I've got almost 175 hours in this game and I had no idea aiming the cutter makes mining faster! Exactly why I love your videos! Keep up the good work Slack!
YES!! The Slack is back! I’ve been enjoying my first playthrough of Starfield a lot but it will be nice to have the walkthrough “bible” from the master on this and subsequent plays.
I am playing on "very easy" mode, lowest possible settings on my SteamDeck and I gotta say that this game is all my Jack Vance / Ursula K LeGuin / Gene Roddenberry / Kim Stanley Robinson / John Scalzi / Becky Chambers dreams come true and I LOVE IT! I am eagerly anticipating seeing Major Slack show me how it's done :)
Woohoo. I don't have time now to watch the whole thing now, but I am sure a pre-watch thank you is in order for a video over 1 hour long. Thank you, boss.
Kid stuff caps out at 500 credits. The pistol is (if I remember right) is an old earth pistol. It’s named and has lore. I didn’t use it as I like rifles myself. Turn out your grandmother was a UC Marine and you got her armor. It’s not legendary, but looks really good. Has good stats for your level. Especially if you craft it up a bit You get the ship. It’s a class A ship You also get (grandad’s?) meatloaf recipe. Extra XP food item. 2% if I’m remembering right May be more, but that’s all I know of
“Slack, did you know you can manually mine if you swing your pickaxe at the ore vein?!” Uuuuhm, I mean, aim the laser thingy! Your dedication and integrity are highly appreciated, and the content is, as always, top notch! Cheers! 😎👍
There’s a small hidden cave with some more minerals in the area under the bridge in the opening mine. Look for some suspiciously stacked rocks and blast through them.
I think you need to update your Patron read man. Real Walkthroughs aren't just endangered, they're an isolated damn specimen! Thank you for all the hard work you do for us Slack! Looking forward to this walkthrough immensely 👍
Great video Slack! I’ve played a little over 200 hours so far with the kid stuff. I’ve never seen more than 500 credits sent to my parents even when having over 800k credits. I’ve Got a Old 1911 Earth pistol And a class A spaceship. So all in all a good Trade 😉
I was able to play this on cloud gaming on my Xbox One I was only able to play a few, didn't get past the intro. Couldn't figure out how to get into the menu to put my helmet on. I love Bethesda games, my favorite developer but this game is way too complicated for me, couldn't even figure out how to navigate the menus. Going to try it again after I start watching your playthrough. Also love your home Slack, you are my favorite creator
Kids stuff trait is capped at 500 credits per week so it isn't bad. It gives you "Sir Livingston's pistol" 40 damage large magazine & high velocity mods; gran-gran's spacesuit & helmet; a space ship (sorry i changed everything about it and don't remember original specs) and grandad 's meatloaf recipe which gives 2% xp bonus
At the beginning in the dark cave there should be a breakable stone wall under the arch. It probably had all the rest of the Neodymium you were looking for. I think there's a cracked Nasa coffee mug down there too.
Thanks! Was waiting all the time for somebody presenting Starfield while knowing what they are doing. As the game is still so new, everybody is still in discovery mode, which leads to some frustration on viewer side, when trying to follow the story along via UA-cam. Yes, I'm spoiled and lazy. That's why I thank you again for putting all this effort into creating these videos.
The Kids Stuff trait on a first casual play through is a solid one. Note that although it doesn’t say it anywhere, it caps at 500 credits max a week. For that you get a reasonable weapon, half decent set of armour, and a solid ship. On a second play through you’ll no doubt have better kit than they give you when it triggers as you’ll play more efficiently. If you’re a monster, you can remove the trait by talking to them after you get the goodies, but it’s a really nice bit of character role playing.
Kid's Stuff benefits (I went with Kid's Stuff and Dream Home) -Sir Livingstone's Pistol: fantastic weapon -free starship! The Wanderwell; I rename it and use it as a 'blank' and rebuild it from scratch. -you'll actually run into your parents at various places around the galaxy and in various questlines. Honestly, I never had a problem with the credits being sent home. Unless you're running around broke or nearly broke, you'll barely notice it, if at all. You can also remove the Kid's Stuff trait at any time (after you get all the goodies, of course( by talking to your Dad, and telling him you can't afford to support them.anymore (there'll be a [Remove Kid's Stuff Trait] ptompt. But you'd have to be some kind of monster to not help your parents.
