Best diamond video on the internet. Clear presentation that nails all the issues why you pay for a high quality diamond that does not perform as it should. Excellent video. Thank you.
Wow thank you! I love that you actually showed the difference visually, I have been searching for this so long and only your video made it clear to me.
This is the only video that explained/showcased florescence in sunlight - the argument is it doesn't matter unless you go to the club with UV ray lighting, but of course the sun has UV rays too! lol
Maybe I'm weird, but I don't like the black splinters you can see in the more reflective diamonds. This is why I ended up going with an old European cut diamond for my engagement ring!
So it is light leakages caused by poor cuts that causes a diamond to look dark? The other factors are inclusions including cloud inclusions. Thank you for such great insights. Best video ever on diamonds I have been able to find in months! 🙏
Absolutely! Also, I found out a long time ago about florescence in a diamond. GIA does grade on this. Mine has no florescence in it. It's REALLY sparkly. I got D color but got good cut. Yes, cut is VERY important as light can leak out of the bottom of the diamond. It's ALL about light that goes in, bounces on all the facets and comes out to the eye! I can't believe people buy stones on line. I would not do that.
How I wish I would have seen this video before getting my diamond. I have a IF, F color and no fluorescence diamond and I just couldn't understand why it looks so "lifeless" compared to my sister's diamond with similar specs. Now I know it's bc of the cutting 😭
And the skin that's seen thru the facet makes it darker as opposed to reflecting the light back. Just like mirrors reflect light brighter than a dark window.
EXACTLY! Diamonds have little to no resale value (a fact you learn when you try to sell it), have less sparkle than Moissonite anyway, and have tons of issues connected with variations in cuts, colour, and cloud inclusions! A dreadful deal for the common man (unless you are a celebrity in which case they bring you fame and envy, not everyone’s cup of tea). Missonite is far better and a far better choice because they are flawless in every way (if you are careful to choose Forever One grade) and also eco-friendly (no mining and destruction of the environment!).
@@Indusxstan Lol diamonds are diamonds. Moissanites are Moissanites. Moissanites are diamond alternative. Not all diamonds are made that way. People try to justify that moiss have better fire and clearer but really, it's because it's a lot cheaper. Ethically speaking, it's out of the question because there are diamonds like 'lab' diamonds that are ethically grown.
I’ve never seen a super ideal cut at a retail jeweler store. I haven’t even seen one on Jane’s Allen or blue Nile. I think a super ideal cut is quite rare.
Emerald cuts are often cheaper and can look bigger per carat :) but because of how they're cut you will want to make sure there are no noticeable inclusions, however. Did she try some on though? I thought I wanted emerald cut but I felt meh when I put it on. I went with princess in the end (square). Good luck!
@@Aeronauticalwizard thanks for the tip! No she hasn't tried any on. She's just seen photos and thinks they look smart. I think I'll propose with a decoy ring as I'm not sure she'll truly like the emerald cut. Every one I've seen looks a bit meh and lots of inclusions or milky diamonds out there.
@@iamdmc definitely a good idea! I agree, I think they look amazing! But only if they're very large and clear and, to be honest, on very long fingers! You sound sensible, I'm sure she'll say yes 😊🤞
why is the GIA report number wiped out in both diamonds? I want to see the table dimensions and other metrics for each. All you need is the measurements of the report and reference against ideal measurements. was it purposely chosen a very deep cut stone for comparison? I'm sure triple excellent ideal cut would have great light performance either way. Unless you put something side by and look closely for comparison it'll still be a gilttery rock. if you want to max bling, moissanite would do that but not everyone likes the showy shine.
My son found a pendant then when I scan online on stone scanner it said diamonds formula C hardness 10 it’s like yellowish color but I still doubt if it’s real or not 😅😅😅😅
Hi my diamond has a table 62.5% , 35.5 crown with 41.3 pavillion , 60.8% depth is this considered steep deep. and Is a Culet Abraded diamond considered a defect
I’ve been a diamond setter for 38 years in London and without ever watching this video yet , I would say the stone would be fluorescent, I see it a lot in stones , big ones there just lifeless !!!
man, buy a better headset mic. we can hear you breathing into the mic. it's uncomfortable to listen to the video, especially at the end. great video, though. thanks
I am shocked at what this man is claiming! What a misleading video for placing nothing but FEAR into consumers who doesn't understand diamonds or fine jewelry so you can sell your " no milky, super ideal cuts". NOT all diamonds with fluorescence appear milky, and showing a milky faint does not represent all stones! I am seriously blown away at this super misleading video you made.

arrows are incredible on that super ideal under LED light...
It's amazing, I guess I've never seen a correctly cut diamond until now🤷
Confused, didn't like the diamond in the first light but then loved it in every other test?
I have a pretty long history of diamond education and this video was great. I learned a few things!
Me too!!
I have a fair cut K color vs2 old European cut diamond and it looks just as good as those...

Me either

And where to get that Super Ideal cut?
Damn I'm about to buy a Flawless F Color Diamond Ring No Fluorscense
What would you have did differently?
Very knowledgeable video. I am looking at an agi diamond triple excellent. How can I check the light distribution?
It appears darker because of presence or absence of florescence? 9:00 ' no florescence ' looks darker
Thank you so much ! I has no idea about light performance and inclusions.
Best explanation I've found on the internet. Easy and thorough! Thank you ❤
excellent content, setting is also important
So is it safe to say the blacker the diamond, the better the light performance?
Thank you. This video was very helpful.
Thank you for this review. Would this apply to an oval diamond shape too?
very good presentation. thanks a lot! useful!!
Can you explain same thing with a 1ct emerald cut!? Thank you
can diamonds with strong blue fluoresce be non cloudy?
Does light passing through the stone vs. light reflecting off the cuts give better visual effect? Or does the reflection give better visual effect?
Reflection. Any light passed thru the diamond isn’t reflected back to your eye.
And the skin that's seen thru the facet makes it darker as opposed to reflecting the light back. Just like mirrors reflect light brighter than a dark window.
Very informative ! Thank you !
I personally prefer the diamond on the left!!
Fantastic video. Thank you.

so the ones with arrows are the best?
Killer man. Where is your business located??
Can you get a bit more fire with a really open setting?
Diamond is not standard like gold in price n other aspects.. better buy moissanite if u want sparkle n bling

What about phosphorescence? Does that have a similar effect to fluorescence?
So helpful thankyou!

where can I get that titanium looking temporary setting you display at 4:51 (I think you called it a "ring clip")?

Good question!
Thank you this is very useful to me

Are lab grown diamonds worth buying?
I like the one on the left much better

Thank you
What a great knowledge god bless you ❤️
Where can I get jannpaul diamonds?

You may have saved my ass here!!!
Hi, I just checked my GIA report and it's missing the Cut report. Any reasons why?
I have the same.. I called GIA and they said they don't grade FANCY shapes diamonds..
@@cnidia35 good to know thanks

How much price is of 1 cart? If I order it whether u can send it?
Could you please do this with an emerald or asscher cut?
thank you sooo much for the info
Small inclusions are ok for me, its almost like a fingerprint.
Mabe there are inclusions to find that look special. 😅
Any stone with a poor cut diminishes it .

It depends upon the size of the stone.
Poor quality will make it darker. Hence the colour is in the lower grade
