Custom patio done but there is CONTROVERSY on the crew!

- Join the concrete construction crew as we pour and finish a very nice custom patio job. Things get interesting this week as we lose one employee and gain another. I also get an opportunity to discuss a very controversial topic in this video. This is a good one and a long one. Grab some popcorn and enjoy.
This being Eric's first day on the job and how far he has come since this video, comes to show that if you treat your employees right, they'll stay loyal to their boss, keep showing up and do their best every day. The others who missed work constantly and ended up quitting or getting fired, it's their loss.
Crazy to see this now with him being a solid part of the crew
Fr I wish he was my boss!
I just started watching these guys and decided I need to go back to the beginning of the journey. Crazy to see how everyone is so different, watching it backwards in time makes it even crazier in my opinion
@@JonathanSanchez-pw4mhno it’s because it’s hard to look for other jobs. Job security is hard to turn down so if you working everyday and have a family you don’t want to leave your job and risk who knows how long untill you find another one and that’s if they even pay you what you were making before. Usually jobs like this people stick around because they think they can’t find better
@@jarjarbooty600I completely agree! Well said!!!

All you need to know is to keep your float as close to the concrete as you can, applying firm pressure especially by leaning into it, and if it is on the soft side, tilt your float up higher with less pressure, remember if you have a low spot anywhere to scrape some cement off the top near the back form where water is intended to come off, and use that to spread over

You know, I stumbled on this channel a month ago or so and I wish you were my boss when I got a job doing concrete. I got a job with this guy and worked there for 1 day because in the matter if 6 hours, I got told I was a “f****king idiot”, “faster faster faster” pretty much degraded all day long. Now I understand hazing the new guy a little bit but also there’s a level of respect that you have, that a lot of people don’t have. I’m a hard working and honestly, show me something once, maybe twice and I got it. This guy was very unreasonable. You’re an awesome leader and I use leader because you’re a LEADER, not a boss. Congrats sir. Keep up the good work.
This was precisely my first experience working concrete. I've done plenty of trades over the years including, concrete, landscaping, drywall, electrical, paint, facilities operations, medical and more.... I worked concrete during my teen years and the man I worked for made me never want to do it again. He was an extremely intelligent individual who always had 3 or 4 projects on the go. He was a great guy when things were going smooth but the second a minor inconvenience popped up, he was yelling, demeaning you, forcing you to work work work, go go go.... At the end of the day, he was overextending himself and taking it out on his guys. Also, I was a teenager and learning the trade for the first time but he talked down to me like I had been in the trade for 10+ years and I should know how to do everything perfectly and with top precision. My time there did not last long & now... I refuse to work for anyone that doesn't know how to respect their workers and act like a true leader.
concrete work is very rough and demanding work, if you oversell yourself and jump in head first with crude skills, you'll get fireballs blasted at you endlessly!
what you see and think is a minor issue, but is really being too slow for what you're hired for (lifting wire, trowel, screed, floating, cutting lines, edging). that's all major work that needs done at various speeds, a small pour job you can fluff about on, next job could be an massive driveway, taking 2 to 4+ hour bursts of fast solid labor.
many trades are the same way, easy/hard days(weeks/months). some times you have to stop overthinking it and just get the job done! we all have bad days and cannot muster it up, other times we can do "greased lighting" speed work. proper tooling or lots of laborers if there's a lack of tooling.
just last winter(very bad winter with many delays) I did 3 months of work in roughly 1 months time-frame. including ever changing plans/designs, materials, rolling inspection dates and far more work than quoted (due to finding multiple safety/deadly issues).
Mad respect! You run a tight ship and treat your crew with respect hence they respect you back. You guys do hard work.
