Thanks for this had emptied my trap and had water all over my kitchen floor and had restrated the machine and cut my finger in the process then the trap was leaking .I saw your video and took another look and realised although it looked closed it wasn't aligned properly .I don't have the money for a plumber and didn't want to ask my Kids for help on the weekend .This simple video and a quick prayer turned my day around 😊
Glad it helped!
Thank you SO MUCH! I cleaned my filter for the first time in 5 years. I didn’t know I needed to until recently. When I put it back on, it made a big water mess all over my floor. I couldn’t find any help on the Samsung website. This was the only helpful thing I could find and it is fixed now.
Glad it helped!
Flooded laundry room floor here.... I'm going to run back downstairs and apply what I learned here today. Thank you sir!
God bless you. My whole laundry was filled with water after I cleaned the filter. Your video helped me. Thanks
You are welcome.
No exaggeration, exact same thing as many others and you just saved me from not sleeping or even worse, making an expensive call! THANK YOU!
You're very welcome!
Thank you so much, I was pulling out hair trying to figure out why my machine was leaking and you saved me a very expensive call. God bless.
If you cant see any arrows, then try this.. What did it for me, was noticing a channel cut into the plastic of the Filter Trap tube. You have to look carefully far into the hole where the Filter Trap goes and line up that piece of plastic with the groove in the Filter Trap. If its lined up, it goes in very easily and you dont have to press hard or fiddle with it at all.
I did still have to keep pressing hard until I saw water I'd poured in the drum from a bowl stop, but the validation of the groove in the plastic was very much appreciated, ty
Can someone help 😭 my mom is asking me to fix her Samsung washing machine because the filter thing would not open. I think it’s because she probably closed it wrong last time. Now when I try to open it (the filter) , all I hear it a loud snap every time I spin it. And it won’t open. Any advice…?
@@barbia9460 hard to know for sure, but I think you need to push in while turning counter clockwise. This was the case for me. You have to press pretty hard and I suggest pliers.
@@JeadsKeebsAndCoffeeCo yeah it turned out I wasn’t pushing hard enough lmao. Thanks for the help tho!
Thank you for that tip! You just saved us sooo much time!
This was happening to me as well. I wad getting a 1LC1 code on my washing machine. I looked it up and it kept saying my hose was either clogged or kinked in a way that there was no water flow. After watching your video I noticed that I had never saw “open” or “closed” on the filter. This saved me from having to buy a new washer! Thank you
You are a lifesaver. It worked you had the only video explaining this. Thank you very much!!!
You are welcome.
Thank you so much! I removed the filter to clean it last month and it's been leaking since. Been having a drip pan. Finally spent time looking for help and this video helped fix it for good.
Glad it helped!
Hi Rick, you just saved me from a huge new washer bill. Thanks to the info in your vid. Thank you very much 😊
Great to hear!
THANK YOU!!! I didn’t have the arrows either, but figured it out from you mentioning it needs to be lined up exactly. Very helpful! Thank you!
You're welcome!!
Thanks for the video. It helped helped me a lot but because I did not clean well the plug prior to forcing it in, some lint and hairs got caught in the rubber gasket making it ineffective and causing water to leak out. I noticed this when I removed the plug to see if I broke the gasket which was still in good condition. Lesson learned...rinse well the basket and gasket and also clean the hole where it goes before replacing the drain plug. Also, test for leaks before starting a laundry batch by pouring a gallon of water first inside the machine. you will create a huge water mess if you happen to have a huge leak. Good luck.
Thank you for your information. It worked the first time I tried. I pulled the whole filter out, put the lid and filter together (pushed hard), and put it back.Thank you.
Glad it helped
Thank you for taking the time to make this, I was struggling with this stupid thing for a while!
You are welcome.
FANTASTIC. SAVED ME LOTS OF TIME AND MONEY
Thank you! I went down and saw a huge pool of water, and I thought I was in for a big expense. Thankfully I remembered I cleaned out the trap last week and sure enough, a continuous leak coming from the trap.
Glad it helped!
I am having a hard time take off the safety cap in order to screw it back on correctly- any suggestions?
Thank you for your help. God bless you!🙏
Thank you for the short and precise explanation!😊

You're welcome!
Oh man, you saved me. Thanks!!
Thanks so much for the help 🙏 I did it all by myself 🎉🎉
Glad it helped!
THANK YOU SO MUCH ONG
Rick: Thank you. I experienced exactly the same problem. I thought it was the drain filter that got deformed and had ruined the seal. I did not see an arrow, but pushed extra hard when screwing in the child-proof knob - what a poor design. So many other annoying problems with the dryer after the warranty expired. Will be our last machines of this make.
I agree, although I had a different brand before this one that was a top loader that I had even more issues with. I think it is the quality of appliances in general today has drastically declined. Thanks for watching.
Omg, same thing happened to me! I didn’t know about the arrow thing- I’m about to check this now THANK YOU!
Good Luck!
I was looking for a technician, when I ran into this (please read all of this because it may save you hundreds, and restore your faith in your samsung washer). I had taken out the childproof filter (which is a bitch, btw), cleaned it, and put it back on, but it leaked, and the washer kept stopping in the middle of the wash, and the 5C kept coming on screen. then I saw this video about the arrows needing to be aligned. Well, when I took off the filter to look for the arrows, I looked deep within the whole where the filter goes, in the tube that brings everything from the drum to the filter. There, I saw sooo much lint, with something dividing the hole in two halves...It was a black plastic pocket comb. This was keeping all the lint from getting to filter, and keeping everything clogged. I took all that stuff out, aligned the filter with the arrow (which is very tiny and hard to spot), and twisted it clockwise until it made that rattle sound. Then I set it on self clean. Nothing leaked. Then I ran a quick wash to test with clothes, and the wash ran straight through, without stopping once. No more 5C. The clothes DON'T stink anymore, neither does washer, and it stopped leaking. I took a pic of all the gunk that was stuck in the tube behind the filter, but don't know how to attach. Anyway, try looking in the tube behind your filter, maybe there is something stuck there as well, and look for the arrow in the hole where the filter goes, right on top (12 o'clock), and align with a thick line on filter. Good luck!
