Remember everyone, this was the film that resurrected Marvel and the comic book genre. Without Blade there is no Iron Man, there is no Dark Knight, and there is no Catwoman, okay the first two make up for the third.

Blade's closing line about ice skating uphill is actually amazingly clever, here's why. Think about every awesome movie quote. If you were ever in that situation, you could never come up with a sick quote, you could only think "Damn I had something for this" and you'd come up with something ridiculous and completely off the wall. Blade's line is amazing because it's relatable.
5:37 I bet the director asked snipes to stop laughing his ass off in many of the scenes of this movie, but can you really blame him? He must have had a ball during the shooting of stuff like this.
I hate that there are channels with millions and millions of subs that don't work near as hard or supply this level of content. Then you see that Channel Awesome and Red Letter Media together barely crest one million. Just another thing I can throw on the list of things people do I don't understand.
Even just Snipes alone. He’s the iconic Blade, way more than Cage is the iconic Ghostrider. I can see Ghostrider as someone else easily, but Blade will always be Westley Snipes. This could have easily been have been as big a Financial bomb as Constantine or Dredd.
The nerd rage I have for people who say that Black Panther is the first superhero film with a black protagonist. I know that Marvel didn't really promote this movie, but how is Blade this overlooked? So many people have seen it, but fail to understand its importance. I'm not saying Black Panther isn't an important film. It is, but not necessarily for the reasons some people think.
Dauda András Hey, I'm with you. As a Marvel fan, I would rather just enjoy the films for what they are, all I'm saying is that if people are going to hype a film for what they feel it represents, they should at least do so with the knowledge that other films have made similar and earlier achievements.
Dauda Andrias it was also made political by the equal amount of alt-right fucks who dismissed it and came up with legends about the screenings just because the cast is black
This movie was R, it stars a black super hero, and it came out before X-Men and Spider-Man, this movie deserves more attention, if only Stan Lee cameoed in it
the quote: "some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill" is commenting on the main villains arrogance him thinking that he could "ice skate uphill"
Also the "unnecessary" love interest was added as a way to shock you with the bite. That's why in the actual film the scene is long boring and drawn out for contrast. Was this the best idea? Not really but the first time you saw it don't tell me you weren't surprised.
The reason why you call feminism a "poisonous ideology" is misogyny which ironically enough, toxic masculinity is the real poison here. This is how misogyny works unfortunately because if you're against feminism, then you automatically hate women along with it even if you're not aware of it and this has nothing to do with Mother/Father issues at all (although the only legitimate reason to have Daddy issues though if one had a Abusive one and plus he automatically benefits from Male Privilege) . Also misandry doesn't exist because misogyny in the other hand is institutionalized in our society which is why you can't be sexist towards men.
I think you have reality backwards and insideout by regurgitating already debunked myths while remaining ignorant of reality around you due to your own male privilege showing. But there's no point reasoning with sexists/misogynists like you which is why you believe in them.
Even if I did rebuttal you, it probably would be a waste of time because from my previous experiences handling people like you, you'll probably come up with something out of thin air with no evidence to back it up like you did recently. My only advice to you is either educate yourself or remain willfully ignorant which I have a feeling you choose the latter so I guess we're done here.
+ilyriandevil Fox: OK first off, I started this as a joke for one of my favorite reviewers. Not for a debate about being sexist. First off , people can be sexist both ways. Men are said to have to be strong and muscular and do sports etc. While women are said to be gentle creatures who are subservient to men and who must beautiful etc. These are could be considered the broadest of the sexist/ Sterotypes Both are sexist comments but the male one merely is accepted in society. People can still be sexist toward other genders, not just female. Second, what will fighting in a youtube comment section under a joke do for either argument? Three: I love both strong male and female characters, which many strong female characters are being shown the light many times now. Fourth: Also of you both are putting each other down because of gender, THAT'S BEING SEXIST. Not to mention both of you are both created from a similar amount of atomic elements and the only thing truly different about you both is a X and a Y chromosome. Or we could talk about how in the grand scheme of the universe, we all are on a spec of dust. In short, stop fighting and just enjoy the joke. If not, please continue on with this comment somewhere it could probably do something.
*Security officers open fire on Blade, bullets strike blades vest* "Are you out of your damn mind?!" *Security runs away* Shame on you for not mentioning this hilarious bit Critic.
I think it means that some people always want to take the easy road to power (even if it's literally impossible) like, when you ice skate downhill it's pretty easy and effortless, "uphill" would implying wanting to climb a hierarchy or something, but ice skating uphill is impossible.
Well, you see in the original Mary Shelley Dracula, the vampires are known for inventing the game of hockey hundreds of years before we think, so they invented ice skates. That’s why we link vampires and hockey skates. Or, that’s all bullshit, and the line was purely included because Westley Snipes thought it sounded pretty cool, and he was a little dictator on set. Snipes only used post-it notes to talk to the director.
