- Diamond 101: In this Diamond Buying Guide, we will teach you how to choose diamond by showing you the effects of Triple Excellent GIA diamond vs Super ideal cut diamond vs Fisheye diamond.
In this video, we're going to talk about a particular nasty effect that you will never want on a diamond ring which is the Diamond Fisheye effect.
What is Diamond Fish Eye effect?
The diamond fish eye effect is a nasty appearance on your diamond that you want to avoid at all cost. This occurs when the diamond is cut too wide and out of the Ideal proportion range.
We will show you what the diamond fish eye effect is in real life, under various lighting environment and how you should avoid it.
As a rule of thumb, we recommend a maximum table size of 58% when choosing your diamond. Anything over 58% will be on the wider side and your diamond will have a
higher risk of getting the diamond fisheye effect.
What’s included in the video
We will be comparing these 3 diamonds - a GIA certified triple excellent diamond vs super ideal cut diamond vs fisheye diamond, side by side under diffuse fluorescent lights, under LED lights, under natural sunlight, under cloudy light environment.
You will get to see for yourself which of these 3 diamonds fare the best in light performance, in brilliance, brightness, contrast, fire and scintillation
We hope after this diamond 101 video, you will be better equipped in knowing how to choose diamond, and knowing the difference between (GIA diamond) triple excellent diamond and super ideal cut diamond.

This comparison helped me sooo much, thank you!
Excellent clip!
awesome video!
It would seem that a big expense must be spent to obtain such a perfect diamond. To be honest yes, my preferences would be B, A, C but if I were to buy a diamond I wouldn't know any differences because of the lighting within the store!!!! Even with this knowledge!!!!
Informative video! Out of interest, what were the critical dimensions (i.e. percentages and angles of table, pavilion, crown, etc.) of each diamond?
Love the video. Very well done. You know your stuff. Can you tell me if there is anything else to look out for besides the 58% table. Thanks
Wow, real firy!
Sir tell all aspects to avoid fish eyes like table not more than 58% . What should be crown height crown angel. Lower gurdel Pavallion %height of durel to table of crown etc
Sir please tell me the difference between aset scope and ideal scope
Great video Ty 👍🏻
Good
On GIA certificate how will we know super ideal cut?
Looks to me like the differences compared to the GIA were greatly exaggerated in this video. Can that be done by the angle of the camera or lights?
Is a Culet Abraded diamond a defect
Tell about rough diamond
I actually love that about old cut diamonds lol oops
On the triple comparison in the ring settings why do you have the middle (super ideal) in a different setting as the other two ? Makes one think you are being shady....(excuse the pun)!
Eh I think the differences are clear enough 💁♀️ you want the best diamond to be the centre of attention! 😁
The three settings are all different if you look carefully, but same style.
I dont mind the "fish eye" stone tho....i find it beautiful 😍
This is not a very bad one
if you have to throw in the junk the fish eye diamond, call me, I don't mind if it's ugly.
It's not ugly at all....its still gorgeous
@@sooosuss7154 ~ I agree! I can't tell too much of a difference.
