While I know at this point they are the most canon that they are ever going to be, Its still nice to see little hints and teases here and there. 10:05 - Ok just 1 shipping question (im sorry not sorry).. We saw some lines in Frontiers with Sonic wishing he can share an umbrella with Amy.. In Superstars we see a visual graffiti of the 2 sharing an umbrella. Can you elaborate on any of these teases?

13:56 - Sonic frontiers OST goes hard and I for one am obsessed. I drive long distances a lot and it's one of the soundtracks I vibe to when I have to concentrate. What music, band, OST do you listen to when you need to vibe? It doesn't need to be sonic related. Same question to Kyle!
16:06 - While writing for any Sonic TV show / Comic or Game.. Have you ever felt “This wont’ get past Sega” but pleasantly surprised when said content was passed? I’m still shocked by the amount that Boom was able to do.. Small towel comes to mind.

I found out recently that those lines Sonic had about Amy were also in the Japanese script. They're apparently trigger lines.
For the surprise Kazzie appearance, we ride on the Algorithm Quest!
Thing is the umbrella line is actually in the final release, However is missin on the Nintendo switch port and the PC port

Would love to see Amy get her own game like princess peach. It was so nice to see Amy origin story be written from the damsel in distress to a member of team sonic (even though she has always be a huge part of team Sonic (sadly not officially recognized by.sega until recently it took them a while) thank you for making Amy mature to be the amazing hero she is today where she will help anyone in need and befriends people like Shadow, Surge, omega, zero.....etc. I love that Amy is finally get the limelight of showing her incredible strength and power hope to see more of that in the games and comics. Also thank you to whomever worked on the new dynamic of Amy and sonic I definitely prefer this new dynamic then the one where Sonic would be a huge jerk to Amy by leaving her behind or avoids her hugs and puts his hand to her face in a rude manner. Instead he listens to her input allows her to hug him in both the comics and games and I especially love that Sonic loves to tease Amy and that the teasing is mutual💙🩷✨️😍🥰
The umbrella line isn't unused, I got it when I played on XBOX ONE and I got no mods installed, don't even know how to install mods on console lol.
I also don't get the thing about Sonic and Amy not being a thing on occasions not getting acknowledged. She was one of Sonic's love interests in the Test of Love in 06, they planned a date in Unleashed (both willingly mind you), they WENT on that date in Black Knight, yes it's been a thing like, what? Mandela effect aah aah stuff.
You’re forgetting you’re relying on games a decade old. Sega changes their stances on stuff like underwear.
When Ian Flynn was saying here actually kinda implied back in Unleashed though. The idea of Amy not chasing Sonic being maybe NOT what he wants. In Unleashed, after he's initially uncomfortable with her hugging out of nowhere, he gets really depressed when she doesn't recognize him as the Werehog. I always saw that as "Okay, I did it. She's finally stopped chasing me. ...Why do I feel so bad about it?"
It was probably unintended, as said here Amy's writing has been all over the place, but I always viewed Unleashed as the turning point that started their modern dynamic.
With 06 and Unleashed those two were mainly just choices to throw in and had very little effect on the games as for Black Knight I think the manual did say that it was a reluctance or something along those lines
Please excuse this long rambling comment.
I remember watching an old interview online once. Fans at a comic con were asking questions, in English and two gentlemen from Sega were, with some help from translators, answering.
They told the fans, at that time, that Amy was "like Minnie Mouse."
And I completely understand and respect that from a design standpoint, that's valid.
But I still strongly felt the urge to throw my shoes at them and reply:
Are you kidding me?! Minnie and Mickey accepted each other IMMEDIATELY. I've seen the cartoon where those mice met. They rescued each other and fought off a pervy bad guy together in that same episode.
Amy has had a very different experience.
Which is not a totally bad thing. It's relatable. Life is not always clearly defined.
So if I may...
I'd like to join Kazzie in sincerely appreciating your work, Mr. Flynn.
Thank you for helping the Sonicverse characters gradually become themselves. Thank you for recognizing that these stories have value and are worth telling.
I hope Sega can appreciate that more as well these days.
Much respect for Minnie, by the way. I like to imagine she's running the business side of the magic kingdom more than we are shown.
And I'm sure that Amy and maybe Dot Warner could have a wholesome if slightly explosive ladies day out with Minnie, if given an excuse.
But yeah. I strongly agree. It's kinda damaging to the credibility of the company - and to these characters - to just keep dangling the carrot for dramas sake. I'd rather see the SonAmy ship allowed to sink peacefully so the characters can relate to their world in healthier ways.
Or, you know, bring back Nicky and have modern Amy end up in an actual healthy ship with that version of Sonic.
Whatever works best for healing this messed up fictional Multiverse.

