If you can find packing cling film rolls that are an inch or two wide, that has been the best. Could use the velcro, if it's a larger and heavier plant, for inital support. Then use the film around aerial root nodes to secure plant further, increase humidity for faster growth, and encourage roots to grow into pole.

I'm so happy I discovered your page! I am repotting my plants and wanted cuter-looking moss pole than the Coco coir poles I bought from my local plant shop. These looks so much better and seem easier to keep moist. It took me a few poles to master the zip tie process, but they look great. Can't wait to see how they help my plants grow. Here's to growing some huge a*s leaves! 😍

Great minds think alike? I did the same this summer only I had some black plastic fence. Put the fence down and then I used pvc pipe for the inside. It comes in 8 ft lengths and cut it down to 5 ft. Then wrapped it with moss and fence. The pcv is really sturdy and will not rot plus you can make some really tall ones. If you want to add on just melt the ends of pvc with a heat gun to add more height.

Oh I see what you mean!! Yes you can remove them from the moss pole very carefully 😁 and to attach roots to a new pole, youd only stuff and seal the bottom, feed the roots thru the fencing while it's not stuffed or closed off, then add spagnum and seal it up slowly as you go!

So you mean the little black bar at the top? That is just the trim the fencing has! 😁

How long I need to soak the sphagnum moss before make it into moss pole?

5-10 minutes is usually enough if you fully saturate it, it absorbs water very quickly! I also squeeze it in the water to help it along 👍🏻

Hey love your info and video. Really appreciate the tips about how to water with the squirt bottle and not to mist. Also the Bobby pins.
I want to let you know (not sure if you know by now after shooting the video) that calling it a “totem” is offensive, inappropriate, and also inaccurate. Even if it sounds cute and rolls off the tongue and is easy to say, it would feel better if you instead called it what it is: a moss pole.
The reason for this is that totems have cultural significance and meaning. You are not crafting something of that nature - It’s just a moss pole to keep your plant up, right? So please in future if you call it a moss pole instead of a totem, that would feel better, and not feel appropriative of someone else’s culture and spirituality. I don’t believe your are a bad human or being intentionally appropriative. But with knowledge we can all become better. I hope this resonates with you and you consider it.
Despite this, I am subscribed and looking forward to learning more from you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and learnings.

Hey, thanks for the nice comment about this!
I actually was already notified of this issue so I updated the description box with a note about the mistake I made. I also consulted my friend who is an Indigenous and Northern Mentor to learn talk about the mistake and got her advice on how to word the *edit* to help educate.
But you're entirely correct! I don't know why I assumed 'totem' had more than one meaning, and that was my own ignorance. A quick Google search proved that was incorrect!
Thanks for the message though, I appreciate how well you worded it ❤ thanks!!! Also glad to see people be informed on these issues and kindly spreading awareness.

Come on dude, she obviously means no offence and it’s easy to do nowadays with moss poles being labelled ‘totem poles’ everywhere commercially. Sure educate everyone on why its offensive, but she has all the right intentions