Oh my god YYYYYEEEEAAAHHHHH. I was trying to watch other wools playing this game it just didn’t hit the mark. I’m literally cooking a chicken Korma and I had to stop and say I am sooo excited about this. It’s going to be awesome. I’ll watch this later with my korma 🎉 👏🏾👌🏾
At 13:35, I expected to hear, "A new hand touches the Bacon". LOL!! Edit to add: This game reminds me of Fallout, with a watered-down version of No Man's Sky added in for good measure. Cool concept. Wish I could play.
Unprompted nerd moment: neodymium is a pretty cool metal. Mainly notable for being a powerful magnet. Used for a specific kind of laser. But mainly in things like microphones or speakers where tiny yet powerful magnets are useful
I have been really looking forward to this walkthrough and play along with it. Thanks as always for the quality content and a early christmas present ;)
there is also a "wanted" trait that makes you encounter bounty hunters quite frequently which is great to level many ship related skills since they need you to destroy many ships... im too lazy to rewatch the whole video, so sorry if you mentioned it without me noticing. i wish you all the best for your walkthrough and cant wait to see how you master this beast of a game 🙂
2:12 I remember making that exact comment when you started mining manually in Skyrim. It's funny to see it become a meme response whenever you act out of character.
Slack delivers the good. You never fail to break everything down. I'm liking the tank build. Perhaps a better soldier than the soldier for survivability.
Great walkthrough! Some thoughts on the perks: - Kid Stuff ship is called "Wanderwell." It's much better than the Frontier but not as good as some others that you get later. It can, however jump 27 light years. You also get Sir Livingstone's Pistol, Gran Gran's Spacesuit, your Grandpa's Meatloaf recipe, all of which are good. The meatloaf gives you an XP boost and there's no other way to get the recipe besides having this perk. Also, just like the other perks you can remove this one at any time by kicking your parents out of their home and never seeing them again, which is kinda sad but totally worth it if you want to start making money. So IMO this is one of the best traits in the game. - Adoring Fan is the one trait that doesn't have a real downside other than that he's annoying, but you don't even have to have him follow you around, you can put him on your ship's crew. As a follower he is good because he doesn't care how much murdering you do or at all -- nothing will tarnish his opinion of you. He does get annoying, but it's kind of funny and he's actually less annoying than some of the other companions (Sarah Morgan disliked that).
Re: Kid Stuff...Yes!. First, it's only $500. a week, which starts on the eight day. The best thing is Grandpa's Meatloaf which gives 2% XP for 120 min. and stacks with Well-rested plus some damage resistance for 10 min. The pistol is an ancient 1911ish .45, and the ship Wanderwell which I got after the Razorleaf so it wasn't very useful ( I can't build, customize, modify ships yet...send help.)
I bought the Premium Edition to get the early access, because this was a game i have been looking forward to a long time. But sfter like 15 hour or so I just lost interest, totally bored to be honest. But I learned more from this hour long intro to the game than all the other videos i been looking at. Feel like glitches was the most important to find for many of those. So I gained new hope and dreams for a future in Starfield. Thanks a lot Major, you really deliver content worth watching!
Hero Worship Yes. Yes he is. He's also a free companion/crewmate. You CAN tell him off, but yeesh. You chose this. The Trait did come in use during a speech check against security when you are doing heist for a faction quest. Haven't completed Any Main Story. Have completed most Faction Lines.
Damn, the trap at 0:35 is great (diabolical laughter). And so is the video. Extra thumbs up for the Traits explanation. I have no idea what I was doing when creating Tacticus, my 'companion' character, but I completely missed the traits. No Empath, no Extrovert, no nothing. Dang it, now I am tempted to restart him. He has 50 hours already. Level only 17, as he doesn't quest much, but he has tons of resources stored in the Lodge. I see resource nod, I gather. Can't help myself. And I believe he is in the final step to marry Sarah. Sheesh 😁
Thanks for this. Your walkthroughs are always fun to watch. I´m about to finish my secound playthrough with a same character. My girl is a Cyber runner.
It's like a good old Buddy started the same Game at the same time and he shows me, how he will approach it. We will divert - al lot - and that is great.
I took kid stuff, and the amount you send is capped at 500, so it's more expensive than the house, but the ship alone is 75k if you sell it. You also get a pew pew gun that isn't really good, and you gran gran UC armour that is a good armour for a companion as it has decent stats and is quite stylish, IMO. Since the Lodge basement has infinite storage, I would rather do all my crafting there than at the dream house. Pro and cons I guess :)
Wait a minute. The Wanderwell is valued at 75K but you're only going to get a fraction of that selling it off (13% by default unless you put points into Commerce).
