BTT #65 - Should I Take My Ex Back?

  • Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
  • Topic suggestion from "Sebastian" who said: Women that try to suck you back into their life once you’ve left them and why it’s never a good idea. They will make all kinds of claims, use the most convincing forms of manipulation once they see you doing better/not giving them your attention, then when you do take them back, it’s the same as before. And men wonder why they keep having the same problems.
During this show I will cover:
Why it's generally a bad idea to take an ex back
When you absolutely shouldn't take an ex back
How to get her out of your house & life for good
When it might be appropriate to give her a second chance

    Short answer: No
    Long answer: Nooooooooo

    • @Deimonos85

I'd say only if you're the one who dumped her and not the other way around. And if you want to make her a fuck buddy and nothing more while you're also banging others.
If she's your alpha widow, she'll accept that even if she whines about it at first.

Quite often our exe's are "Pod People", a creation they morphed into to attract us and maintained as long as it was useful to them. My wife of 24 years actually researched the new guy to mimic his hobbies, political leanings and favorite sports team.....found our all that shit on a computer she left behind.

@@LA-wv7gf You've described the classic "put in the friend zone". He's become her back-up just in case it doesn't work out for her. She's probably after a specific unrealistic criteria in her men and while he's good, he's not quite good enough to seal the deal for her, in other words he's being "strung along". Try and help him see that, be gentle though because when he figures it out it will hurt when he see he's being taken for a mug. Tell him it's "a right of passage" for most men so he's not alone and then tell him to view Rich's videos for education.

Never take them back. It is always a waste. I was with my exe for 2 years when I decided the relationship needed to end due to so many red flags that I identified. A week later my ex visited me in the state I was doing an internship in at the time. She said she was over me already and just wanted to visit. The entire visit she played "men aint crap" music in my car and pulled out all the moves in the bedroom during the 4 days she visited. At the end she hit me with the "so what are we?" My incredibly stupid self did not stick to my guns. We got back together. We were fine for a couple of months and then everything that was a problem before popped up again, and this time more problems came up as well. Long story short, she became withdrawn. The sex stopped because she "didn't feel comfortable having sex" with me. She had no problem sleeping with me on the first date. After 9 months of being back together she suggested we break up and I agreed. This was my out. Low and behold, she was cheating. Guys, getting back with an ex is a total freaking waste of your time and money. I certainly complicated my life and then justified why I did it. DO NOT DO IT!

Wow... Described word by word exactly what my narcissistic ex did, I also felt guilty like a MF because she always said I am a manipulator, toxic, misogynistic, Weak masculinity man... She manipulated the s**t out of me and made me feel every kind of guilt and sense of self doubt that is humanly possible... She broke up with me 3 months after we moved togheter from Europe to Mexico... Literally one month in and she met a guy for "dinner" but he was just "an old friend that she met during the erasmus", she lied to me, she said she wouldn't go meet him and then she went anyway... Couple of months later and she left and came back to Europe, I went no contact and she freaked out and she recontacted me to come back togheter, I refused and I dodged a bullet... 2 weeks in now and I feel PTSD symptoms, anxiety and almost 0 self esteem after 3 years of intense relationship... Fellas, never ever depends on her, be the mental point of origin and never trust her words

Now she has to move back home 4 hours away and live in a cramped apartment with her sister. I dont get how she thinks she can do “better” when I literally couldve offered her everything. Women never forget anything you do that pisses them off. A few major 'relationship ending' arguments poisoned the remaining few months of our relationship & my ex made my life miserable. It was a big 'red flag' & I didn't take the hint because I thought Ioved her & let fears control me. We both would have been miserable.

  • @goctagonrecovery3270

I was in a relationship with a girl for about 8 months and we could both tell it wasnt going well towards the end. I was overly attached to her which lead to myself feeling like I needed her and thinking that she was going to help me with all of my problems. We came to the mutual conclusion to take a break however, she ended up walking away from the relationship. It broke me. I was worried and would constantly try to call and text her asking if and when we were going to get back together and she was just not interested anymore. Eventually we broke up and were on good terms. We would talk like friends a bit after we broke up until one day she got rude an ugly with me over something insignificant. I was still very attached to her and I realised that. At that point I cut her out of my life and completely walked away. I havent spoken to her in about 4 months and dont plan on it any time soon. It is the best thing I could have done for myself. I ended up with so much clarity and self empowerment in the wake of it. I still suffer from a bit of “one-itis” but I am fully aware that there are plenty more out there and I’m commited to making myself the best version of me that I can. Thanks for the videos Rick! Love your input!

Had an ex break up with me because I called her on her BS. (Legit tried to have a genuine conversation to get to the bottom of what was going on) Instead of owning it and growing, she chose to avoid the topic and told me that I kept saying I wasn't happy with her, and that I would be happier elsewhere.
When I accepted the break up and went cold Turkey, she got stalkerish. Had to scorched earth her out of my life. One of the best decisions I've ever made, I can think clearly again, I have a peaceful life free from drama.

It’s always interesting hearing the theory & reading the comments. ‘Do The Work’ is surely the key. On the job learning counts the most. Make the mistakes, assimilate the lessons, live thru train wrecks, account for your losses...then you will be bulletproof.
Too much other shit going on in the world to be concerned about female behaviour. I feel for the younger chaps who seek the advice to try & circumvent the crashes...but are still going to be moths to the flame in reality.
You have to live the experiences to learn & become Iron Man!

