That Blue TRD I usually start with the tire first then move on to the rim! Just so the rim doesnt get all dirty again from the tire if you do it last...now that i typed it all out maybe your way is better...thanks for the vids tho!!
A buddy of mine who had these wheels said they are pourous and to only use a specific finisher/wash that doesnt damage the matte finish. How have they been holding up? I was thinking about picking these up for my silver sky metallic Tacoma, but went with the FN Wheel version for now. We'll see how they do.
Hi. Like u said they are a pain. What do you think about if I take them to paint shop and have them spray a semi gloss coat or maybe even a satin over them ?? Give them a lil more shine, so it can be easier to clean. I know I will get water spots and oxidation on the matte
That was very informative actually! I hate cleaning the rims on my limited as I have to dry them immediately after I wash them to avoid water spots due to us having hard water. Definitely going to buy the blower for the rims
I work in massage therapy and when you mentioned citrus, I though about Citrus 2 that we use to clean massage tables and lord behold it worked as I rubbed it off.
hey blue, something my tire shop mentioned to me when installing these trd rims last year was to never use acidic cleaners on them... i wasn’t totally sure what kind of damage acid cleaners could do, and should have asked, but it sounds like fading was the reason as a previous commenter here mentioned. I’m going to look tomorrow for a strong cleaner that’s non-acidic.
I have those same rims when you use all purpose cleaners or degreasers do the rims start chapping or fading. Right now I just use a mat car shampoo with a mat detailed to dry and project
I haven’t noticed any fading yet. I’ve only had it for 7 months though. Now you have me worried. But the one I use is ph neutral so it shouldn’t fad it. How does that work for your drying ?
dang! the difference is huge. What does the de-greaser do to the rims? If having both citrus + degreaser do you spray both before cleaning? thanks man! keep up the great channel enjoy following you
Thank you I appreciate it! Citrus is more for if it’s not super dirty. I use the degreaser for super gunky and especially on the breaks. But most the time it’s just citrus and soap. I appreciate you watching!
Sonax is what I use. I do use Allclean for under the hood cleaning and stuff. Lol I made a similar video but haven’t uploaded it. The FJ TT wheels I had were the same matte finish also. The tundra TRD pro is glossy but showed a lot of swirls. I have a few 4R videos I plan on uploading. Thanks for sharing.
It’s growing on me. It was cheap yet effective. I didn’t need a full blown gas one. I feel it’s only the 2000psi with the 0’ nozzle attached. But for mud removal, house cleaning, and foam cannon, I feel it’s just fine.
I see you are a chemical guys person, may I recommend using diablo wheel gel, works perfect on rims and maybe just a tire cleaner just to get more of the dirt off but whatever works well for you, and maybe recommend a dirt trap for the bucket
Let me know how you clean your rims!

I can definitely see how that makes sense. Maybe have a separate bucket just for the tire and one for the rim and do it that way.

Holding up well. I just use wheel cleaner now on them for car guys
I have two sons, that’s how I clean them.

Thx.good stuff. I have trail edition premium wheels.with black backing.Whats best mild cleaner to remove brake dust but not harm finish?

It makes it so much easier! Hate drying them. It’s also awkwardly satisfying.
I was curious how others attack those TRD stock wheels, because they do get dirty quick, and are not the easiest to clean. This was helpful!
Glad I could help. They are a pain yes!
You have the link for the air blower ?
Great video. Thanks for doing these videos.

I’ll have to look into that then! Thanks for the heads up! I haven’t noticed anything yet. But I’ll ask as well. Thank you

is like a garden blower fine?
Yea if it blows it off. Should work

Sounds awesome. Ya the all clean is super awesome to clean with. Just upload! It’s fun! Thanks for watching.
Great vid. Thank you.
How do you like that pressure washer?

Good tips, I would have made the mistake of hosing it down with water first. Thanks!
Do the front DD switchback tutorial next.
That’s definitely on the mod list. I will do it as soon as I can. 👍🏼
Great looking pro.... bro.... :)
Thank you my friend!
Are you getting some wheel nut locks in those great wheels?
They already came with them. I’m pretty sure that’s what the awkward one is. But ima be changing them to black soon
Is that a detail blower or just a regular leaf blower?
Technically a leaf blower. I have a Rigid shop vac from homedepot and the top portion comes off to Mac it a blower
I NEED TO CLEAN MINE BRAKE DUST LOW KEY
Awesome! 💯

Thank you!! I have a dirt trap. Idk if I used it in the video or not. And I’ve been looking at the diablo gel! New pulled the trigger
Looks like I’m getting a leaf blower!
Hahaha works wonders
Best way to clean these wheels is to not clean them. LOL !
Audio could be a bit louder. Love the content though. Keep up the good work!
My bad. I edited this with head phones in. Should have checked
Thanks bro these rims are a pain to clean.
Overkill imo. Dish soap and water. To each his own. It will get dirty again and again and again...
It is a bit overkill I agree. I do like using the soap though because it has some wax in it to protect the rim for an easier clean.