While Deadpool isn't the first R-rated comic book movie, it certainly is the first R-rated superhero movie in a long time - especially in this new era where literally everyone is afraid of the R-rating for fear of shrinking their market even a little bit. Even horror movies aim for PG-13 to ensure they can reach broader demographics. For Deadpool to come out brandishing that red banner and say "Fuck you, we know the demographic we want to please" it's just refreshing and ballsy. I'm not even a big Deadpool fan, but that just really impresses me.
Watchmen came out in 2009.That is about years before Deadpool. And I would hardly count V for Vendetta as a superhero movie but even if you did it came out in 2005 about a decade before Deadpool.
SnowyWolborg if he wasn't noticed for his role as Hannibal King in Blade Trinity Ryan Reynolds woulnd't have gotten the role of Deadpool in X-men Origins therefore wouldn't have worked on the real Deadpool movies
Vision Bricks now that we have “access” to the multiverse, making any kind of movie fit in the overall MCU is easy. Not everything has to be inside earth 616 anymore. Dr.Strange and Wanda’s movement throughout the multiverse can even open up a (hopefully) separate X-Men universe; just to keep the larger story more manageable than the comics. You can ignore characters existing in the comics, but trying to explain why the movie Avengers don’t help against freaking vampires would be a tough sell.
@@cjwrench07 it doesn't matter man even in comics most characters are very separate. Just look at X-Men in general. Bad things happen all the time yet The Avengers even having Wolverine in the team don't give a s**h at all. Or look at Daredevil too. That's kinda why i ''don't'' like Marvel putting every character into the same city. BTW MCU is not Earth-616.
i gotta admit, Snipes really looks the part, i mean when i see him in that costume, i dont see the same guy who Stallone was chasing in demolition man, i see Blade, i guess its fitting that when i see him in other media they try to make Blade look like Snipes
From memory it was (M)15+ but, if it was R rated it definitely didn't deserve it, considering they cut a majority of the disturbing stuff out, for example, in the intro when Evey goes for her walk after curfew she originally tries to whore herself to some undercover cops, mind you in the graphic novel she was fifteen years of age... to add to it though the cops begin to try and rape her before V comes to her rescue, another example is the doll burning scene between V and a man named Lewis who had a hand in the concentration camp, after which V brainwashes him to dress like a doll and talk like a baby, there are plenty more but those are two off the top of my head, lets also not forget the film only covers the first half of the novel with other part from further along in the story stiched in, we didn't even get to see Evey take on the personality of V to continue his Idea and philosophy, I just wish the film was never made.
23:45 i actully think that line is smarter than most people realise. frost is trying to become a god, therfore skating uphill. what he dosent understand is the fact is that you cant skate UPHILL. you can only skate down.
I was under the impression that Blade rejecting the cure at the end was his "arc," so to speak, coming to terms with what he was as human-vamp hybrid. Kinda silly, but it worked enough.
Movie:gives exposition Critic:Show don't tell Movie:shows instead of telling Critic:tell don't show 1.Blade's reaction to Whistler being bitten corresponds with his character since you know he's build up as the toughest there is 2.The story is also told from the female lead's perspective and she, just like anyone else wouldn't want to be a vampire especially after seeing how Blade feels about it which is why the cure matters 3.And that is exactly why the scene with his mother isn't "boring filler" - it's meant to prove his point that vampires are morally deprived
Ignore the comments, the Nick Fury film is pretty fun. I mean, it's no "The Dark Knight" or "Deadpool", but it's a fun little spy thriller set in the marvel universe. It's also the ONLY time you'll get to see Madame Hydra in a movie.
Actually, I always considered Blade movies stand alone films even though they were based off a comic book character. True, Blade comics came first, but nobody knew about him before Wesley Snipes, comics just threw in the idea of there being a Black, badass vampire hunter and Snipes and the film did all the rest which became a massive success. Nobody went to see this film because they read the comic (because hardly anyone did) instead they enjoyed the trailer and liked what they saw. As far as I'm concerned Snipes IS Blade. Snipes is to Blade, what Harrison Ford is to Indiana Jones. I love Blade and it's a kickass movie that still holds up and is definitely far more memorable and entertaining than most of MCU, rather watch Blade 10 times than any MCU movies again. Blade 2 is also pretty damn good.
Its not called a zombie, its a ghoul...kind of like a zombie, but not. Ghouls in vampire lore are explained differently in different places, but essentially they are the state between a vampire and a human. It requires more than just being bitten to become a vampire, just being bitten makes you a ghoul. For example, in one fictional universes lore the infected human must drink vampire blood to complete the transformation, if not they become a ghoul. Often ghoul's lack intelligence and free will, not being ruled by an overwhelming need for brains, but by the vampire that bit them, like an undead slave. In other lore, ghouls can be minions summoned by necromancy, most often from the corpses of victims of the vampire. I will say though, that the blade movies play really fast and loose with vampire mythos and even its own mythos making it hard to get a read on what things are and how they really are meant to work.
+DeathssynProductions In Vampire: The Masquerade and Requiem, Ghouls are created just by directly drinking the Vampire's blood if you're mortal but if you're a Vampire already, then you become blood bonded to the Vampire you drank your blood to especially if you drink their blood three times.
I remember Skulduggery Pleasant had that whole Ghoul thing, except they were called "Infected" in those books. In that case, Humans bitten by a vampire enter a mindless zombie-like state in which they are completely obedient to the vampire that bit them for 2 days, and then they properly transform.
+Moonshadow Dark From what i've heard, Zack Snyder isn't bad as long as the studio gives him good people for plot and story telling that can overrule him. As long as he only does the visual part of the job, he's fine.

