If I can sort of add to something you said regarding trellises- while the roots cannot grow into and continue to get longer on a trellis, these are more like the supports they find in nature and their aerial roots will literally adhere to them, just as they do trees or buildings or whatever else 👌🏻Akin to growing plants on planks
i'm not really a moss pole kinda gal just bc im honestly too lazy to keep it moist lmaooo. but i am also thinking about trellising my philo. Melano. so pls keep us posted how it continues to grow on the trellis :)
I dont like moss poles either. Not because I am lazy but because if you get a pest I would imagine it would be a pain and maybe hard to notice at first. I also just don't like the look. I use bamboo stakes or raw wood always....I wrap them in different items to jazz them up a bit or help them blend in.

I was just about to jump into the bandwagon until I checked on maintenance. I have bouts of laziness so I will stick to the cheaper coco pole.lol Maybe I could slap some moss on the aerial roots when I have bouts of conscientiousness. Thanks for giving me the most valid excuse. Ha ha!

How do you keep your moss pole moist? I bought one from Amazon, and allowed it to soak in water for a while before putting it in my soil.