I broke up with her twice, and as you described in this video, she really turned it on and "fought for us". 🙄 Waited till I was 100% emotionally reinvested, then like she flipped a switch, she just went completely cold, broke up with me, and being empathic, I could really feel she meant it!
Bahh well, lesson learned. I'm on to better things and she can enjoy being alpha widowed.

So true...we are suckers for the rubber band. After I left my marriage and reconnected with a girl I was engaged with from 27 years ago...we had an awesome time for 9 months and she imploded from guilt and we had to part ways. I thought she was a unicorn and we did try to get back again, and again....I finally said enough was enough and went my own way. I needed to find my new self and glad I did. She has tried to get back and I have refused her efforts. I'm soooooo beyond that nonsense now and it's thanks to your show and others that have helped me. Thank you brother!

I was 21 got my 18 year old girlfriend pregnant, was having sex even though I didn't want to be with her anymore, we broke up and got back together multiple times, we wasted 23 years on a horrible, horrible relationship, went sexless after 7 years, I would get sex once, maybe twice a year for the last 16 years, I was considered an 8-8.5 even by her friends, I'm 5'9'' 195lbs 8% body fat at the time, she was a 6 at best, 5'6'' 230lbs for the last 16 years, I had one-itis for her, she cheated after 23 years and I was finally free, Don't ever get back together you will lose yourself and maybe never find yourself ever again

You tend to remember the good and forget the bad. For example, in the USA a lot of guys played football in high school. They remember the good times but forget that for 6 months a year they were in pain, sometimes a lot of pain. Bangs, bruises, pulled and torn muscles and ligaments, sometimes broken bones and concussions. By the time they are 50 years old, all those old injuries show up again. Taking back an ex is just like trying to continue to play the game. The cumulative effects of something bad takes its toll the longer you pursue it. In sports it's physical problems. In relationships it's emotional damage, financial problems and sometimes psychological abuse. Just ain't worth it. Even in the 1960s and 1970s the pop psychologists would always ask "What makes you think anything is going to change?" And for people with behavioral issues, 85% never resolve them.

I loved what you said about breaking up for a woman was final but not for the man. There's a episode of Seinfeld where George was trying to break up with a woman and the woman wouldn't let him saying that breaking up was like launching missiles where both people had to turn their keys. Then him and Jerry were talking and Jerry said that breaking up was like tipping over a soda machine. You couldn't do it at once it took a few times of rocking it back and forth

My own mother broke up with my father when they were in college because my father refused to ask her to marry him. She started dating another man and months went by. My father finally found her and challenged her new boyfriend to a fight. Long story short they married and stayed together for over 50 years until his death. So that is that.
My girlfriend and I split up a few months ago because I still have not divorced my (ex) wife. She said she would come back when I divorced my wife. I am not sure what next move is with my ex-girlfriend but I think after 4 years of separation I need to finally once-and-for-all divorce my wife.
With my separated wife I left her after many years of staled loveless passionless marriage and went back 10 months later due to guilt from my children etc. I was never so miserable and hopeless. I left again after a year of that.

Relationships end because there are problems. The same problems that ended the relationship will still be there. In the interest of story time- 8 year marriage that ended two years ago with the discovery of an affair surrounded by heavy drug use. She was always a heavy drinking and when I stopped tagging along the affair started. When the party ran out, she knocked at my door wanting "to try again". 9 months into the "try again" the drugs/substance abuse and looking for other guys started again. One of the guys was a good friend of mine. She played nice until the need to return to those problems overtook her and I became the enemy again. Had to learn the hard way there was nothing wrong with me after working on myself. She was missing something inside and refused to seek help. As he said, if you're not seeing a genuine change in the problems, don't waste your time.

This is excellent as usual, but one thing with always spinning plates is that when do you know it's time to just take a break and go Monk Mode for a while and not deal with women? Like when would you say is a good time to take a break and for how long? I think now would be a good time for me personally to take a break, but when I come back I don't want to have regressed as far as game or sexual skill in the bedroom.

For me if I go longer than 2-3 months I find my game to be a little off, but not for too long. Anything up to 6 months or a year and it feels like I’m starting from the beginning and have no idea what I’m doing at all.
But the hardest part I’ve found is taking off again, it’s harder to move an object at rest. So “finding leads” and creating prospects is actually more difficult than any problems you might have from diminished game, because game comes back pretty quickly.
Either way it’s not that important so long as you don’t stretch it for too long. Women notice when you’re working on yourself anyway, and the more you “go monk” while being busy the more they want what they are perceiving they can’t have.

So it's not really about "taking" her back. Such option is absent.

It’s just one of the tools that you incorporate with the grand scheme of TRP praxeology instead of a stand-alone filter.
Like if you’re an INTJ man in his early 20s without strong LMS, even an ESFJ in her late 20s would be a total nightmare for you.

I find the women who play the damsel in distress the most difficult to break up with because they act like you are destroying their entire life and they will never ever be okay again. And if you really love them but its just not working out, it's so hard to move on when they won't let you.
