Thanks Again🎉🎉🎉 Your recipes never a fail.!
Thanks for your kind words.
I am definitely doing the Carmel fudge for christmas. Never had tuna caked but I will be making some looks delicious
I grew up poor in NY. My mom used to make these with rice. These have a little more ingredients than my mother's did. They look good. Some of my favorite dinners when I was a little kid back in the 80s...
Qqq3
It's nothing to do with being poor . It's a healthy food . ( It has many names - Tuna chop, Tuna patties & American Tuna croquet )
What did your mom use in hers. I'm looking for something simple with not some much ingredients
Me too!!❤️
@@ashleynicole7532 bread crumbs from 2-4 sl toasted bread, a tbsp of flour , 1 egg, 2 cans Tuna or 1 can Salmon . Mix, form small patties, and fry.
I love how she uses a chopper and we don't have to watch while she chops everything. What a pleasant lovely lady.
I just made this receipe for lunch thank u so much it was excellent.
I’m looking at getting a new mini chopper as mine is so old lol
Growing up Mom made tuna patties with diced onions, garlic salt and pepper. Scrambled with eggs. She was an awesome Mother and cook.😍❤
Try mash potato instead of bread
Oh my goodness! This was the easiest and best recipe I have ever done for fish cakes yum yum! I’m a new subbie! Thank you for sharing
Cheers and love from Canada 🇨🇦
awwww :-) My mom was an amazing cook as well. We live with those great memories. You know they are cooking up in heaven!
God bless your mother!

Awesome thanks 😊
Thank you so much for this recipe. I made it tonight- I decided to coat with half breadcrumbs, half panko and to bake instead of fry. I put coconut oil at the bottom of a pyrex dish, and lightly brushed each top with the oil. I baked at 425F for about 7-10 minutes and it came out super crispy.
Great! So glad you enjoyed these tuna cakes 😋
@@PlatinItWithWendy Yes thanks Wendy,
How does the coconut oil benefit in baking, Kati, please?
What is panko and cilantro.help please
Panko is a type of bread crumbs. You can use any bread crumbs you have on hand. Cilantro is the same as coriander.
The fishcakes look great.
My grandfather comes from a tiny island HELGOLAND, NORTH SEA, GERMANY.
Fishcakes were made from LEFTOVER steamed cod , pots, ( buttersauce , we don't use the buttersauce in the cakes. I wanted to tell you, that the sauce went with the cod dish )
Instead of the fresh breadcrumbs we mashed the boiled potatoes, fried a little diced streaky bacon : cod flaked, fried bacon, egg, salt and pepper, mashed pots and fried the cakes in the bacon fat, delicious.
♥️♥️♥️🇩🇪♥️♥️♥️
That sounds heavenly 😍🥰
I believe many WWII and post war households had fish cake recipes. Fish varied according to what was available, often caught in local ponds, it could mean catfish in the South, trout in the West, etc. My mother's did not include cilantro, chili peppers or tomatoes in hers. She did include a bit of mayonaise for moisture, celery for crunch. When fish wasn't available, a toasted bread crumb mixture with the available vegetables, even peas and carrots, was used. It was dipped in a seasoned, beaten egg mixture then a mix of wheat flour and corn flour. They were fried in rendered lard or tallow. We all should take note of these simple recipes. We may depend on them soon as our families did back then!
Many of the WWII ladies in our community made vegetable fritters, which were the same as you described. They're so good. You're right, if people don't know how to make food, it's going to be really bad
I took a screen shot of your recipe, It sounds yummy.
I've made salmon patties for years, I never thought of tuna cakes. I will definately be trying this.
I made these tuna patties tonight and I recommend these to anyone, they are so good.
I love this presentation. She doesn’t belabor some points, she is concise and extremely easy to follow.
Thanks Pauline 🥰 I’m happy you like my videos and find them helpful.

