    I actually prefer the “plain and boring” interior styling of VW cars. Weird swooping lines date very quickly.

      very true. Sharp edges and too many lines will get boring quickly. The VW design philosophy is always a pretty simple interior which ages well.

    Not too sure why everyone is going with touch-sensitive buttons. Especially on the steering wheel. Highly prone to accidental touches.
    Would be nice if they just keep physical buttons where it makes sense. Haven't met or heard of anyone that like touch-sensitive buttons.

    I have this on order and it should be delivered by August. Went for the Sunroof and Sound & Vision pack as well. I chose this because I have another bub on the way so I need a family car, but I don't want the feeling of downgraded performance I'd get by going for something like a RAV4 hybrid, as I'm switching over from a Turbo Diesel Alfa Romeo Giulietta, which I'll be selling. Also, I prefer European styling and refinement, and the VW Travel Assist is supposed to be quite decent at lane centering. I'd value that for long cross-border road trips I like to go on, despite them being riskier to take now because you don't know when and where the next snap-lockdown is going to hit and potentially trap you.

    • @angelisdania1594
      @angelisdania1594 3 роки тому

      Order delayed. Semi-conductor shortage affecting 162TSI Tiguans, DSGs, and Harman Kardon speaker systems, so I hit the trifector with my order. There's also delays on the interior leather supply. At this rate I'll be lucky if it arrives by December, but given how we lock down at the cough of a brat, I probably wouldn't be getting much use out of it in the colder months anyway.

      If I was buying one as a family vehicle I’d take the Passat Alltrack especially if you’re carrying a bulky pram in the boot, the Tiguan boot measurement is a bit deceiving as it measures with the rear seat slide all the way forward with no rear legroom and with the boot floor in its lowest setting, in reality the Tiguan boot is smaller than a golf wagon ( I’ve owned both )

      LExus and Volvo are more premium than VW and buying one with full equipment will cost more than a Tiguan. The Tiguan 162KW is a very good car and overall considered the jack of all trades. If you want a premium Tiguan you should consider the Audi Q3.

    @2:11 "Along came a spider." Anyway, fake exhaust vents makes this one a "no thanks" for me. As to the controls I HATE HAPTIC CONTROLS (thanks Tesla). That was something the Germans fixed, that wasn't broken. You also need two USB C in the rear. Nowadays, everybody has a cell phone, and don't want the rear seat passengers (kids?) fighting over who gets to use the power port. Would love the R if it comes the the U.S.

    Hey Paul, i have the non face-lift version of this was thinking of upgrading to this or the r, but those touch sensitive controls kill it for me.
    Also there's a handy little storage under the passenger too that you missed! Unless they got rid of it? They also got rid of the brilliant airplane trays from my gen which had inbuilt cup holders, so you technically had 6 cup holders! Some backwards innovations imho on the face-lift.

    Top notch review... tbh is car is way above in class and looks compared to rav 4 or cx5... I doubt they are in the same level... i doubt anyone buying this would think rav 4 or cx5 was in the same class. Rav 4 and cx5 look much chepear , driving dynamics car way different class compared to those and ontop technology is light years ahead. This car would be more comparable to entry level luxury brands such as Lexus and Volvo. I don't where that kind pricing comes from this car easily over $60 k drive away rather very deceiving advertisement of the price... even without drive away that sounds way too low.

    I really like the exterior of the new tiguan but not so much of the interior. The interior is way too blend and boring for a $60k+ car and i would actually prefer the previous gen interior than this current gen with touch sensitive buttons. Also not sure if its just me but i really dislike the feel of gas pedals on VW cars which just feels way too soft for my taste. I even test drove a golf R before and gas pedal also feels really soft like pressing on a marshmallow. I was in the market to buy a med size SUV and it really just came down to RAV4 and Cx-5 and Tiguan and in the end i choose the Cx-5 as I bought the akera model with the petrol turbo engine which practically saved me $10-12k aud if i were to choose this 162TSI R line Tiguan.
