The blue was a great choice. It let you actually see the action in a movie primarily set at night. So many movies now are so dark it is legitimately difficult to see everything happening.
Hmm, yes, it also gives it this short of monochromatic unity. Whenever I think of the film, I do think of the blue scenery.
This is still legitimately difficult to see.
Pennsyltucky Counter Terrorism, I watched all the movies in a laptop that could barely run paint, and I could still see it. Is the brightness well in your device?
I can see whats happening in AVPR my favorite Aliens vs Predator movie 😁😁
The blue tint from the film gives it's an truly gothic vibe.
8:07 ACTUALLY. Fun fact, the idea of not being able to see Vampires in mirrors was because mirrors used to be made using silver and since that’s a holy metal it would not show their reflection. I’ve always taken that as their mere image being burned by the silver in the mirror
It was the same thing with cameras last I was aware
I like the Dr Who explanation more.
@@legojedi626 which is?
*mind blown*
@@thomastakesatollforthedark2231 That vampires are alien fish people using specialized cloaking devices. The cloaking devices make us think they're human, but we can't see their reflection in a mirror because our brains aren't able to process their reflection due to the cloaking devices (or because of their species). On top of that, they create more by taking certain human and replacing our blood with theirs.
So Michael Sheen has played a vampire, an angel and a werewolf, huh?

Kate Beckinsale's outfit, Bill Nighy's performance, and the werewolf effects are the reasons I love this movie. Oh yeah, and Michael Sheen.
That ass in those leather tights 🤤
IMHO, Selene is the better Edward. Michael is the considerably more interesting Bella. As a Buffy fan, I'm really okay with the Underworld series.
I’m just happy that this movie is the exact opposite with the way they portray vampires and werewolves. Seriously there is no way I can take Twilight’s vamps and wolves in a serious manner. Whereas Underworld’s vampires and werewolves look legitimately threatening.
Why is Michael Sheen typecast as “Smily, slightly defective supernatural being”?
Because he's awesome in that character, that's why!

Lucian is the best character. Which is why Rise of the Lycans was the best of the series 🖤
I agree
Definitely
Michael Sheen surprisingly butch as the hero, plus Bill Night chewing scenery brilliantly. I don't know if I'd say it's the best, but Rise of the Lycans was great (except for that hilarious sex scene!) and 1 and 3 are the best of the series.
True. Atleast Lycans and Vamps were fighting with swords n shit. I really liked that time period. I only saw it once so I don't remember much.
They went a little overboard with the desaturation though, even the torches are bluish-gray.
I actually like the constant seriousness because her love for her daughter and Michael show through and make the emotion a little more meaningful knowing that her disposition doesn't generally show emotion.

@@ChannelAwesome Hey can Nostalgia Critic do a review of Star Vs The Forces Of Evil with Critic bashing Starco please
Ahem NERRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDDDD!
Long black coats is a goth thing I love gothic fashion and aesthetics. But I also love emotion and relatable characters which is sadly lacking in a lot of these kinds of movies. Gothic things can actually be really good not just boring angst. I'd like to see more gothic and vampire movies that realise this.
It's kinda ironic since goth culture and the media that sprang from it was all about exploring pathos and not just dress in black and be all boring angst, as you put it, just for the sake of it.
If you have some great 'goth/fetish' movies.
I like the fetish latex, rubber catsuit, but sensual stuff are not enough to make a character, even a hypnotic one.
I remember some old Hammer,Giallo,Dellamorte Dellamore,Bitten,Lost girl,the crow,Addams family,Elvira,interview with a vampire...
@@Sam-Lawry Not a movie or traditional gothic but I love the anime Hellsing Ultimate. Lots of energy and emotion despite the gothic & vampire themes.
I particularly loved the Interview With the Vampire, books and movie. Although there is some 'boring angst' in it, it actually feels earned as the series explores the lives of vampires including the highs and lows and the cost of immortality in a lot of depth and was one of the first pieces of fiction to explore the idea of the vampire in a non-corny and conventional way. Lestat is a fun character.
What's the difference between boring angst and interesting angst? Is it just quality of acting?
@@ThreadBomb Well Im just using the term boring angst to refer to things like dull colours with characters staring sadly out the window talking about their sadness and pain (for example Bella Swan from Twilight). What makes it boring is when you dont care about the character or their problems because thats pretty much all there is to them. A real human has a range of emotions and personality and you need to show those sides to feel attachment to them (as Doug says in this review). You can have angsty themes and scenes but they should be earned and more balanced out. That way it actually has an impact and meaning and makes it interesting. For example if youve seen the show Daredevil on Netflix. Matt Murdock is an angsty dude often and the show is gritty, but you also see other sides of his personality and theres also more light hearted scenes. His character is well developed and the show takes you through his thoughts and experiences so you know where the angst is coming from so it makes you care about how he feels.

Viktor isn't an average vampire. The dude took half a lycan's face off with a punch and saw transformed ones as a minor inconvenience. The fact that Michael did so well as a neophyte hybrid shows just how powerful a hybrid is. We later see how powerful hybrids are in the sequel with Michael being a little more used to his power and with Markus absolutely annihilating everything in his path. So yeah. Hybrids are stronger than both.

Annnnd the vampire at the end with the chainwhips looked back because like an idiot he got it caught on the stone.
He should do Scooby Doo curse of the lake monster
Yeah, that Michael Sheen joke is really struggling considering... Good Omens XD
There's literally so many quotes he can use from the show, I can almost imagine him putting "You can't kill me! There'll be paperwork!" when he dies
12:45 maybe Michael should’ve been the comic relief, not be a goof but have a funny scenes, have him be sarcastic, kind of optimistic, try to leave all. This. And have a few emotional scenes like have him crying breaking down wonder how and why he got involved with all this, and Selen tries to comfort him but she spent so long bottling up her feelings she doesn’t know how.
This was my first exposure to Michael Sheen. He's really the best character in the movie and I liked the prequel, Rise of the Lycans.
I liked the prequel better than this one, actually. It was a dang good movie.
I can’t believe Tamera killed the dinosaurs!!
😜🤣
I thought it was THE ICE AGE!!!
19:35 "Exposition to the thickest accent".. Inception feelings (Japanese guy)
