That's an awesome tip , i got burnt a few times before realizing starting voltage being good does not mean good for a whole scan session. Especially while checking out what factory software is available, running koeo tests , possibly having to switch to global, all while the headlights are on lol. When you look again and voltage is affecting something, that's when the tail chasing starts!

WOW, Thank You for taking the time to put together this EXTREMELY well explained Diagnostic Training video, you hit on soooooooo many of the points that i have been talking about for years, but the MOST important one is when you think you found the issue with a vehicle ask yourself is this REALLY the issue OR is it the RESULT of an issue. Like you said in this video, most ignition problems are the RESULT of the ROOT CAUSE problem like the lean air fuel problem you found. Hey Jeff, you are definitely on to something. It’s hard to tell on the video because it was extremely windy outside. But I hear what you hear as well on film. This vehicle has multiple issues and suffering from a severe lack of maintenance all around for like the last hundred thousand miles lol.. I attacked this Fuel Pump straight away for a couple reasons. This trucks overall drivability is very poor. Just falls on its face under load. WOT Trim data did not indicate primary cause of a lien condition as a vacuum leak. And of course, the fuel pressure reading itself on the mechanical gauge definitely indicates a fuel delivery issue. But I will be diving into the other various issues this vehicle has in part 2! I did not want to make this video confusing by including ALL the issues causing the poor performance/power loss. Was really just trying to demonstrate testing the fuel delivery system. But I have already recommended to the client, the intake be resealed when I replace the seeping fuel line and fuel rail. I have also already recommended a tune up. However, I have not finished looking into the ignition system so don’t have full recommendations on that yet. Stay tuned part 2 will be a good one! Thanks for watching bro! 😎

I've been working on a ladys ecodiesel for a few yrs now. It's a real pos. She has 245k miles on it and is constantly calling with issues. She's on the road a lot, so she often runs it by a dealership on her trip for a diag. I take their diag and go from there. Sometimes, it is a good diag, but most of the time, they are just running up a huge bill for no reason. The truck just came back for a reduced power situation. What she calls limp mode. Flat ground no issues if you ease into the throttle. Uphill or pressure on the pedal causes it to take away power, and it'll only maintain about 50mph. Flat ground maintains 70 with light throttle, but the slightest uphill throws it into reduced power. Dealer diag said it needed an egr system clean, specifically the cooler. Originally, the codes were for egr and underboost. I pull the cooler/egr/pipe off, throughly cleaned them, put them back on. Very little air was making it through. Very clogged, one of the worst I've seen. First start dash showed exhaust 100% full, run at highway speeds. Ran rpm at 2500 for 45min sitting still, and watched the exhaust filter percentage go down till the message went away. Took it for a test drive, still in reduce power mode. Codes now are p0299, throttle body and p26ab. Map sensor checked and was literally melted off the end. Installed new sensor, no change. Doesn't matter what I do, it won't come out of reduced power mode. Everything looks normal on readings but every code cleared reappears. Every so often, the test drive reveals it is capable of having full boost when you get on it. But 2 seconds later back to reduce power. The dealer also wrote up the piping. But at the $5k price tag, the owner doesn't want to spend it just to see if it fixes it. I'm completely tired of working on this truck. Been non-stop fixing things for several years. At this point, she just wants it to run good enough to trade it in and get something for it. I agree with her. With 245k miles, it's nothing but an emissions nightmare now. No point dumping thousands just for it to reoccur a few months down the road.

A few things to point out here. The "triangle of death" as you called it, functions in three stages: Yellow, which I'm not too sure of, Orange as a precautionary and Red for stop immediately. For example, the orange triangle was lit because the driver's door was probably open. However, a red triangle would appear if the coolant level was low. The oil leaks on top of the engine are most likely caused by one of the following issues: either a dried-out gasket under oil cap, or that hose (Part of the PCV system.) to the left of the oil cap is stiff and starting to leak. A good way to test these engines for clogged PCV issues, is by placing a rubber glove over the oil cap hole. If the rubber glove starts to inflate, then it's time to service the PCV system.

You did not show how to remove and reinstall plastic nipple onto new pump --- I watchted specifically for that step. Otherwise good video.

It’s been quite a while since I made this video. Honestly, I don’t even know what you’re talking about lol.. what plastic nipple?

But if I didn’t show it. Probably didn’t feel like it was necessary. Some stuff is just common sense. Pretty straightforward and I don’t feel like it needs an explanation. But once again, what plastic nipple?