I hate belaborers!
I make tuna melts with mozzarella and tomato on top. That addition on top of these would be unbelievable and hearty on a cold day. Awesome recipe!
I've made fish cakes for years, similar to these. I used canned salmon instead and celery instead of pepper. My family always loved them. I made a double recipe because they are great to keep, wrapped, in the fridge for a quick snack, smush in a bun,or picnic food .
Love this recipe gonna make it soon
Yummy 😋 I’m going to make some! I don’t know 🤷♀️ why I forget to make them because they are so good 😊
Hmmmm, seems you need to start your very own UA-cam channel.
@@robertlangley258 haha,I wouldn't know where to start
I make these too ...with salmon ❤
My family and I live on the Gulf of Mexico coast. We make crab (freshly caught and cooked) cakes just like your tuna cakes. The crab meat is stirred up with everything in your recipe. We also add a dash or two of cayenne pepper. Shrimp cakes are popular too!I love them! 🤗
Just mix egg into everything its easier
I made a couple changes based on what I had in house. Used red pepper flakes instead of chilies and fresh parsley and dried cilantro since I didn't have fresh cilantro. Did them in the air fryer at 350 F for 5 minutes, then flipped and did other side at 375 F. Spritzed each side with avocado oil. Very crispy results. Very delicious. Thanks for the inspiration.
You've given a great presentation on why we should use our food processors more!
Glad it was helpful!
I grew up making salmon patties at age eleven, that was a special meal for us. Passed the same tradition to my two daughters. I’ve never considered using tuna until now and they were delicious. Thank you for sharing! ❤
A great new version of the humble fish cake my mother used to make in the fifties. Love the bowl too.
Those look great! I even like the leftovers straight from the refrigerator cold on a hot day.
Thanks so much. Enjoy!
I prepared this today. The entire family really enjoyed it. When my most finicky eater asked for seconds, I knew this was a major hit for my family! THANK YOU so much for this recipe. 🤩

Just made these! So quick and good! Thank you for sharing
I’ve been making tuna cakes for years, even before I ever knew there was such a recipe.
Im going to make this tuna cake ,thank you Wendy for sharing your recipe.
Mom used to make us something similar to this when we were kids. She'd mix it all up, quick fry them and put them on a sesame seed bun. She'd add a slice of American Cheese and wrap them in foil. She's put them in the over for about a half hour or so @ 400 degrees to toast and melt the cheese. Man I miss those and btw, I'm going to steal this recipe and make this for race day this week in slider form. THANK YOU!!
I’m sure the burgers your mum made were super delish. I’m sure you are going to enjoy these tuna cakes(sliders) too😋😋. Enjoy race day😊
I like how the cakes keep their shape and don't disintegrate. Definitely trying this soon! TY.
Thanks! I’m sure you will definitely enjoy these tuna cakes 😋😋
OMG, trying this week!!! What a perfect idea for a packed lunch! They look delicious.
I do mine with Cilantro, onion, fresh tomatoes, eggs, cumin , garlic. With salmon if course. I have never made fried tuna patties. This ones look do delicious.
Guadalupe, you should make these tuna cakes I’m sure you will love them 😋
Will definitely try these, they look soooo yummy! Thank you for the recipe 😁👍
I’m not big on “fish cakes” but these tuna cakes r making my mouth water. Also, they’re fairly inexpensive to make, which is great cause I’m on a tight budget. Thanks for the recipe!!❤❤❤
This is definitely the best way I’ve eaten canned tuna! Thanks for the delicious recipe.
Oh my looks so delicious n well seasoned ❤
We called them Tuna Pattie’s. I still make them. Along with Salmon Pattie’s. This recipe looks Yummy!
Don't overlook the can water or oil from tuna. There are a lot of tasty uses for the liquid. You can save the oil and use it to saute vegetables or fry an egg. I use the liquid to make soup, or mix it up with mayonnaise and spices to make a dressing for tuna-pasta salad. It is good in miso soup, replacing the shaved bonito step to make stock.
👍
😂
You’re so old school
😆
...tasty uses...
@@MOOOOS You could use the liquid for lube or let the cats have it. But this is a tasty cooking channel we're watching. Tasty uses of extra food sources is key!
Watching from Guyana 🇬🇾.. will definitely try that for a change, thank you 😊...
@@GeckoHiker well this suddenly went in a different direction.
Love making these poor man cakes we called them in Florida. except we use old bay,Italian parsley or dill. And added the white bread and graham crackers crumbs.Red onion, red pepper, celery, egg with a tablespoon of mayo or so..No hot pepper or cilantro or tomatoes. The graham cracker adds a sweetness and old bay is yummy.Have used these ingredients for salmon and crab cakes as well.Must try this new recipe looks great.
The Tuna patties look wonderful and I can't wait to try them !!
This looks so amazing Wendy..watching you from Durban, South Africa..we have a very large Indian population and I am a South African born Indian too..so we make these tuna/fishcakes alot more spicier with extra chillies, mashed potatoes, coriander and mint. Love your idea with the tomatoes and red peppers/capsicum..Thanks for sharing.
Love all of the ingredients in this, I can’t wait to make these!