@@MajorSlackAttack indeed, but they are cute when you meet them and your dad is like "We were NOT about to do some Aurora, absolutely not was we planned until we saw you" 😂
58:00 You can do this later, together as well. When you join the UC Navy, one need to complete a piloting simulator mission. After unblocking these Piloting & Targeting skills, you can go to the simulator and do that again and again to destroy ships and get ahead in those skills easily... 😁👍
It appears that the chests you get access to from the "raised" character perks have infinite storage so thats a bonus even if their location is inconvenient. Especially considering the infinite storage chests in The Lodge bedroom and basement.
I found that my playthrough for Kid Stuff capped at 500 weekly once I had a ton of credits on hand. I don’t remember the name of the pistol, but you get a recipe for meatloaf for a health boost, and a ship called Wanderwell that sells for around 20k.
My wife and I have been looking forward to this. On her playthrough, she took Professor, which makes a lot of sense if you want to beeline base-building and an early XP farm . . . in which case leveling becomes easy.
I took Alien DNA, Loner, and Terra Firma. Oxygen was a non-issue right from the start. Ofc I rarely use companions in any game, so this setup works for me.

I have actually been waiting on you to put one of these out for Starfield before I play it. been sitting in my library since it came out.

The best way to level ship skills is to use the UC Flight Simulator. No need to risk life and limb out with actual space pirates. 😎
@@MajorSlackAttack Where’s the fun in that? 😝 😂
The fun is having a steady stream of enemies served up to you on a silver platter instead of having to hunt around in space. 😎
Finally.... We have Starfield professionally dissected Thank you for the hard work!

Awesome video, Slack! We all appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos; I'm excited to see what you have in store for Chewbacca!
Yay, Slack’s walkthrough is up! Now all I have to do is upgrade my computer so I can play this!
Hooray!! Thank you Major Slack!
This is great, while I have about 100 hours in I was waiting to see when you’d start!
Thanks a lot Slack.
Task master combined with Vasco assigned to your ship works pretty well. Can restore your shield in a pinch
I was waiting for this one. LET'S Freaking GO
Slack delivers the good. You never fail to break everything down. I'm liking the tank build. Perhaps a better soldier than the soldier for survivability.
Great walkthrough! Some thoughts on the perks:
- Kid Stuff ship is called "Wanderwell." It's much better than the Frontier but not as good as some others that you get later.
He does get annoying, but it's kind of funny and he's actually less annoying than some of the other companions (Sarah Morgan disliked that).
i dont even have the game but i love watching your walkthroughs
This is awesome. Thanks Slack. I went with Diplomat, empath, kid stuff, and taskmaster.

You can also load that save created before character creation to make a new character and skip the mining segment
The ultimate man-cave. Not in the basement or another room, but on another planet.
I was waiting for this before purchasing. All loaded up and ready to rock.
Brilliant!
It appears that the chests you get access to from the "raised" character perks have infinite storage so thats a bonus even if their location is inconvenient. Especially considering the infinite storage chests in The Lodge bedroom and basement.
Just downloaded Starfield. Needed this video!
I got the kid stuff trait. Haven't got any weapons yet, but my parents look different. I was curious about that. Looking forward to your walk through.
This man is the goat.
I've been waiting for this... 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I found that my playthrough for Kid Stuff capped at 500 weekly once I had a ton of credits on hand. I don’t remember the name of the pistol, but you get a recipe for meatloaf for a health boost, and a ship called Wanderwell that sells for around 20k.
Meatloaf also gives a long xp boost
You rock Slack…it is what it is 😊
Waiting for my copy to arrive today so I can join in this amazing walk through. Quality content as always
My wife and I have been looking forward to this. On her playthrough, she took Professor, which makes a lot of sense if you want to beeline base-building and an early XP farm . . . in which case leveling becomes easy.
Huh. Interesting. My XP farm doesn't require any skill points at all... 😎
I took Alien DNA, Loner, and Terra Firma. Oxygen was a non-issue right from the start. Ofc I rarely use companions in any game, so this setup works for me.
YAY!!!!!!
yay, i finally got Starfield as an early xmas present, I can now binge some Sl4ck :D
