0:13 - Are you able to share a bit of the decision process on how you choose which characters to use when drafting a new IDW Sonic arc, and do IDW and Sega have heavy influence on which characters get focus for the year in the comics?
3:17 - Will you add major new heroes to IDW Sonic every year, or do you think you’ve reached the saturation point of major new heroes? Curious since it looks like Lanolin is going to become a major character now as opposed to a background character. Between an already large game cast, plus Tangle, Whisper, Belle, Jewel, and maybe now Lanolin there are a lot of cool heroes to divide the spotlight between!
6:06 - You said in an earlier Bumblekast Q&A you received an answer on Blaze in 06 that you can’t talk about. My question to you is does Sonic Team seem interested in sharing what their answer is to the fans at a later date or do you think they’ll keep the door closed on the matter forever? Thanks to 06, I viewed Blaze as a post apocalyptic survivor from the future for a long time instead of royalty from another dimension, so it’d be nice to get closure on why she was portrayed a future denizen.
8:00 - I hear you are now on the lore team. Can you talk about what that will entail in broad terms? If you can’t talk about the lore position at all at this time, what kind of Sonic lore would you like to touch on in the future given the opportunity?
11:15 - In another Q&A you stated the way Silver time travels has not been publicly revealed when a bio on Sonic Channel stating he can travel through time with chaos control was brought to question. Looking at the same bio, it references Silver as a new rival to Sonic. My own interpretation of this is it is alluding Silver uses Chaos control to travel though time in Rivals not just 06 since it was posted a year after Rivals 2. Naturally you can’t talk about the new stuff directly, but are we to consider whatever the new method may be a retcon, and does this mean Sonic, Shadow, and Silver can no longer use chaos control to travel through time? Mostly I just find it weird they set up an entire plot in 06 around using chaos emeralds to time travel to then backtrack on it over a decade later.
14:01 - Speaking of the time traveler, Silver used to be serious and well meaning, but also had an attitude and was ruthless if you look at his earlier games. For example he robbed Tails, left Nega for dead, had a rivalry with Sonic, and infamously tried to kill Sonic. Now Silver is portrayed as, in your own words, a ‘cinnamon roll’. I was curious if this was Sonic Team’s direction or your own take on the character? His IDW portrayal is fairly different from his earlier portrayals, and from what I understand Rivals is canon, so I’d like to hear your thoughts on the differences between the OG Silver portrayal and current.
17:02 - I understand you can’t go into behind the scenes details, but in your opinion does Sonic Team seem disinterested in using Sonic’s other friends in major game plots beyond Tails, Knuckles, and Amy? Don’t get me wrong, as I love those characters very much, but it’s been Generations since we’ve seen Cream in a main game. I think a lot of fans would love to see the same treatment given to the characters in recent media extended to more of Sonic’s friends in future games. At one point in the games there were more major viewpoint characters, and well, we miss them.
20:01: - You explained narratively why Starline kicked the bucket in the comics, but why kill him from a series standpoint since he had already been around for several years? From what I can tell Sonic Team doesn’t kill off recurring characters. Most of the characters that survived their first major game arc are still alive. Eggman Nega might be an exception, but I’m still not convinced he’s dead until Sonic Team says something more definitive.
22:06 - *[Frontiers Spoilers]* Will Sonic fans be required to read the comics going forward for new information on characters or lore? I’m curious since before IDW Sonic was non canon to the games, but now it seems there is going to be greater connection between the IDW comics and the games.
23:08 - Have you ever wanted to test the waters and pitch an IDW story showing Marine with hydrokinesis just to see if it gets approved?
24:26 - In Rush, Rush Adventure, and Generations Blaze can float. Any idea if this is a separate ability from her pyrokinesis? It is sometimes believed that this is based around hot air rising and her cape is giving a hot air balloon effect. However replaying Generations she can float upside down which makes me think maybe that isn’t the answer, but who am I to question Sonic Character physics?
25:47 - I heard you mention recently you’d like to give Tails some sort of a super form. How would you approach this? Knuckles getting something might make sense being the guardian of the Master Emerald even if right now Sonic Team doesn’t want the Master emerald to grant super like forms. Super Amy would make sense if super is a hedgehog thing. Tails though I’m having a hard time thinking of a justification. Allowing Tails to use the chaos emeralds to get a super form would mean pretty much any character could get a super form and like you said before then it wouldn’t be special.
27:53 - Many Sonic characters have a favorite food, but I have’t seen anything directly stated for all characters. Do you know what the favorite foods are for Eggman, Shadow, Rouge, Silver, Vector, and Blaze? If not what are your head-canons?
I feel like the simplest answer to the Blaze in 06 conundrum, is to say the Sol emeralds sent her there to get rid of Iblis. We know from games like Rush and Colors Ds, that the Sol emeralds sometimes randomly treat her as a proxy, to act on their behalf, to either prevent a great calamity, or to help someone in need. I don't think it's far fetched to say they sent her to rid that point in time and space from Iblis, which to her credit, she does do(albeit at the cost of her life). So this lonely and naive Silver guy seemingly has these two strange outsiders pop into his life offering to help. One is genuine, while the other is a manipulator. However Sonic and Elise went back ten years from THEIR present time and blew out Solaris's flame. So the solaris project that created iblis never happens, eggman doesn't die an early death, iblis is never released, the future that is destroyed by iblis never happens, and thus Blaze never gets sent away from her home dimension to save it, and Nega is able to be born. Thus the events of Rush are able to happen. The Sonic that we see at the VERY end of 06, either is going to meet Blaze or already has.
Sonic 06's plot feels less like a tire fire for me, and more like a first draft. It just needed to buff out a few rough edges, like explain why Blaze is helping Silver (Knuckles as well, but to a lesser extent).
Flesh out the personalities of the side characters so they feel less like satellite characters, explain more on the Elise and Mephiles situations, etc.
For Silver being baby from now on, we ride on the Algorithm Quest!
Meh, Marine showed up in one of the IDW annuals. Just address the hydrokinesis there.

