    02:28 Why is this Sodium battery suitable for the Tesla $25K EV?
    05:31 Why is Spencer's sodium ion battery still facing challenges?
    ===
    THE END OF LITHIUM! New Sodium-ion Battery Can Hit INSANE Range, Change Everything In 2025! The sodium-ion battery arrived late but has ultimately become much more powerful. A former Tesla engineer, Spencer Gore is commercializing his most advanced sodium-ion battery technology, offering 300 miles of range similar to the LFP battery in the Model Y but at a significantly lower cost.
    THE END OF LITHIUM! New Sodium-ion Battery Can Hit INSANE Range, Change Everything In 2025! This makes it particularly suitable for Elon Musk's $25,000 affordable electric car. This is the first time a sodium-ion battery pack has achieved this, and Elon may find it hard to overlook.
    THE END OF LITHIUM! New Sodium-ion Battery Can Hit INSANE Range, Change Everything In 2025! As of now, battery issues are no longer too challenging for Tesla, with the 4680 production line making significant progress, producing around 1,000 battery packs per week. Of course, these are reserved for more expensive vehicles like the Cybertruck.

    One of the major disadvantages of sodium-ion batteries is their relatively low energy density - the amount of energy stored relative to the battery's volume. Lower energy density means bulkier and heavier batteries.

    The issue is not about the range but your still be the ABC of ownership - always be charging. EV is too much tech dependent expensive to repair, tire worn-out much faster, expensive insurance, unreliable range, too much use of fast charging, too cold/ too hot, heavy load with spare tire, uphill travel, usage of air conditioner, info tainment usage affects battery life. EV is not for all no matter how you say improvement of battery, still you need to charge a waste of time...

    • @ngiordano75
      @ngiordano75 10 днів тому +2

      Not one bit of that is true. Charging, and management of an EV, is not difficult. Like any vehicle repairs at dealerships are pricey. Always go private repair. (Battery replacement at the dealer $20,000. Private repair or replace $5000) There are million mile Tesla's. There have been very few cars that have been able to achieve that. EV's have far less moving parts and less regular maintenance. Range does get affected by temperatures... Again very manageable. People do not regularly drive 200 miles a day... EV's handle hills just as fine as internal combustion cars. I live in a green State with many EV's. I have yet to hear an actual complaint that warrants pause.
      There are good and bad internal combustion cars.
      That will also be the same for EV's.

    Sodium-Ion Batteries with an onboard Microturbine Generator would be perfect for long range EVs and solve the very real issue of “Range Under Load” for heavy duty pickups and semi trucks in the real world.
    I can see Edison Motors adopting Sodium-Ion Batteries for their Semi Truck and Heavy Duty Pickup Retrofit Kits, after all do you really need excessively large batteries when your vehicle is capable of recharging on the go.
    For those that are unaware of Edison Motors they are a Canadian Startup that is nearing the start of production of their Heavy Duty Off and On Road Heavy Haul Semi Truck that has already been tested with over 100,000 lbs combined weight.
    The truck is built using off the shelf components on a custom built 1/2” Thick steel frame (necessary for long logging) electric axles, and a 9 liter Caterpillar Diesel driving a generator to recharge the onboard battery packs along with regenerative braking.

      Chemistry 101 ! ! !
      Lithium-ion batteries. Lithium (Li) is a chemical Element at the head of Column 1 in the Chemical Periodic Table, also in Column 1 are the following Elements in order, Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Rubidium (Rb), Caesium (Cs) and Francium (Fr). All of these elements are vicious in their activity with other chemicals, particularly water, where they burn at a very high temperature.
      The viciousness increases as you go down the table, sodium-ion batteries will be much more explosive than lithium-ion batteries.
      New research is going on into Sodium-ion batteries which are much cheaper to manufacture than Lithium-ion batteries since Sodium is fairly cheap to manufacture from common salt. If ever they do make Sodium-ion batteries, well don’t even think about it, they will be ten times worse than Li-ion batteries.

      Company’s rarely make more then a 17% profit in a stable market though that number lowers in an extremely stable economy and raises in an uncertain economy. (In an uncertain economy makes people sweat. Lower production messed up supply and demand, and if there are upchain production issues the risk of taking major financial hits scares people so they need a bigger “ financial bumper” it’s also harder for new In coming competition to pick a market to tackle)

    Sounds like a good solution for battery backup or use with solar energy. In a car they would be more dangerous in an accident. Imagine getting hit by a heavy Li battery pack which adds a ton to the impact. Then add a heavier Sodium battery pack, your survivability just went down. Do we need more dangerous vehicles riding around us?

      mmmmm it really depends on research, Lithium ion has been refined over time but the pillars of the technology didn't change much for decades...some experimental chemistries are speculated to be good enough in theory for high power requirements like airplanes, but it's too far off. AI can certainly speed it up but considering current research, don't expect airplanes on batteries for at least a decade.

      Far as I know its out there, but just not from Tesla, but many NA plants going online this year, next, and the following year in the US, UK, and a few other locations. So should be plenty of production for the battery it self along from China as well. So we should see it sooner than later type of thing, but it is a new battery (in a way) so deployment will be a bit sluggish.
