That is really cool, man! I am typing this from my 28’ Newport. Seriously daydreaming of an Atlantic crossing. You and @sailing.oneworld are inspirational.
When I was in my 20s I dreamed about big ocean crossing in a 24foot Spaekhugger. Now I am in my 50s and just bought a Spaekhugger. Maybe dreams come true. This video is very inspiring 😁
sailing across a ocean on a small sailboat is my dream that looks like a awesome daring adventure. Congratulations on finding the best experience on earth.
I've just found your videos and watched all 3 parts. What an adventure, impossible to do without the windvane! I like the simplicity of your setup. I look forward to part 4!
This is great! I’ve just discovered your videos and will have to binge watch to catch up with everyone else. So far, I’m amazed at your bravery to do this, but you obviously have the knowledge to do it too…..
Well done so far Nicolas! Looks like a stiff task but you mate it look relatively easy (sure that’s not the case all the time). Great vlog keep them coming and thank you for sharing, all the best and fair winds amigo Simon, Yorkshire England 🏴
Great adventure, cant wait for more to come.. will you be doing a small tour of your sailboat so we can see it from all angles and what things you teavel with for comfort? Would be a great clickbait title, i crossed the ocean in this tiny 18ft sailboat.. haha.
Bravo Nicolas!!! I can't get tired of waching your videos. What a great adventure. Would you do a video about How you'v got there? How and when did yoi get the idea. How and where you got your boat. What preparation works did you do on it. Aprox costs. These could be a big help for people like me, who are dreaming to do something similar one day.
Hey Mariano thanks for the feedback !! I´ll be back at the boat next week after a summer of work. I allready have some videos planed that will hopefully answer your questions :)

Amazing Footage! Don't you wear any security equipment, life-jacket etc? Are you connected to the boat at any times? Waiting for part3! keep up the great work!
Life jacket…lol What would the purpose be? To prolong your inevitable death a couple hours after seeing you boat sail away? You don’t wear life jacket where there is < .01% chance of being rescued!
Is the boat fitted with autopilot? Also where do you get water? Boat looks so small that it would just get smashed in a storm. Is this brave or stupid?
I started in greece but didnt film anything in the mediterranien ... I will Post some Videos about the preparation in the Caribean before my Return Trip soon 👌
I actually have been considering a life change of living on a yacht,,,life is different the last few years,,,live more work less I think,, ,but not sure if I can do it,,,yet u sail across the Atlantic in an 18 footer,,,,legend !
Have to admit it's impressive going across the Atlantic in what is basically a trailer sailer, not totally sane grant you and certainly not safe but impressive none the less.

I know what your trying to say but a big boat > 40’ has HUGE forces on it and as a solo sailor would be all but uncontrollable without a crew so more dangerous.
I admire you for doing it but for the price of that outboard (let alone the boat) you could have flown there and back but then nowhere to stay I guess. 😊

There is ZERO chance that this journey would be Enjoyable by yourself on that small of a craft. This person is insane or has nothing to loose. I hope he makes it out alive.
There's a Swede who sails in a 12ft tube all over the world. Polynesians were doing it in dug out wooden catamarans when Europeans were still afraid to leave their caves. He'll be fine and if he isn't, he's still living better than most.
When I made a passage/crossing on a 27 foot (8.2m) boat, everyone called me insane. Yet this guy does it with almost half of that, awesome :D
I am going to cross it on a Sunfish.
Hurley 18 might be one of the best choices from mall boats thanks to its good ballast/weight ratio.

Congratulations my brother in sailing
This man has guts of steel! Not getting seasickness with days of rolling is impressive!
I think its very tough to get seadsick when solo sailing, your mind just doesn't allow you to go there
Man, u are the real deal.... Bless you and keep safe
Well done! Looking forward to the next one. I'd love to see a video with details about your boat too.

Not impossible. He could have gone electric.
No he couldn't, he has no generator and none of the solar panels needed to power an autopilot and in those conditions it would consume A LOT of power.
North Atlantic is a lot different
Eres una cura contra las neurastenias y los miedos.¡ Bravo!

Fantastic and epic journey. You certainly deserved that mid journey bottle of wine. Looking forward to the next episode. Fair winds and stay safe.
Very nice video, thank you. I love the simplicity of your setup. Can you share, what exactly model is your boat?

Hey, @samholmessailing, a solo cruiser like yourself, also does paragliding. You 2 have a lot in common. Small boats and wind vanes and fried eggs.

Windpilot pacific light

sea water for bathing?
Yes
what else? drinking water?
Do you use cockpit boards?
No
Using a map and gps is just cheating though, and your boat would floated to Antigua from lanzarote by itself?
I am joking.
Dude, do you have a glass eye?
No but Im blind on my left eye 😅

autopilot
I’m interested to know how much water you brought, and where you stored food.

It was way to windy for my boat and a spi 😅
Wait wait 5m is 18 feet?? 5 meter is 16 feet 4 inches????
Prob 5m at the waterline.
Well designed small boats are as seaworthy as a cork in a hurricane. They have small loads and are very manageable.
Have to admit it's impressive going across the Atlantic in what is basically a trailer sailer, not totally sane grant you and certainly not safe but impressive none the less.
This would be an serious undertaking in a yacht. That's a dinghy with a cabin.
In actuality and I’m not taking anything away from this brave guy as far as sailing goes this as easy as it gets. If you threw a bottle in the ocean from where he started it would wash up in the Caribbean in a couple months.

Many people take 30 and 40 foot yachts all over the world and cross the Atlantic.
I know what your trying to say but a big boat > 40’ has HUGE forces on it and as a solo sailor would be all but uncontrollable without a crew so more dangerous.
I'm surprised you had to do the trip on your own, you'd think people would be lining up to cross the Atlantic in a dinghy
Surprisingly few people want to do potentially deadly adventures. Are they nuts? Or is it us?
😂😂😂😂
If u dont have any way to pull the cork Out Just Push it inside
Awesome, just shows you dont need a 40 foot boat and crew of 10 to do this, go small go now.
I admire you for doing it but for the price of that outboard (let alone the boat) you could have flown there and back but then nowhere to stay I guess. 😊
