- Join the Victory crew as we spend the last couple of days getting ready for the concrete season. I dealt with hopefully the last snowstorm of the season and the city board. We are officially ready for concrete and Monday it's on! Enjoy

I don't know and I could be way off the mark but I think at the time he had big big big personal stuff going on and from reading between the lines it's a wonder he's still there at all so I think that's where the patience with him came from on Ryan's part

Ryans guys really do have it good. If im late i get a half a point and call outs are a full point. We're only allowed 7 points for the year.
That's how my employer used to do it also. Washington state changed sick leave laws and can't use a point system anymore. We've had to hire an extra 50-75 guys just to cover for the people calling off all the time now. It's ridiculous really.

Seriously. Thank you, Ryan for taking care of your guys and incentivize them to be and do better. I work on a crew of 4 and I'm constantly picking up slack. I asked for a raise because I've been carrying the place but my boss is an absentee and doesn't see the value in compensating me properly or disciplining the ones who do the minimum. He just sees that the work is done. I'm quitting next week. You've shown me that there are people out there with good hearts that care for the people who care for their business.

You know what would be cool? A big concrete chess board incorporated into a patio. Buy some oversized chess pieces for it. You could do the checkerboard pattern with criss cross brushing, but only 1 or 2 feet wide. Maybe 2 different colors. Do a nice wood plank border around it. That would be awesome.

As a business owner I’ve spent hours trying to figure out how to motivate people . I hope the bonus works for you . I found out either people have a good work ethic or they don’t. I give you credit for trying different things .
You can see three of them were interested and stopped eating made eye contact and took it serious. You can tell alot about people when they focus on the food and just keep noding in one ear out the other 😂
Money is not a motivator. It’s very temporary. I made sure I had available people I could hire if I needed to fire people. It’s a situation like being a parent. You need to be a parent and not just a buddy or friend to your children, otherwise you have behavior issues. Maintain employee/employer relationships and don’t get too chummy. I had many long term employees at my company. Even though my company is closed and I am retired, they still come by and visit. We still get together for a cookout three times a year. I fired a few over the years and never regretted it. Found better people as replacements that wanted to work and took pride in their jobs. Everyone has to do what they think is best but I never gave bonuses for anything except going above and beyond their assigned job. Getting to work on time is a matter of the persons work ethic and pride.
We have to understand these guys aren’t just concrete workers. They are characters in a UA-cam channel. Ryan spends heaps of money on these guys. How often does he pay for lunch. At the end of the day he will only spend what they deserve. If things were down to work ethics do you think anyone would employ Daryl jnr.
The biggest motivator in any employment is job satisfaction. These guys have just been given a $500 monthly pay rise and will be really upset if they don’t get to work on time.
New brooms always sweep clean, after awhile they start missing things. Lol that's what we always used to say when we hired on new people for landscaping. Some work some dont

Do what I did Ryan, I made my jointer longer then wider ! I took a magnesium ledger from an old porch and cut it 12" long× 8" wide it guides straight as heck! Group the endges and fine hand filed it .
The pole brackets that are on it has track settings for spacing poles for the canvas roof awning that was once on it so I used one of those and they swivel and fit my poles its awsome! Specially out around 20+feet the higher bracket keeps the sagging poles from touching and it stays stable with out digging in left or right! Stands surprisingly up straight! Trick is in the starting in some cases I used a laser ! Just got to keep the spot on the base bracketing centered .
