      Dark type is Evil type in Japan, and having a gym leader (someone who is supposed to be an upstanding role model for the community) use dirty underhand tricks in their fighting style wouldn't really sit well, so it's my theory that a dark type gym leader was never appointed for this reason. Of course, this falls apart when you consider the fact that Giovanni was a gym leader and he's a literal mob boss so idk

      yeah, if 120 pokemon are introduced and split evenly, each type only gets 7.5 pokemon. That's also considering each pokemon in an evolution as separate beings.

    • @WaterKirby1994
      @WaterKirby1994 5 років тому +20

      I agree with Mark Fream on this, it is disappointing. What should have been done is limit pokemon to the most restrictive regional dex for that region. Steel & Dark in Gen1 is kind of cheating, which leaves Ghost & Dragon as the rarest types of Kanto. His information is also inaccurate as Wattson used Electrike & Manectric in Emerald. Only the Chimchar Family & Ponyta/Rapidash were available Fire types in DP's Sinnoh Dex, which fortunately Platinum corrected, although Dragon Type is also rare in that region. Fairy Type was a cheat for Unova, I would have just said ice as the worst type for it.
      I personally don't see anything wrong with a Gym Leader using a pokemon from a previous region.

There's loads of other things you could consider, including looking at average base stat distributions, move pools, availability of the types they're weak against, whether they counter popular types from that region...you could've done so much more. I’m thinking about what the worst gym would be for Galar, and I think I’ve got to give it to Normal; with Bug as a close second.
    3/4 new Normal-types are early route normals. At least the Zigzagoon line gets a regional evolution in Obstagoon, but then it has a massive 4x weakness to Fighting, a powerhouse typing in the region.
    The Fourth new Pokémon is Indeedee, which you can only get around the 4th gym, around level 34-35. I know when I’m playing through a region, unless I specifically want a Pokémon from later in the journey, I’m not making many changes to my lineup that late game.
    The reason I thought Bug was because out of the 3 new Bug-type lines, 2 of them have quad weaknesses and 1 of them is only found super late game.
