In 2019, the Volkswagen Tiguan graduated to the role of the German brand’s best-selling model globally, a title it has held since. Yes, Wolfsburg’s compact crossover has outsold its Polo and Golf hatchback siblings for the past few years, despite being only in its 2nd generation.
Should you buy a used Tiguan? What was on offer in the local lineup? And, what to pay for each model on the used market.

Now this is lovely considering most people in our country are opting for 2nd hand and/or downgrading vehicles. I would like to see you guys do a lot more videos like this if it is possible preferably in the future also a comparison within the same brand. Like a BMW F20 118i and maybe a F30 318i since they share an engine but sometimes tend to have different motor issues. Also, it would be nice if maybe you could have a different playlist for 2nd hand market vehicles (an all you need to know information) since you are South Africa's number 1 website for used vehicles, wink-wink😉.

My 2015 Polo TSI had all those issues combined within 3 years of purchasing it new, immediately after the warranty expired... Water pump leakage, flywheel failure, gearbox failure. I traded it in immediately after changing the gearbox.

I always tell as many people as I can that if they want to buy a VW, they should avoid the DSG gearbox at all costs. Either pick or manual or go for another brand.
Luckily they will soon be making only electric cars, which means those new cars won't need a transmission anymore. Europe has given all car companies up until 2030 to phase out diesels and petrols. From 2030, diesel and petrol will be illegal.

@@angrysocialjusticewarrior Thanks for the Tip busy shopping so appreciate. My concern with electric cars is that (a) ZA and our electricity issues (b) will the price of fueling up with electricity be les than that of petrol/diesel (c) Those Lithium Fe batteries are scary -watched enough EV videos on China made EC to say Nope.

Ciro, u did not mention the most important fact,I.E. the running costs (service & repairs)for any German car, they are high& because most European cars are designed, build on planned obsolescence parts failure will be high & expensive, so to Tiguan too. Beautiful indeed

I had a 2014 BMW X1. It was dirt cheap to run, minor service R1400, major R3500. Extremely light on diesel. Brakes were cheap to replace, front shocks were R2000. Drove it up to 160000km with no issues at all. If you look after them, they look after you. I honestly don't believe in the planned obsolescence thing. Parts have a lifetime, nothing can last forever.

I have a 2019 Allspace Comfort line R 132kw. A superb all-round vehicle. Beware of high fuel consumption 12l/100km in the city. Also it eats brake pads for breakfast and they are expensive to replace. I also had two waterpumps replaced for leaking. Otherwise it has been very reliable and I can't think of a better vehicle for a family at the price. The R suspension is perfectly comfortable over most roads, so go for the much better looks in my opinion.
