    Can you please create an updated 2024 morning & evening skincare routine video of all the products you’re consistently using for both warm & cool whether? Maybe even create a doc with your whole regimen & include it in your video description for reference for those of us wanting to enhance our routine or just starting off?? Your skin simply looks stunning these days. Also include in that video any devices you use consistently or treatments you’re getting done in rotation. Thank you!! 🙏🏼

    For people prone to burning and stinging with Cerave, I love the Cetaphil Dermacontrol oil-control moisturizer. (Bonus: it contains SPF 30!) I use it every morning and for me, it controls oil and wears well under makeup.

    People prone to stinging w CeraVe products but who want to try an oily skin moisturizer like this: try the La Roche Posay Double Repair Matte Moisturizer (blue tube).
    It is mattifying without ever being drying & even tho I have rosacea, has never stung me. And it doesn’t pill for me at all, even using it w my Azealic acid (product known for crazy pilling w every other moisturizer).

    The finish of any moisturizer, whether matte or not, will be different depending on your skin type. As an esthetician I put a lot of different moisturizers on a lot of different people, when someone is very dry it soaks it right up very quickly so requires more, when your oily even a mattifying product can still look shiny because your skin has so much moisture in it already it's "at capacity" so to speak so everything just sits on top. I'm oily myself and can attest to this, nothing absorbs into my skin, so how shiny a product is on ones skin depends on the skin type. Also, in my experience any product with silica as an ingredient has a tendency to pill unless it's far enough down on the ingredient list.

    • @_w_w_
      @_w_w_ 2 місяці тому +2

      True. I am oily, "shiny" and Asian. A few years ago, I used reflectometry devices to measure gently cleansed and dried skin, and my skin is more way reflective than my SO's. Skin texture, hair and smoothness all matters. If the skin is very smooth and shiny to start with, most products will not make a significant difference unless it contains optical diffusion ingredients.

    • @EstiSara
      @EstiSara 2 місяці тому +2

      @_w_w_ exactly right. I feel like nobody but us understands this 🤣

    • @miniweirdo4478
      @miniweirdo4478 2 місяці тому

      Thank you for your comment ! I observed this on my own skin (the "full capacity" thing, with just a very hydrating toner/essence), but thought I was wrong because all the derms on line and IRL say that oily skin needs as much moisture as other skin types.
      What would you recommend to diminish oil production ?
      I tried almost everything : BHA- does not work, Niacinamide - irritates my skin, Azelaic acid - does not work, "mattifying" sunscreen - there is no such thing, powders - they do work, but only for two hours top in my case...
      I am kind of desperate to tame my oil production, I would be very grateful if you have some piece of advice.

    • @EstiSara
      @EstiSara 2 місяці тому +2

      @miniweirdo4478 your skin sounds like mine. I too have been in an endless search for something that helps but to no avail. It's causes by genetics and hormones so trying to control it topically doesn't make sense anyways. I'm 42 and my skin is still very very oily. I've tried everything short of Accutane, which I'm thinking about trying bit I also know is very expensive and the drying out can be only a phase with that and come right back so I'm not sure I want to. I am currently on tretinoin which I feel Improves my skin slightly, and may have reduced the oil a bit but nothing noticeable to me. I've also tried microtox which is a procedure where they perform microneedling but with a small amount of botox which is supposed to stunt oil production temporary, it's supposed to work very well but of course not MY oil glands, nay nay, they keep on keeping on! I've also tried BBL laser on the acne setting per the recommendation of an NP at the derm office I visited, she said that should help, I did 3 treatments with no change to my skin ugh! She said I could try Accutane next I'm just not sure I want to.. so I've shared a bit of my struggle and I haven't found a solution yet, let me know if YOU do.

      @@EstiSara Thank you so much for your answer. you are very kind.
      I am 38, and I have PCOS. I know it is hormonal in my case, but I can't seem to be able to tackle my oily skin. All the other symptoms are almost under control (thanks to a progesterone only pill) but not this one.
      Adapalene does nothing for me. I have tried Tretinoin for a few months, but I saw no improvement in this department. Maybe I should have given it more time.
      For a while I was considering micro/baby botox, but your comment makes me doubt of its efficacy for our problem !
      I was debating getting Acutane, too, and microneedling to make my VERY enlarged pores disappear, but I am not 100% sold on these ideas yet...
      To be continued, I guess ;)

    I'm going to give this gel-cream a try. I have oily acne-prone skin. Right now I use the la roche posay's double repair matte moisturizer, and its good and all, but i know there must be something better. Hopefully this one is. All the other cera ve moisturizers I've tried defintely leave my face looking shiny, which is something I don't like as my skin is naturally shiny because of the oiliness.

