    • @LironSegev
      @LironSegev  4 місяці тому

    • @stabbb1299
      @stabbb1299 4 місяці тому +1

      I see, but perhaps it might be a good follow-up to expand out to a SHTF list. Due to UA-cam restrictions you would probably have to leave out the firearm part of the equation, but the radiation detectors on eBay have gotten to be very reasonable & it's an essential. I'm thinking the worst case scenario here but better safe than sorry...

    I purchased a very small hand-cranked generator that I have with my bug-out kit. It’s half the size of a Twinkie and does a good job at recharging a phone or anything else that needs a bit of electricity. But I consider it a last-ditch option if there’s absolutely nothing else available.
    As far as armed options go, don’t forget that almost any firearm adds bulk, weight and one more thing to worry about in an emergency situation. Bullets are also a finite resource that will turn your personal defense into useless weight that you have to drag around. What are you going to do? Ask strangers if they got any spare ammo? Going to keep your firearm as a club or hammer? When preparing for disruptive situations, people have to look way beyond and plan accordingly to actively avoid conflicts that may arise. It’s not enough to have a Plan A, but you should have a Plan Z as a last resort.

    • @LironSegev
      @LironSegev  4 місяці тому +3

      agreed - these are not SHTF situation, this is just for those days where the grid takes a knock and you have to get through for a bit. Obviously for bugging in/ out its a whole other story. A nice crossbow doesn't hurt to have either

    My uncle was able to put a small motor on a bicycle and turn it into a moped. If you do this, don't use a motor with a lot of cc. It will be classified as a motorcycle and require class m license if too high cc.
    I'd also recommend an old cell phone (even if no longer has a number) all cell phones can call 911

  • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen

    Just start to go camping and you will already have way more stuff. Campers are preppers without the lunacy 😅 My advice, forget the Bluetti and get a petrol generator and at least 20 l of fuel. That will last a lot longer if the power is off for a long time.

    • @LironSegev
      @LironSegev  4 місяці тому

      Agree on the camping part. Disagree on the petrol generator. It requires maintenance, oil changes, and fuel. You can't use it indoors, it's heavy to move around, and useless for most of the year when you don't need it. When you are snowed in, the fuel pumps are empty as fuel trucks can't get in. With Power station you can use solar to charge it.

    • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
      @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen 4 місяці тому

      The power stations are good but we always keep a petrol gennie as a backup. The main reason is, at least over here as we don't have snow, they work any time you need them and don't rely on the sun. Yes they have to be run outside but a long extension cable fixes that. Solar is a real challenge in wet weather due to cloud cover. We have got just about every type of power generation as we go travelling a lot. Camping trailer with solar, motorhome with solar, wind generator and a petrol geiine so we never have to worry about mains power going down. @@LironSegev

    • @LironSegev
      @LironSegev  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes, the power stations are not cheap, but they are a lifesaver (can be literally).
      Also there are really cheap crappy ones, so dont buy the cheapest as you will have issues with things like batty keeping its charge, safety issues etc.
      You can also get an inverter and connect it to a car battery - I have done that before and that is a cheaper way to start but doesnt have the facilities you may need.

    i used to own one of those mega anker charger things. but it broke when it got bumped it was less durable.
    them smaller power banks is not enough.
    i found sweet spot. which is midranged power banks from anker. like 27,000 mah 250w power banks. multiple of them is alot more versatile and durable than 1 super sized power bank atleast for me as since i am traveling alot and throwing bags in and out of cars alot. so this method numerous midranged ones to me more durable and versatile. i eventually switched to this method.
    as far as electric bikes vs gas. gas bikes engine and instal cost 100 to 200 bucks. they get 180 mpg and can go like 40mph. and sont have to wait for it to charge. and less care if someone steals it since it is so cheap. electric bikes can cost 1000s. for frugal people they may consider gas powered bicycles as an option. it can go infinite distance so as long how much gas a person is willing to carry in their backpack.

      makes sense and really depends on your usage. I have an EB55 and it's been very handy as we have a lot of power outages in Queensland due to storms. I've bumped mine and it's been well jostled. It can run my laptop & fan for about 4 hours but not the internet. Most of our internet is through the NBN (the power cables to the house). So if a line or substation is down the internet goes down too. Haven't tried using the phone to hotspot. I have a mountain bike with pannier racks. Much cheaper than spending $4500 on an e-bike. Yes in Australia they start at $4500 as they aren't popular and because of all our regulations like speed limiters that can't be tampered with.