Lifesaver information! Your teaching was exactly what fixed my link after cleaning filter. Jesus Bless You! Yes! Amen!
Glad it helped!
Hello my brother thanks for much from China Your Video Help me out it was leaking in the filter down I removed it and aligned it and it worked
Good to hear
Very helpful.
THANK YOU
wow thanks man it was leaking a lot!
Very very helpful. Thank you
You're welcome!
You're a lifesaver! 😅😊
Happy to help!
Thanks for the video. We have the same washer but can't see the arrows you are mentioning. Any tricks you can recommend if we don't have the arrows? Thanks for any help.
I can't send a picture in the comments, but mine are really just raised plastic and the same color as the rest. Is it possible to feel for them and mark them with a sharpie. I can barely see mine. Or it could be that you have the non-childproof version, that one may not have arrows.
Same issue here. Thanks Rick
You are welcome
God bless this helpful man
Thank you
Thank God I saw your video
Thank you!!!
You are welcome!
Mine was still leaking but I believe the o ring is messed up i lined the arrows up and tried multiple times but still had a small leak so i just ordered a new one hopefully this works
Thank you
You're welcome
I see the keys but how do I align it when I'm putting it back in.
My leaking is coming from that. I thought i finally had it in correct. But leaking. Do you know where to get the non child proof kind? How will i know once its in correct? Just try it? Did this fix your leak?
I cant seem to push it hard and to hear the click its easy to take out and i lined up the arrow too
Thank you Rick. I’m trying to figure out why my washing machine (same as yours) all of the sudden starting leaking from underneath. So much water from the leak we are going to have to replace the baseboards. I have an inkling this might be it.
I hope it is the drain, should be an easy fix. I do believe there is an o-ring on that drain filter that could be bad also. Sorry you are dealing with the stress!
Listen to me, Do what is on video, but, also check to see if there is stuff stuck in the tube behind the filter! My filter was clean, but 5C kept coming up, washer kept stopping, until I looked in that hole that is behind where filter goes. It is the tube that connects drum to filter. once I took all that gunk, no more 5c.
I’ll try this tomorrow! Do you have a link to the Non-child proof part by any chance?
sorry I don't, perhaps someone else will chime in.
@@RickBolt I ended up doing it with my mangled filter, tested it with a bucket of water and was good to go til I got the replacement. Thanks again!
I can easily get mine out but I can’t get it back in without it leaking water for the life of me. I’ve tried using a wrench. Any other tips on screwing it back in to stop the leaking?
Did you ever fix yours? I'm having the same problem
I clean my drain filter only about once a year. It doesn't get a lot of heavy use.
Although, I think I should check it at least once a month. ; )
The main leak problem for me was with the door seal. It was a mess until I removed it and reinstalled it. I don't think it was properly fitted at the factory.
I always seem to be working on washing machines. Must be because we use them more than usual. At least you have the skills to make it right when it does not come from the factory correct. I have not seen a leak on a door seal yet, knocking on wood....
Hey rick, how did you remove it? Mines is stuck and wont come out. Im guessing its the child lock feature
It was somewhat difficult, I had to push in and turn counter clockwise pretty hard. If it is really stuck, you might try some big pliers, push in and turn. I really don't like this drain and the child lock...
I was able to use a wrench to push it in real hard and turn it till it comes lose.
The pliers are what did it for me! My wife tried to get it open but there was so much crap in it that she couldn’t reseal it so there was water leaking everywhere. Tried pushing as hard with gloves as I could but no luck. Pliers did the trick! Must be a child cause I certainly couldn’t get that open!
This is a PAIN to take out! Sheesh
My problem is how to remove that filter i already turned to counter clockwise but stil cant remove itl
Hey, I’m trying to clean the filter and it looks exactly like this. I’m doing it for my momma but I have no clue how to get this bad boy off, can I have some help please 🙏🥺
Use a wrench and press hard, while pressing rotate to unlock. There are UA-cam videos showing this procedure.
Never leaks on me and I don't pay any attention to the orientation
just made same mistake 😒😒😒 ty
How do we get the flipping cap off in the first place??? Fighting with it for an hour and about to throw this machine away
Maybe push in harder and turn? Some people said they used pliers to get more leverage, but that could break the plastic.
@@RickBolt thanks. Ended up being that while we were trying to unscrew it, it's sort of got stuck ratcheting in both directions. Where to push it in and move it back to the start position and then push it in and turn it left again otherwise it would just spin endlessly. This whole design seems awfully unnecessary.
I broke the cap while trying to pull the darn thing off for about an hour not to mention hurting my hand. Now im screwed. No more samsung washer for me.
How can I take it out I’m having trouble
Maybe push in and turn left? If it is the child lock version that may help.
I see one arrow, and not the other
I didn't see any arrows but lined up filter and screwed it back in, each time it continued to leak so I finally ordered a new filter trap, poor design.
Hey next time, tell all the important stuff first, don’t wait until 3/4 of the way done, people that watch these type of how-tos are usually in a panic trying to get it done.
Guy relax, it’s a 1 minute video. All of the other ones are well over 10 minutes
The video isn’t even 2 minutes long…