This is the first time I've heard about the graffiti of Sonic and Amy sharing an umbrella in Superstars.
Granted, I still haven't gotten around to beating the game yet. I need to get to that sometime.
Hopefully they tone down the difficulty of the next mainline game.

It's funny, since fans complained that base Frontiers was too easy.
Though I do agree that we need a more balanced difficulty next time.
Shared universes can be fun, but I agree about possible bloat being a risk. Hell, I'm trying to write a shared universe fanfic for Sonic, and it's challenging trying to decide what I should put in without it becoming too big. Not to mention avoiding as much contradictions as possible.
Interesting context on the "should've made up my mind sooner" line, being in response to her decision at the end of her subplot. I'd always assumed it was because of how much danger they were both in due to Cyberspace. (It's not like Sonic to think they can't get through something, but between the Metal Virus and now this he and his friends have been through some rough situations lately) Wonder if, assuming the line is used, it's only flagged to appear after last story event?
The umbrella dialogue (at least) wasn't actually cut its just really hard to trigger like the rest of Frontiers Sonic dialogue which gave into the impression it was.

I actually like your first answer to that question, I mean it’s a daunting amount of power to have. I do agree to keep the games separate from other media, to keep the mainline games accessible.
…although, I would say that would allow for a sub-series, much like that how the Film Series is separate from the games. One based off of the previous continuities that could be for both an older audience in the Teens, but also for old school fans too. :)
Heck, do a Transformers Regeneration One and continue the old continuity of Archie. Post-Reboot *could* even be a prequel to the IDW Series as that lines up more with the games anyway. XP
27:23 For me, the “hardest” part was the final tower’s challenge. I immediately switched to easy due to me already knowing it wasn't the greatest (this was before the update apparently made it more balanced), and I still struggled to get past it. But the reason I put “hardest” in quotations was because a part of me doesn’t even want to say it’s my fault. I beat the fifth Pantheon in Hollow Knight twice! I fully S Ranked every Sonic game I played before this! I want to blame the bosses’ terrible telegraphing, but I know other people have done it on hard mode. And I know I would’ve beat it sooner if WYVERN WASN’T SUCH A-
Apart from that, the climb up the second and fourth tower was also difficult for me. Not completely unfair, thankfully. I did clip through a wall I was running up in the third tower and fall all the way down, though. Apart from that, I loved the _fair_ challenges the game presented (even if I preferred the main game's final boss).
the towers in the exspansion suuucked. i did a video on a strategy for the titan tower. idk if you beat the 2nd one by this time ian, but if you havnt try to abuse the parry on the enemys. you should have just enough time. unless they decreased the time with a patch.
Ian, you can repeatedly parry the shell as it returns if it attacked you.

Ok, Mr. Flynn, I love your wortk on the comics, and loved your script for sonic frontiers. But I was listening to the latest bumblekast, and I wanted to make sure I understood;
In the Q&A, you were basically saying you wrote dialogue in Sonic Frontiers to end Sonamy by having them 'move on', and Sega basically 'noped' you and protected Sonamy by cutting the dialogue?
To be honest, those hidden lines about Amy sound very out of character, I just can't imagine Sonic saying those kinds of lines about anyone, especially Amy. She has not given him enough reasons for him to feel the same way about her, rather she has given him many reasons NOT to reciprocate her feelings, Sonic having feelings for Amy feels forced and without enough solid foundations, and it is something out of character because he's not AS shy as people think he is, plus he's someone who doesn't believe in commitment and who, by his own words, doesn't like being tied to the same thing for more than a week, if you combine that personality with the fact that Amy has given him more reasons not to be her boyfriend than to be, you have a love that is too forced to be realistic
I don't like Sonamy, I wish they just move on and forget about it

@@Djammin14 I think Sonic should always stay single, it suits his personality more, he should not be with anybody in a romantic relationship
@@peacockqueen A part of me agrees, but I think him having a relationship could allow us to see a more vulnerable side to him, outside of his friendships. I’m not saying he has to be in one, but I think it’d be interesting to see how he’d act in one. Maybe he’s not as confident or maybe he’s too confident? Who knows. That’s why I want to see it. (But I understand your take)
@@Djammin14 It wouldn't last more than 6 months, most people when looking for a partner want attention, commitment, stability and for that person to dedicate time and physical affection, and we all know that Sonic doesn't meet any of those characteristics, the girlfriend would soon get tired of the hedgehog's attitude and leave him to look for someone who would be a stable partner.