I feel like clarifying Blaze's history is something that should be addressed, only because while yes Sonic 06 is a older game, I think most people know Blaze from Sonic 06 because its a mainline game. Yet for whatever reason Sega decided to go with her Sonic Rush origin which less people have played. While I do like her being a princesses from another dimension, if you or someone else do plan on making her a more prominent character might as well clear it up so new fans of the comic who havent seen her since 06 arent confused lol.
I know it your opinion … But This is an terrible idea. Blaze was meant to be a princess from another dimension, and i Think it was an shitty decision that they took someones else’s characther, and just make the characther nothing like the actual characther. And IMO … Fuck Blaze & Silver, the real duo is Blaze & Cream
Sega only goes with Blaze’s origin from Rush was because the events of 06 were erased from the timeline. I think a Similar issue can be seen with Silver.
Sonic Rush sold more than Sonic 06. Sonic Rush sold 1.2 million copies and Rush Adventure sold 300k. Sonic 06 sold 800k and note that Sonic RA came after 06 and that muddied Sonic’s reputation overall. So no, Blaze’s Rush origin is more well known if you want to go by pure sales.

I only thought that because the events of Sonic 06 were literally erased from the timeline evident by the ending. So Sega had to rework Silver and Blaze’s origin. Yes I know Sonic Rush came out first. Silver’s was rewritten in Sonic Rivals.

Maybe this "Tails Gohan arc" could establish that the Super forms maybe aren't as easy to access as Sonic makes it look? Like tapping into the Chaos Emeralds takes practice or something... Just to explain why not every single character bothers with going Super if the floodgates where to ever open.
I always took having the ability to tap into the emeralds as something that is simply inherent to the character and that's why shadow was considered to be the ultimate life form, becasue they managed to make something with the inherent ability necessary to tap into the emeralds on a much higher level than any other being. If Media has shown us anything tapping into the emeralds even on the most basic level is not a simple task even for the likes of eggman. Most can only manage to do it with HEAVY amounts of genetic or cybernetic modifications. It would explain why super tails needs to have flicky's around him when he harnesses his super form because he by himself doesnn't have the ability to fully tap into the abilities of the emeralds. Knuckles knowing his lore has every reason to have a super form, he was practically born to have one, Sonic is a cosmit fluke of epic proportions, Shadow was designed for the sole purpose of doing so, Blaze is for all intents and purposes a sonic level entity in her universe, Silver is probably on the same level as Sonic too. It really only makes sense for them to have a super form because they have shown an inherent affinity for chaos energy. The only other character I could currently imagine even coming close to a super form is Surge.
20:17 Eggman Nega hasn’t been confirmed as dead, but he’s stranded in the Ifrit’s dimension. It’s be hard for him to get out and I doubt there’s anything he can eat there. 21:32 I hope you do make more villains. You make such good villains. Rough and Tumble and Surge and Kit are easily my favorite IDW-exclusive characters.
He has a teleportation device that allows him to travel through time and dimension's, as seen in a sonic channel comic. So i'm sure he can escape and tbh I would rather they not kill him off. Blaze should have her own villain, so Nega should stay. They can just rename him for English audiences if it sounds problematic.

@@creepy.bstanbtsbtw we don’t know if he has it on him when he got trapped in the Ifrit’s world. Also, the canonicity of that comic is debatable. But I WOULD like to see Nega again. He does make a good enemy for Blaze. And he makes a good substitute Eggman.
@@gracekim25 I'm not calling it problematic, it's ppl in the west due to it sounding like a Slur. The word "Nega" sounds a bit odd on its own to them.
With "NegaDuck" or "Nega wisp" it doesn't sound as strange maybe. I personally want them to keep the "Negative" in his name, but maybe change it up a tad bit so he can return without any unnecessary controversy from western audiences.
@@supersonicfan7514 It's a small portable handheld, and I don't see a reason he wouldn't have it on him. I mean, it's his only mode of transport, i'm sure he wouldn't part with it.
He survived being turned into a card, i'm sure escaping the ifrit dimension wasn't difficult for him. Eggman was able to escape the time eater with less advanced technology. Nega has futuristic tech, so it would be stupid to assume he wouldn't have escaped.
And yeah he really should return. I love Flynn but I really wish he wasn't so against the idea of bringing Nega back. He's honestly essential to make Blaze feel more important. She's more than just a princess, she's also the heroine of her world. Having Nega be to her what Eggman is to Sonic, actually gives her more purpose and value.

