    Looks great just keep in mind the bottom of the poll that has the moss and is buried will stay super wet for those roots. If I may offer an idea next time fill the bottom however many inches it will be in size pot with your same avoid mix that's in pot starting your moss above soil/mix surface. Keeps chances of root rot from future breakdown of moss that is buried at bay ! I love your passion for flora! Keep your the great work!

    This was very informative! I was wondering if the moss degrades over time? Do you have to replace the moss regularly? I have seen sphagnum moss with orchids building up algae from all the moisture so I wanted to know your thoughts/experiences before I build a pole myself. Thank you!

    I’ve been holding off on learning how to make one so that I could watch this video, I remember you making that big one on Instagram a while ago. It looks so good! I’m gonna make one soon for my raphie. I recently bought a really big monstera deliciosa though that leans really heavily to one side. Do you think this would be heavy duty enough to help prop that up straighter? Or should I add a metal garden pole in the center maybe.
    Amazing video, girl💜💜

    • @GoodandPlanty
      @GoodandPlanty  3 роки тому +2

      thank you angel 🥺 since monsteras are so heavy i would definitely recommend putting extra support in there. even for the 5ft pole, I ended up putting a bamboo pole in there just in case. I think a metal garden pole is perfect!! you could even have it poke out the bottom a little bit if you don't want to put any spagh in the pot (hopefully that makes sense).

    ughhhh THANK YOU for de mystifying my moss pole. I made this bugger but I knew it needed watering, and it was also keeping my plant soil too wet for my liking so i was totes confused about whentf i should water or if i should just keep misting at the nodes (i've been misting at the nodes, it's EXHAUSTING lol anyway, yes, please update on mosspole proven growth in the future! thanks! luv ya

      @@GoodandPlanty I have the same problem, the soil is very wet because of the totem I don't know what to do, I'm afraid to pour it, but I'm also afraid to over-dry the moss, I spray and water it every day!!!! It is dry already in the morning it is too hot in my country (but the soil does not dry out at all, some are watered through the totem, but it's scary that the roots will rot. The plant was watered 1.5 weeks ago, the soil is still wet. help me!!

  • @leoallen7434
    @leoallen7434 3 роки тому +2

    Super helpful!
    what do you do once the plant has reached the end of the pole? I have a silver sword on a pole and the roots are super tangled in the pole but it needs extending.
    Do you extend it? put it on a bigger one? or try to get the plant to grow back down it ?

    • @GoodandPlanty
      @GoodandPlanty  3 роки тому +2

      you can do all of those, but personally i prefer to propagate! i either trade the cuttings or put them in the base of the pot to make a fuller plant/pole.

    If you have a giant paper cutter, the type with a big blade, I’d bet that would work on the plastic meshes. Maybe even the ones with the metal if the blade is thick enough. Just coming off the top of my head.

    How do you keep your 5 foot pole standing straight all on its own? I have a moss pole that's about three foot tall, same @Craigmilran style, with a metal stake in the back and a bamboo pole in front- which are attached to the garden mesh. What am I doing wrong? I have the same garden mesh as you...
    Oh btw you have such a pretty smile and great attitude!! 💚 First time watching you, going to subscribe! We're close to one another as well- Philly and New Jersey!

    Hi! Love your videos so much! Recently found you and spent a day literally watching ALL of your videos 🤣💚
    I just bought a huge monstera and I want it to grow upwards but I don’t think it’s time to repot. Do you think it’d be okay if I made this moss pole and just stuck it in the back?

    • @GoodandPlanty
      @GoodandPlanty  3 роки тому +1

      thank you so much!! welcome to the channel 💚 💚 I think that's totally doable, assuming the roots haven't claimed all of the pot space haha. If you need a thick pole but are worried about pot space, you can also put a thinner pvc pipe in the middle of the pole and have it stick out of the bottom so you have a thinner piece to shove into the pot. Hopefully that makes sense?? 🤦🏻‍♀️