Wendy the tuna cakes were absolutely delicious, thanks.
Lovely presentation! Looks delicious!
I like the ingredients that you used in your Tuna cakes. Very good presentation with easy to follow directions. Thank you for posting.
Thank you for well presented video. You didn't beat around the bush you got right to the point. This recipe looks so good I am going to try it first thing tomorrow morning. I have made tuna cakes and salmon cakes many times before but you have taught me one trick and that was dipping them in an egg better and putting panko crumbs on it to fry I've used a panko crumbs before but never with an egg dip. They look very good again thank you for such a wonderful video and a fine tip
Very nice.i am going to try it.
They look delicious I will most definitely give this a try.
I love making tuna cakes since I am not a fan of salmon. I make my own tartar sauce......delicious!!!
Wonderful and similar to my recipe. For those who don't like cilantro, substitute with fresh dill.
Very very simple but I bet we'll be great thank you great video
Or parsley! :)
Oh I gotta try that!
I found chopped pickled Capers and tarragon , works very well . Brought out the taste of the fish.

You are going to enjoy these Tuna cakes Teresa 😋😋
Thanks for sharing another fabulous recipe. All the cutlets so well shaped n look really moist.
Thanks Richelle, the ice cream scoop helps to get somewhat uniform size tuna cakes and using a knife to shape them really helps. Yes, the fresh bread in the tuna cakes keeps them light and moist. Thanks again
You have taken a dish that could be rather plain and simple and you've taken it up a few notches. You've also got me thinking of some substitutes for the breadcrumbs inside and to coat before frying. I'll try and then perhaps I'll report back... One would be some substitutes for the bread crumbs to make it wheat-free, although just making these as is would be great. I'm not into the hot peppers, not a huge fan of cilantro although I know it's good for me. I'd likely substitute fresh parsley with a little fresh chives when available. Adding some other vegetables could provide some interesting flavors. You've really got me thinking!!! Thank you!!! You did an excellent job of teaching us how you make your wonderful tuna patties, and these look FANTASTIC with all of those textures and colors even before we take a bite!!! Well done!!!
Thanks Joanne 🥰 I’m so happy you enjoyed this tuna cake recipe. Yes, you could customize it and add what you like. I’m sure you are going to enjoy these tuna cakes 😋😋

Omg look so yummy recipe I feel hungry now my friend thank you for sharing
Thanks
I just made these.
Came out great
Thanks Joy. Enjoy !
Measure out your Pattie’s with a measuring cup. I find that my third cup makes the perfect size. Then you just smack the mixture out into your hand, and shape. You can also dip the patty into flour and panco breadcrumbs before you fry, for added flavor.
Thx Phyllis for the msrg cup idea. I'm a ketoite so use pork rinds instead of bread crumbs. I really miss my breadcrumb recipes but these work nicely.
Gave this a try and it was delicious!!!
So happy Dwayne that you tried these tuna cakes and enjoyed them 🥰

Try drained tuna mixed with cream cheese and seasoned with a bit of onion, salt and pepper, hot sauce. As a spread for crackers. Works well for rangoons too. Or tuna in a twice baked potato.

Thank you for sharing your recipe, it looks absolutely delicious. I’m definitely going to give this a try. I think I might try to add a bit of dill, I think that would give a really nice taste. Also the mixture looks very moist as it is, so I think I’m going skip the egg wash and go straight to the breadcrumbs.
Chelsea, dill would give these tuna cakes a nice fresh flavour and let me know how the cakes turn out by skipping the egg wash. Enjoy!
