I went into full menopause at 40 from fasting. Finished at 47 and couldn't be happier with the results. The other side of menopause is pretty great, I'm super healthy, OMAD 5 days a week and 1 48 hour fast once a month or so. I'm 50 and have never felt better 😊 Thanks for all of this great info and helping women navigate fasting as it's so different than it is for men!. I fasted through menopause and no hormone replacement as my mom got breast cancer from hers. With a healthy diet, supplements and fasting, I only really had issues with night sweats.

My best health was in my mind 50s because of better eating habits and with eliminating bad processed foods. This was well before I discovered healthy Keto. I love healthy keto veg's protein and healthy fats. ACV with lemon in my water. Keto on girls. Greens are our friend.

What do you mean by full menopause at 40 and finishing at 47? (I'm under the understanding that after 1 full year of no cycles you enter menopause.) Did you have 7 years of a perimenopause?

I hadn't had a period for 9 months at 39 so I was tested as they thought I may have had cancer. My doctor said I was fully in menopause as I hit my 40th birthday. I had 7 years of symptoms then they all just went away.

I believe my late mom’s heart disease was exacerbated by HRT so I had no intention on going on hormones when I reached that age. Turned out the medical establishment did a 180 by the time I was at that age. Ironically, I had no discernible menopausal symptoms. My period just started lessening until it was no more…I think by the time I was 50. I’m 64 now. After I was in menopause I felt so good that I stopped going to the gynecologist for about 6 years. Then I thought maybe I should go just get Pap smear etc and I told the Dr sorry but I was feeling so good I didn’t think to come. She laughed and said “you’re lucky”! Everything was fine. 😂

I like to do a 72 hour fast 2 times a year. I wait until April instead of January. Too hard to come off a holiday binge to stop eating all of a sudden. Then again in November pre holiday.
I am 62 years old. It’s definitely a hard thing to do. I have had great success. I plan to just relax and enjoy my day with as little stress as possible. I am lucky enough to have that option.

I am a healthy 70 year old woman who exercises - walking the hills, yoga and weights. Periods ceased at 60. Like Dr Hyman I am blessed with a body on the thinner side. I also do not want to loose muscle, which are thin to begin with… Thanks for all the valuable info. 🤗

I’m coming into the menopause age. My wonderful Dr I had for many years retired. I went to a nurse practitioner. I read up on menopause a little before my appointment. She literally didn’t know much more than I did about menopause. Her focus seemed to be younger women of child baring age. I was quite disappointed. I never saw her again.

The biggest thing for me is that I'm 51 with two young children. We got married late and our kids are 7 years and 10 years old. It's hard for me to slow down because I have a full time job, 2 kids with activities and a house and hubby...plus 2.5 hours of commuting every day. My husband works opposite shift than me so I'm with kids alone for activities nights and weekends. I believe my horrible menopause symptoms and weight gain are because of the amount of stress along with the hormone change that started with menopause 2 years ago at the same time my father became ill with brain seizures and was bed-bound in our home and then later his home that I helped care for until he passed. I'm SO thankful to hear that I can work and FIX my hormones and health and most importantly my strength by fasting!!! THANK GOD to you Dr. Mindy!!! You are CHANGING my life and I hopefully will be around to see my kids grown up and have children of their own! God bless you!

My struggle is the 10-11 days of no fasting. And loving self. I was thinking just eat when I’m hungry. I’m usually only hungry 11-4. Is this thinking in alignment with Fasting Like a Girl? I believe I’ve got this. Thank you for the book. I’ve shared you to many of my girlfriends. We all want to share it with our daughters.

OMG! This is gold! There is such a gap in medicine about hormones and women’s health. I would like to remind women here that there is such a thing as natural plant based (phytoestrogens) creams out there. And they work! They have none of the side effects of synthetic hormones. They have been a lifesaver for many women.

I started the 48 hour fast at 2pm for the weekend. I think I can make it to Sunday at 2 pm. Excited to try it. I need a restart. September is a good goal for 72 hour fast. I’m having all my health tests done this year and so far all results are good. Battle of the bulge has been the only challenge. Let’s see if this fasting helps me.

I was so happy with myself now again I feel out of control. It's not my weight so much but my in and out of keto. Sibo again cramps headaches ect. And weight sometimes. There are polymorphisms that can make fasting one of the most unpleasant experiences of your life. Many of my liver pathway II enzymes have reduced or no function and if you fast your system just gets overwhelmed with toxins after a couple of days. That's something worth knowing. I wish someone had told me that before my medically assisted fast. It took me many, many weeks to recover from the effects of fasting

Always love the “drug and alcohol” reference. They are not remotely the same not even close. Sugar can be broken in a coupe of days whereas the addiction of alcohol or drugs is NEVER gone. Do you EVER see a person selling their children on the street corner for a Twinkie!

great content, but the title is a bit misleading. I clicked on it to hear about when is a good time in my cycle to do a 72 hour fast and i don't think she really gave a guide on that. Guess will have to buy the book for it :/

You can fast in 10 days from the day 1 of your cycle (when bleeding start), then you can in 16. - 19. day longer IF, not in 12.-15., 20. - end.

Very curious about how this might play in for naturally thin, postmenopausal women (i just came off of HRT, after taking it for almost 10 yrs, and on my own accord, while my male Gyn questioned why I would 🙄) with GERD as not eating can have negative, enhanced effects on stomach acid production. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! 🙏🥰🙏

I was _forced_ to work on my gut microbiome when I developed a nearly life-threatening (asthma an 8 of 10) histamine intolerance. I couldn't eat _anything_ (low-histamine or not because of my body's release of histamine as part of the digestion process) without triggering an asthma attack. After 6 months of IF and longer (3-day fasts) and eating super clean low-histamine food I'm able to eat histamine rich foods with no reaction at all. I'm actually glad it happened or I never would have focused so intensely on my gut health. Never again will I mess it up; I've worked to hard to get myself straightened out.