AGAIN, just to bring in someone and we get a line about her being his daughter. She could've just as well been some rando since there's no connection at all. They even forced HHH in there trying to ride the wave that The Rock created. It was treated like a vehicle for so many up and comers instead of an epic we should've gotten. So he was like "Fuck it". The tone has shifted to trying to blame him, but it was a very different narrative at first, with many saying he was trying to get fired so he still get paid.
.....I do hate that we didn't get the alternate story though. Where Frost wins and it becomes an apocalyptic world, ending with him gaining some power or weapon to finally kill him at the end of the trilogy. Would've been awesome!

This movie REALLY needs to start getting more credit

There was no Marvel Studios branding in 1998
Metor man was the first black superhero movie.

the quote: "some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill" is commenting on the main villains arrogance him thinking that he could "ice skate uphill"
Also the "unnecessary" love interest was added as a way to shock you with the bite. That's why in the actual film the scene is long boring and drawn out for contrast. Was this the best idea? Not really but the first time you saw it don't tell me you weren't surprised.
The "blown up news paper factory" is to emulate the comics which came out in a time that New York didn't look a whole lot better than the movie shows.

You're a misogynist it seems....
These are could be considered the broadest of the sexist/ Sterotypes
Both are sexist comments but the male one merely is accepted in society.
It still amazes me that people will get Little Caesar's and won't get crazy bread. WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE?

Blade: "Some mother**kers are always trying to ice skate uphill."
Me: "What does that have anything to do with killing vampires?"
Joseph Womer What does it even mean
I think it means that some people always want to take the easy road to power (even if it's literally impossible)
like, when you ice skate downhill it's pretty easy and effortless, "uphill" would implying wanting to climb a hierarchy or something, but ice skating uphill is impossible.
Attempting something foolish for the sake of ego and pride.
Doing the impossible. But it just sounds cool before killing a guy.
That why audiences are going now to the Japanese Horror more now than in the past, apart that they are a thousand times much better.
Uhhhhhh Watchmen and V For Vendetta were both R- rated
Watchmen came out in 2009.That is about years before Deadpool.
And I would hardly count V for Vendetta as a superhero movie but even if you did it came out in 2005 about a decade before Deadpool.
Don't Censor Super came out 2010 and is also R-rated
Wasn't that more of a parody of super hero films?

Who would've thought Blade would be apart of the MCU now, the MCU is full of surprises!
Did Nostalgia Critic put up all the R rated comic book movies before Deadpool and not include V for Vendetta? That was a comic book movie too, mate.
yeah but it wasn't written by Marvel or DC and he was focusing on the two big names
Zone Doll V for Vendetta is a DC comic
There is no much blood in V for Vendetta really, it is hardly 'R'.
Allow me to bring up the point in five words "That was a comic book?"

1.Blade's reaction to Whistler being bitten corresponds with his character since you know he's build up as the toughest there is
2.The story is also told from the female lead's perspective and she, just like anyone else wouldn't want to be a vampire especially after seeing how Blade feels about it which is why the cure matters
3.And that is exactly why the scene with his mother isn't "boring filler" - it's meant to prove his point that vampires are morally deprived

Say it with me, a Ghoulpire
haha
+DeathssynProductions
In Vampire: The Masquerade and Requiem, Ghouls are created just by directly drinking the Vampire's blood if you're mortal but if you're a Vampire already, then you become blood bonded to the Vampire you drank your blood to especially if you drink their blood three times.
In Hellsing you have to be a virgin to become a vampire, otherwise you become a ghoul
I remember Skulduggery Pleasant had that whole Ghoul thing, except they were called "Infected" in those books. In that case, Humans bitten by a vampire enter a mindless zombie-like state in which they are completely obedient to the vampire that bit them for 2 days, and then they properly transform.