    I also never had any burns with Cerave moisturizers (particularly moisturizing cream and lotion) until my barrier was one day compromised due to overexfoliation, and putting Cerave on it was absolute hell. There is definitely something contributing to this intense stinging and I had to resort to other products to rebuild my barrier until my skin was strong enough to deal with Cerave again. I also find the texture of their products not to be very elegant compared to some of the Korean skincare I tried. E.g. Torriden has a product called solid-in essence or so which has 5 different ceramides + cholesterol and fatty acids compared to Cerave which has only 3 and their texture is more gel like and seeps into the skin very easily and comfortably perhaps due to the 1% panthenol. I would rather use that although it’s more pricey per ounce

    My super oily skin bothers me because it gets in my eyes by the afternoon and stings them. Rubbing it makes it worse. I also feel a lot more tired. Washing in the afternoon or after work seems to be the only solution. I've started blotting with a tissue midday if I don't have a chance to wash. When I put moisturizer on in the morning, it accelerates when the oiliness happens. It's like there is just too much on the surface of my skin, causing it to slide down. I compromise by only putting moisturizer from my cheeks and lower; I have to avoid my forehead.
    I don't like how it looks either, but I think I would tolerate that more if it weren't for all the other problems it causes.
    JASON used to make an aloe gel with witch hazel that I could tolerate as a moisturizer all over, but they got rid of the witch hazel years ago, and it's not the same. It also has more perfume than I'd like.

    Thanks for an honest review. The part that confuses me is that if it's for oily skin why is it making your face appear more oily? I love their body creams but i tried their face SPF once and loved it. Then I stopped and started using it a few months later and I had an allergic reaction. My face got very red and itchy. I stopped using it. Im not sure why that happened. Its still good (expires in 2025). I suspect maybe something else that I am using in my skincare rout is reacting with it.

    I use Cerave and quite like it. With regards to shinyness, I can get quite oily and shiny on my forehead generally and I find something strange and that is the Cerave facial moisturizer goes on fine and doesn't look shiny after it absorbs, but after a few hours it makes my forehead go REALLY shiny and greasy looking. I was using the normal body moisturizer on my hands and it wasn't giving them enough to deal with the dryness, so I swapped them around and now am using the body one on my face and the face one on my hands, it's worked out heaps better for some unknown reason. The body lotion doesn't seem to make my forehead get that shiny greasy look after hours and hours like the face one does with my forehead looking normal, and the backs of my hands seem to be doing much better using the face version. No idea why, it's usually the other way around with face and body products. For the record I've never suffered any type of discomfort or pain with any Cerave product.

      Dr Dray has videos on those. Her recent video on lightweight moisturizers for summer, have no niacinamide. She also has an older video, why niacinamide burns & causes redness, with more moisturizers. And at least one on moisturizers without HA, can you have allergic reaction to hyaluronic acid serum?

    Which ingredient do you think might have caused the burning? I have this problem with many products but haven’t figured out what the ingredient is. It happens even with fragrance free products such as aveeno daily face lotion.

    • @Stacyann_1
      @Stacyann_1 2 місяці тому

      Sorry aveeno moisturizing daily face cream caused burning. Cetaphil or cerave moisturizing lotion is fine.

    • @Loonysaur
      @Loonysaur 2 місяці тому

      For me, the issue was Phenoxyethanol - a very common preservative. It doesn't always cause stinging when used in lower concentrations (like in Cetaphil), but nearly all Cerave products have this ingredient as their sole preservative, so it tends to be a bit higher up on the ingredient list. Seeing that you are not sensitive to Cerave's lotion (one of the few Cerave products that does not use Phenoxyethanol), I think there's a solid chance that Phenoxyethanol is the culprit.

    I think the industry gets a lot wrong about oily skin, including some derms. I have been oily all my life and as an engineer, I track product performance with a lot of data and experiments. There are definitely things that can reduce oil production, i.e., reduce temperature and humidity are two easy factors that do that. BHA and similar ingredients that "unclog" pores will allow oil to reach the surface more easily and actually produce a more oily skin and more shiny effect. In anything, you want to reduce bacteria in your pores and you probably want some controlled pore clogging/blocking effect, to reduce surface shine. Using of "microsponges" to absorb oil can trigger more oil to be produced. After years of trial and error, what works the best for me and my circle of family and friends is actually using oil to fight oil - a particularly an oil that exhibits a very strong antioxidant effect. Product with a lot of "microsponges" can generate a matte effect on application but will end up causing more oil production.

    Cerave's initial hype is fading and that is their own fault...many people say their face burns and stings when they use Cerave moisturizers. Instead of focusing on trying to make more money by coming out with "new" products they should listen to their consumers and fix the stinging issue.
