- I thought I would share this one, as I was pretty impressed. This budget scan tool is highly capable and will blow your mind! Whether you’re a DIYer, just wanting an inexpensive Bluetooth scan tool to have around for projects. Or a professional automotive technician, that just wants a small portable scan tool that will fit in your pocket. You will want one of these! I could see myself using this little Bluetooth scanner quite a bit!

I just got this scan tool, so far super impressed, but I'm also learning everything it can do. Worth the $$, they get you tho first year free then subscription of about $50 a year from what I read.
Yeah but $50 a year is nothing for what it does. Any scan tool worth anything will have some type of fee for updates. Takes a ton of money to develop this software. Glad you like it! I too have been happy with it this far!
The nice looking one I bought at Walmart required their app for it to work and in order to do any other module expect the ECU basic (like only 10PIDS) you had to purchase the unlocks for it. You'd be way over what the TopDon offers. I just started using the one I bought on Amazon as a learning tool getting into advanced vehicle diagnostics. I also bought the cheap hantek scope to learn on. I know it's not a PICO but 1/2 the cost.
Thanks for the review. Ignore the haters. 💪
I got mine last week, looking to learn some quick tricks with it. Looks like I did the same thing as you, got it working and jumped around in there some, lol. You did forget to mention the software renewal fee, seems like the first year comes with the unit, $79 or $99 annual renewal. There is a TopScan and a TopScan Pro. I got this as a home gamer because I have a 2014 Cadillac with Stabilitrack issues. This is one of the few reasonably priced units that does mode 8-10 functions (bi-directional).
Definitely, I forgot to mention some stuff. Honestly, I wish I had used it more by now. I just have a few professional level scan tools so I don’t bust it out very often but I plan on checking it out some more in the future. I can’t even remember if I got the pro or not. But I do remember hearing about that recently from somebody else.
Would like to see it do a dpf regeneration
Top don pro ? Or the MIKIMAUS
Looks like it does almost everything my $$ Launch can do. How is 2way contol?
Charge for updates?
Watch 15 videos on this before I came across & I learned more for you in 15 minutes then I did those 15 videos 😂
Any subscription requirement? Is it recognized by auto authorization for gateway access?
Yes, included in the first year then $49.95 a year after that.
Can it perform any scan functions on EV´s!? Also, does the app require a subscription service?
When I got it, it came with free updates for the first year I believe. I am not sure on EVs.. I don’t work on a whole lot of them yet
can it do immo keys/fobs? does it work on European cars? does it have topology?
Yes it works on every make and model car foreign and domestic, also motorcycles (I noticed) if equipped w/obll port.
@@stevecamacho9634 does it have topology?
Will it check power steering on a honda
Yes
Can it program chip keys and key fobs?
I haven’t tried using that scan tool to program a fob. It says it can, most likely pretty basic programming capabilities. I will post another video soon clarifying what that scan tool is capable of when I use it’
I just found out you actually can buy some additional software for that scan tool that will allow it to be a pretty effective IMMO FOB programmer
There are 2 types PRO AND THE CRAP ONE WHICH WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE ?
I was testing the original one in this video. The pro hadn’t even came out yet.. And it’s not a crap scan tool. But thanks for your valuable comment 🙄
It requires a $49.95 subscription after the first year. Might be worth it if you're a mechanic and using it to make money, but for someone like me who just wants to check their own car I'm going to pass.
For a professional level scan tool that’s peanuts bro.. do you work on your own vehicles? If so, then it’s absolutely worth it. If you just pay a mechanic to work on your vehicles, then yeah, doesn’t really make sense.
audio is horrible.... Higly suggest you get a wired microphone
I agree! A Mic is definitely on my list!
@@BigDogDiagnosticsor Turn fans off
@@thomasmk6 except at the time it was right around 100° outside lol. Turning the fans off is not an option my friend.
@@BigDogDiagnostics terrible audio but the video and comments where still helpful, im gonna get a similar scan tool x tool a30m
The entire video sucks actually. He just wanted to post something so that he could get his Amazon affiliate link out there. Poor review and he didn't even talk about the fact that this thing is subscription based.
Lost me at “CVT” 😂
CVT?
@@BigDogDiagnostics worst transmission idea ever! (My opinion of course).
I agree. It’s a good idea. But the technology isn’t there yet reliability wise. They are terrible
@@BigDogDiagnostics I had a Chevy Cruz, and a newer Corolla recently. The CVT that simulates gears!! Lmao 🤣
@@BigDogDiagnostics anyways, I got my top scan in the mail! It’s awesome! Thank you for the video! Don’t know what VE calculator is
Replaces elm 327 dongle 😂
A what?
very confusing video, it would be helpful if you knew your way around this scanner before you do a video on it.
It was my first or second time using myself. It was meant to be an initial overview. Initial thoughts. Wasn’t a diag video. Just wanted to show what type of features and capabilities it had briefly…When I use it in a diag I will post a follow up.
Im pretty sure he said it was his second time using it, right at the start of the video.
Maybe you should try listening before you post comments perhaps? Hahaha
@timblackburne77 maybe you should mind your own business, he answered my comment.
@@Hasbro401 dont like criticism? Too bad
@timblackburne77 You just proved my point😂
