    I have had customers come into my dealership with the fuel "device" installed as well as ones for the intake and vacuum lines. What they "do" is align the particles in the air and gas into a straight line to help them flow better into the engine.
    One car in particular had 4 of them on the intake and 3 on the fuel line. And as you guys proved we laughed our asses off at them for it.

    The anti-static strap is a real item. By creating an alternate path for the static electric to go, it keeps you from a shock. Use to sell them when I worked at NAPA. It's not as big an issues today. Most OTR Trucks used them when transporting flammable liquids.

    That grounding strap was a thing in the 70's, at least in Sweden. The gas stations sold them and you saw them on a lot of cars. Never saw one screwed to the exhaust though, as they usually were screwed to the chassis somewhere around the rear axle. I remember asking about them and being told they prevented the car from acquiring a static charge so you didn't get that zap when you touch the car that you sometimes get in the summer when the air is really dry. I can't really say when people stopped using them but I think it was about the late 70's or early 80's.

    I work in a chemical factory, the first “mod” is used on all our fork lifts, to ground them out so they can’t create sparks and ignite a fire from the chemical fumes. No idea why you need one on a car tho...

      Mainly for kids who get back in their car while pumping gas. Since they can sometimes just hop out without touching the metal of their vehicle, the static could spark on the nozzle and cause an explosion.

      City buses have them. Look underneath and you'll see the tail dragging on the ground. :) Does the concept work? Yes. Is this a quality product that won't wear down to nothing in one mile? I have no clue. Probably better off with a piece of thick copper grounding strap, a bismuth fishing line sinker, and a hose clamp. JB weld the sinker to the strap an inch or 2 from the end, and hose clamp the other end to a metal chassis point like the exhaust in the center of the car so nobody sees it. Done. 👌 Probably cheaper and more effective.

      @justinbueche7315 3 роки тому +4

      Plus with a hint of salt, they're probably useless (the commercial ones) due to them obviously not touching the ground most of the time and tires serving as a better grounding wire, again, with a grain of salt.

    • @dr.whoops
      @dr.whoops 3 роки тому +5

      Yeahhhhh that little grounding wire on that thing isn't enough.
      The factory I work at, every forklift has them, but they are just a decently thick wire that touches from usually the middle of the lift...
      Had one actually get caught on the ground some where and jolt the driver enough that they had an injury from it 😬

      Straps nor tires work as grounding devices. The vehicle itself acts as a Faraday cage. The steel is close enuff to ground that electricty basically goes around n down.

      1 in 10 or so of all cars had those antistatic straps when I was a kid in Northern Europe in the 70s and early 80s. Unlike the ones on forklifts etc. they didn't wear down as fast as you'd think, as they barely touched the ground when the car was at speed, getting lifted by headwind, to then drop to the ground and hopefully discharge any static on the chassis once you stopped. I do remember them being like a rubberized thinner version of a battery ground strap though, not just a pair of twisted wires. And it was mostly the squares and granddads who mounted them to their Opel Kadett's, Ford Escorts etc. to not get zapped by static while getting in or out, not for any sort of "coolness", but just purely for comfort reasons. Was the days of polyester clothes and anything else fabric, so there was plenty of opportunity, believe me. Did they work? No clue what so ever. On one hand bone dry tarmac doesn't conduct much, on the other hand humid or wet weather keeps down static quite well as is. But you sure saw a lot of them.

    I remember ground straps to be quite frequently occurring on cars till late 90's in The Netherlands. Mounted between the rear axle and rear bumper/fender, not around the tailpipe 🙈 As a kid (around 6yo) I used to think it was for electric cars, the same way bumper cars take electricity from the ceiling. My dad told me it was to prevent static shocks after I asked him if my assumption was correct 😂

    The first product, a grounding strap, is usually for vehicles that are carrying expensive electronic equipment or explosive items. I have seen many welding trucks or other contractor vehicles with it. I don't know if they are really effective, but maybe. I have never had it on my work truck. But maybe if I see a study proving it I would add one.

    The earth ground is a real thing to ground a car or truck some 18 wheelers and welding trucks we use in the oilfield have them installed to prevent explosions and flash fires due to static electricity.

    Hint: there's four of them, one on each corner.

      Yikes, hopefully there's no appreciable metal shavings in your fuel lines... the only place they'd come from is your fuel pump, but the bearings are lubed by fuel and last a very long time. Probably not even ferrous bearings. Idk why I wasted time typing this, anyone who buys the magnets deserves to have running issues so they can't drive the car. IQs that low should not pilot a 2 ton chunk of steel.

      Yes, it will do as advertised, untill you melt your pistons.

      @@Narcosyn lol you won't melt anything by not getting enough fuel into your chamber. Your car just won't have a rich enough mixture, and it'll underperform and stall and such I guess. And it doesn't squeeze. It's mostly magnets

    I rarely ever check out the channels of someone a UA-camr has on as a guest, but decided to try and give it a shot this time. You are legit pretty funny dude! I watched a few of your videos and subscribed, now to see if UA-cam's algorithm doesn't bury your stuff under all the other people I am subscribed too.
    UA-cam really needs to bring back subscription folders, then we could organize that stuff again!

    These earth belt stuff were very common in the 90's 2000's here in france. We still see them but not as much. True they wear out when you drive slow but above 15mph they stay in the air and fall back down when you park to prevent the annoying sparking as you close the doors.

    Those earth belts can be found on electric trolley buses, yes they rub off and you are supposed to replace them.
    So that is what they are for, grounding whole bus.

    4:42 I just saw that propeller diffusor on Amazon the other day! I was looking for mint air fresheners to help keep spiders out of my car that stays parked most of the time. I saw something cooler that looks like a gyroscope or something with a marble that has the Solar System etched in it. I didn't get it because it's way too expensive.
