves me in awe every time.
This has been my favorite poem for 5+ years. I listen to it often. I share it with anyone I think may need it.
Some days though, like today. I don’t play it. I see it in the suggestions, I sit with it paused for a moment. I catch my breath. I smile, unconvincingly, then till it hurts my cheeks, then i move on.
I am in love with Neil's poems, So beautiful and real.
This man is a gift
I know you'll never read this. But Neil you've saved my life so many times by giving me the words I lacked. Your ability to be vulnerable and communicate at the same time is pure art
Neil gives me so many feelings
I am in love with Neil hilborn
This one brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for existing, Mr. Hilborn.
"...you need to feel vulnerable in front of somebody else." The joke made so much sense that it was sad
This poem has always been sad to me, but now that I can relate to it, it is absolutely heart wrenching and destroying me.
finally, a good quality video of this poem.
"In her you have seen the colour and shape of your perfect life and now the children, the house, the arguments about tablecloths, they are all fading like things left in sunlight.
Like any dream left too long in the light."
So beautiful
3:06AM and I'm bawling so hard. Damn. It ended in a way I know reconciling would be a very bad idea but it just hit so hard because yes, everything reminds me of him. I saw a future with him and it all made sense, but of course, it was just a dream. Such beautiful art right here.
Can someone bring Neil to the UK? I'd love to see him perform at some point
he’s coming this fall !!! look him up on twitter !!!
30 seconds in and I'm crying. Then smiling...now I'm crying again.

He makes my heart swell with happiness
this is my fav off of his spoken word album but listening to this brings up so much pain. ah, too relatable
Hands down favorite poet
This is beautiful...and is exactly how I felt after losing my first REAL love
"Like any dream left too long in the light"
This honestly broke my heart
This is so relevant.
I'M SOBBING

He recovered from that hiccup really well
Amazing
i love neil hilborn ❤
Beautiful!
who hurt this man
Amazing as always, Neil.
"But you will stay silent
Because of her, because she asked for this,
Because she filled something in you that's still full
Even though she's gone."
He did a version of this with Kevin Kantor I believe and it was my favorite thing ever and I can't find it anywhere
yesss you've done it again 👌👌👌😍
Is this man everybody's favorite!?
He is number two for me but it is close
chris latin who is number one?
Stephanie Cano Andrea Gibson
She filled something in you that's still full, even though she's gone...
I feel like he wrote this about me. I mean obviously he didn't. But that's what I love about his poems. As he said in "the future"
"It's not to say you aren't special it's to say thank God you aren't special"
beautiful
I hate this poem so much because it makes me freaking cry because it's too relatable.. spoken amazing
there used to be a video of this with Kevin Kantor commentating and it was also beautiful 😭 idk where it went
Holy shit, Neil.
GOT MY COPY
Awesome
i want to be loved the way he loves her.
There should be subtitles or a comment with the lines.
I already had these feelings as I clicked on this video... My 4th love just left me...it hurts...a lot
hes so unique :3
I want to marry this guy I really really do
Story of my life...
Young Santa, I love you.
Amazing poem, but can we talk about how soft his hair looks?
My english isn't Very Sharp... Can Simeone explain me the meaning of the final words?
this entire poem is literally the perfect description of my ex and I
I love how his book is green, his eyes is green, even his cloth is green ...
This came out 4 days after my 4th love left me
'You've seen it'
This whole poem is bad advice, come on
You don't get it
Lexie Larson listen carefully 0:56
Laughing and quietly crying all in 3 minutes
i'm fucking crying.
it's a nice poem, but it really sings with Kevin's side commentary.
What if i will ?
I know this is a man talking about a girl, but I swear to a god above this is me talking about you.
Neil is becoming Kurt Russell
I think he handled it gracefully, but the masturbate in public line is just as serious as the rest of the poem, it's shocking and vulgar, but it's raw just to feel vulnerable again, fall in love with strangers, all those themes tying into trying to feel whole and in control.
this poems are amazing but the oratory skills clearly come from the same teacher since everyone sounds he same, there are incredibly poeerful ways of using once voice to compliment rhetoric, i doesnt always need to be loud.. i would like to hear something different
I'd kill to be the fifth but stay
I'm board
Am I the only one that has part of this tatted?
Crying?
Why’d you have to do that
I think my gf just broke up with me with this.
Still just not as good as "moving day." :(
This guy is bad.
