Chef Jack, you're really good, clear and for a housewife like me who's used to cooking, I appreciate your tempo! You don't drag on with anything...happy to discover you, thanks Jack!
Looks delicious! Definitely going to make it. I do a similar'ish one but the tuna is cooked with tins tomato or pasta sauce, with sauteed bell peppers, onion, garlic, herbs and paprika, bit of cinnamon, nutmeg and olives(optional), add tins tomatos or pasta sauce, drained tuna then mixed into the pasta and served. Can be served with spaghetti also Its a recipe from my brothers spanish mother in law, its yum
@@ChefJackOvens it was absolutely delicious the small amount of lemon gives it a nice little zest without being all about the lemon. Thank you for another great dish of yours I’ve enjoyed
Great and straight recipes as allways ... very pedagogical which is soo nice ...just watching is a joy too even if you dont doo the recipes of some ...
I made this the other night and it was nice. Makes a heap of it too. My partner did tell me his mums is better as she cuts up hard boiled eggs and puts them through hers and has a tastier sauce. I’ll have to ask her for the recipe.
Very nice economical wholesome dish that can feed a hungry family, maybe omitting the cream and adding extra milk. And also if like me, you live alone, you can portion it out to freeze down or eat at your leisure. Well done young man!
thank you so much for this recipe! I loved it! even my husband who doesn't like tuna very much enjoyed and approved it! you rock! please keep up the good work : )
Thank you so much for this recipe, just made it and it tastes amazing! ❤ Been making pasta bake but i learnt something new with you which really takes it up a notch!New subscriber 🤩🥰
Can't wait to try this as I am lactose intolerant and I can just add the cheese to half of it and use Lactaid milk. Thanks for this recipe. Just found you on youtube last week. Can't wait to see more recipes.
I'm a GEN X kid and we grew up having to eat everything that mum cooked, but Tuna mornay was the only thing my mum didn't make me eat, I'm sorry Chef Jack as incredible your recipes are, I'll not be inclined to make it, thanks for sharing, have a great weekend
@@ChrisM541 hey, thanks for the great tip, but any type of Mornay I don't like at all, doesn't matter if it's chicken or fish or any protein, if its in a Mornay 🤢🤢🤮🤮, I've never liked it even from a young age, but that you, I'm just weird
This is impeccable timing! I'm making a Tuna Mornay tomorrow night for dinner, just ordered what I need from Woolies.... A few things in this video are different to how I usually make it so I'll give it a crack! Cheers again!
Honestly never tried with oat milk but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Of course it will change the flavour though. In regards to storage it will last 3 days in the fridge and 3 months in the freezer. Place it back into the oven or microwave until hot.
Hello Jack buddy. I had a quick idea for your video. Hope it is not too late. Can you make a 3 course Valentines dinner video? For us that cannot go out but want to cook something to surprise our significant other.
So impressed with your way of presenting this, that I've subscribed, and this delectable dish is going into the oven soon, whoop whoop! I'll give you feedback asap xxx
I make something similar, but much simpler, macaroni and chopped up sausage with sauce mixed inn and cheese over. Then split it into several glass containers and chill or freeze to have for several days.
@@ChefJackOvens Yeah, I'm not very advanced, but it's pretty good :) I have been thinking about maybe adding something to the sauce (bechamel) to change it up a bit.
I have made this using the exact amount of ingredients in the recipe, but the tuna got a bit lost among all the pasta. Looks like I could have easily doubled the amount of tuna. Otherwise all good. I found that I had to use a bit more milk, like 700ml, but the exact amount can’t be predicted since it depends on the particular flour in question, so no big deal. Already contemplating a lazy lasagna based off this lol))) Thanks for the recipe.
It's not used in this video, but can you please tell me what that pan you use in alot of your videos is with the two handles on the side and no long handle. It's like a deep saute pan. See your sweet and sour meal prep vid in case I'm describing it terribly lol. Thanks.
Never actually baked it before, usually heat it on the stove and throw some corn in as well. Such a simple and delicious dish, will definitely give this a crack next time!
When making the sauce, put all of the milk in at once and keep stirring. And add cheese to it. Then it's a Mornay sauce. You don't need cream. Just put cold milk in and bring it to the boil and cook it for 3 min and keep stirring it so you don't get lumps. It will get creamy on its own. Putting hot milk in has a tendency to make it coagulate. Hot roux, cold milk. Cold roux, hot milk.
Thank you thank you thank you for not using that nasty condensed cream of whatever soup! Lots of recipes use it, and I don’t like that. It’s so much better with regular old white sauce!
Excellent with a superb straightforward presentation. Thank you.
You're very welcome!

I would like to see you actually making a stock with these scraps. Do you just save them all in the fridge or something? Or freeze them?
I usually freeze them when I have the time to make stock. Go check out my beef stock recipe. I use all the scraps 🙏

Lovely dish! Just a quick question, if I may. Does thickened cream equate to double cream? Thanks!! Peter A
It’s cream with a fat percentage of 35% it’s similar to whipping cream or as long as the double cream you’re using is pourable 🙌
@@ChefJackOvens Thank you very much for the clarification, Chef. Greatly appreciated! All good wishes and kindest regards. Peter A 😀
I so wish that pasta wasn't a carb!! Type 2 diabetic and rice, bread, pasta & potatoes are all a weakness!!

Please can you make the most perfect Thai chicken curry ❤️
can you do one with sardines?
Yum!
Is it still a Mornay if the cheese isn't mixed into the sauce?
Technically no but the fact that the cheese melts through the bechamel makes it mornay