Hey Bumblekast, got a question that I'm surprised (to my knowledge) no one's asked yet. So in the Frontiers Prologue "Divergence", Knuckles encounters Sage and a Guardian, loses to them, and gets trapped in-between dimensions like the rest of Sonic's friends. Tails and Amy were trapped due to a wormhole but Knuckles had no part in that. Basically, does Sage have the power to trap people between reality and Cyberspace like that wormhole? Would she do the same if Sonic lost to a Guardian or Titan? Or is this simply something the Guardians/Titans are able to do themselves?
For Vector shop lifting ramen (because the poor guy is so poor), female crocodiles have a pouch in their mouth to carry a bunch of their new hatchlings to the water. I don't know if the same applies for male crocodiles nor Vector specifically, but that could mean he could hide a lot of ramen in that big schnozzle of his...

So about sonic frontiers, what the exact order: is it knuckles short then the comic or is it overlap then the start of the game?
the best way a super tails of sort is for tail to make an iron man suit that is powered by the 7 chaos emerald
without their power the suit compres onto his belly under his furr
but if tails hold all 7 at once the suit activated and he basicly gets his own super sonic
others can't get a suit like this because it requires sonic's DNA and tails' reaserch and geniuses to make the suit
I swear, if they had used the word "gullible" instead of "naive" in 06, the current direction for Silver would not be a thing. He was absolutely a jerk in his first few appearances. Hesitating to kill someone is a really low bar to clear, especially when the hesitation doesn't even win out.
That said, I vastly prefer his current characterization. So I'm not complaining, but... it absolutely is a departure.
Can't you just explain what happened to Blaze after Sonic 06 by just saying that her being in another dimension shielded her from her old timeline? Crisis City also appeared in Sonic Generations, so its possible that the apocalypse timeline still exists in some abandoned time limbo. This can also explain why Blaze still has Iblis in her body.
Altho, it doesn't explain how were the hedgeoghs trio able to defeat Solaris and Silver still got to live on an apocaliptic world.
It would be interesting to make a connection between Iblis and the Sol Emeralds. Maybe Burning Blaze gets her power from Iblis.😍

Hi Ian! Let's say Starline gets invited for the first time to an annual convention where everyone with any degree of knowledge of science, tech or similar reunites to show their greatest inventions, without knowing about Starline's intense passion for Eggman's career and legend. What would Starline do there? How much time would he spend looking for Eggman? And what would be his reaction to being informed that the doctor was permanently banned from coming again after last year's "penguinator with an axe" accident?
Personally if I was to give tails a super form/upgrade maybe it could be a mech suit or a Mecha powered by a piece of the chaos emerald I think it would give him something new that isn't just a super form
(around the 15 minute mark) I'm not sure what you're basing that interpretation of 06 Silver on. 06 Silver didn't hesitate with Sonic until Amy infected him with a seed of doubt. He wasn't reluctant until after that encounter. And I wouldn't say they were figuring him out either. Rivals and Forces are a decade apart and are pretty consistent with each other. His "softer" side in something like Colors DS isn't nearly as "cinnamon roll" as you guys portray.
Big agree. Japanese Silver is still pretty in-line with his original dedicated, whatever-it-takes personality. English Silver is the one who's gotten all cute
Hi I have a question regarding sonic cd I was wondering if there were any inhabitants on little planet due to the fact that there are city's shown in collision chaos and stardust speedway and if they're arent inhabitants how come in the good futures theres factories and mines if presumably eggman isn't running them or is it just eggman making these for the aesthetic? I always got the impression that Blaze was "sent" to her alternate dimension when she consumed Iblis. We don't know how she inherited the Sol Empire but that's to be explored. Maybe it fell into place somehow when everyone's memories were wiped, idk. Maybe Iblis has a connection to the Sol Emeralds (or is the Sol Emeralds?) and she was trusted with protecting them since she consumed Iblis? Blaze and others don't necessarily have to know about the events of 06 if you chalk it up to some kind of prophecy thing like the Super Sonic mural on Angel Island. Iblis doesn't have to recognized going forward either, just a fun way he could be tied in!

Sage would probably appreciate mister tinker becasue she could easily keep Eggman safe while he is like that and he could show emotions like love more readily. At the same time she would know that wasn't him and would probably yearn for her father back, seeing the current Mister Tinker as someone who doesn't espouse the same pursuit for knowledge as her father did.
