Love, love your videos Josh!! Working on a 10 year old Audi SQ5 that pretty much has been neglected over the last 5 years. Ive been working on my wheels for 2 days and still not finished!! Have used DIY products including iron remover, all clean, and incredible suds. It's working, but I was impressed of your review on the Koch Chemie Magic Wheel Cleaner.... will give it a try, what the heck.
Think it's important to note that a dedicated wheel cleaner, which is one of the more expensive products, isn't necessary for a maintenance wash. If you're a beginner reading this, soap and water works just fine unless you have caked on brake dust. You can spray an iron remover once ever 6 months or so to prevent any build up, but it's not necessary for every wash. If you have black high gloss rims and don't want them to get as scratched, first off god bless your soul, but doing a pre soak and rinse with a strong degreaser like Green Star will go a long way
@@jseels for consumers, Meguiar's All Wheel Cleaner, Griot's Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner and Adam's Wheel Cleaner don't have that powerful, skunky smell. Adam's Wheel Cleaner you need to be extra careful with though. Even after checking to make sure my wheels/brakes passed the "cool to the touch" test, it stripped the paint off of 2/4 of my calipers
How do you clean the mitts / with the microfiber mitts / brushes that contact the wheel when drying them . I don't know about washing them in the clothes washer.
Thanks for the video. I just picked up an adams dryer and couldnt be happier. works great for drying wheels, mirrors, grill and other hard areas difficult to fry with a towel.
Thanks for the vid Josh. Simpler for me to buy a gallon of brake buster, spray whole wheel and tire, agitate and rinse. Only $30 for a gallon and dilutes also. I am a fan of Koch chemie tho. Especially their motorplast. I need to get a barrel blade thanks for showing it.
Yea brake buster is a fantastic deal and I use it alot also! Personally i think the magic wheel cleaner works better in some situations like this satin black wheel. But Brake Buster is great
I need to try the Mwc….P and S Brake Buster gets sooo much hype-I had pretty grimy wheels to clean, but I literally used an entire 16 oz bottle on 4 wheels-and it left a residue…it just didn’t hold up to my expectations at all-love Koch Chemie..excited to try this
From my experience with Koch Chemie GSF is a prewash/wash for the car because(Ph neutral) it doesn't affect the protection on the car(wax/ ceramic/sealant).GSF doesn't serve a purpose after the Magic wheel cleaner which is more powerful. I use GS for wheels and engine bay and it's a degreaser. Nice video
I bought one of the Barrel Blade not long ago and had the opportunity to use it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Did a great job, too! I may have the one vehicle that it still can't get behind the brake caliper, though. I own a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and it has big, Brembo brakes on it. The Barrel Blade works great on the rear wheels; it clears the brake calipers just fine. The front, however, is still very tough for me. There's just one part that I can't get the blade to slide under completely. So, I still need to move the vehicle a few inches forwards or backwards to get at that particular section. Minor inconvenience to say the least. I did like the finish that the tire dressing left on your vehicle (nice ride, btw!), so I think I'll be grabbing a bottle of that to try out. As always, great video and thanks for sharing!
I was just about to comment asking if this would be good on TrD pro wheels and there you go answering that exact question, thx josh… ur right, those pro wheels are incredible difficult to get clean… i will be using this method next time! 🤘🏽
Thanks for this. I've followed your videos, but the 19" gloss black wheels on my CX-5 are a nightmare. An EZ Detail Brush reached the barrel nicely, but left micro-scratches on my brand new wheels. The Wheel Woolies 9" Boars Hair Detail Brush is soft, but doesn't fit between all of the spokes. I have a pair on Scrub-It microfiber dusting gloves coming in that I'll try next.
Question Josh, I'm going to wash a high-rise building and will be using a Powerwasher. I will need a lot of hoses and wondering how much psi I will be losing. *I heard around 50 psi for every 100' of hose.* Is that about right? I'll need a high powered one I suppose.
Great video! I watched another video were they advocated to use iron remover after the wheel cleaner because then it is only attacking the iron that is underneath the dirt and thus more effective. What do you think? They mentioned that in the advertising videos all that purple color was actually coming from the dirt and not the embedded iron.
I like your process! I'll definitely be looking at this wheel brush now, having that security with quality is phenomenal and makes things easier. The mwc is gel like which really clings and its phenomenal I've been using brake buster and then iron remover if needed but mwc is awesome Another plus.. gsf has a great cherry scent
@josh awesome videos man. I recently came across your page and have watched tons of your videos. I have heard you mention the TRD Pro wheels a few times and was curious if you could do a video on cleaning the TRD Pro wheels. I have a Tacoma and 4Runner TRD Pro and you are correct, the wheels are a pain to clean. I just ordered a few things you recommend and P&S Brake Buster is one of those items. Would love to see a full detail on a TRD Pro if you ever get the chance. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks.

Hey josh! I got a couple questions. 1.I got a question about my Ridgid 200 PSI 4.5 gal electric quiet compressor. It doesn't want to run with my 2200 watt generater. Is the predator 3500 watt generator enough power for it. I've read online that in order to power that 1.5 HP, you need 6000 watts to. Any input is helpful, thank you. 2. What type of water do you use in to wash cars. What do you carry in your portable tank, distilled or regular tap water from the hose? Thank you!
One word of caution when it comes to using caustic wheel cleaners that a lot of DIY'er's at home don't realize. If you wax or use a sealant on your rims, you might want to think twice about using those heavy hitter wheel cleaning products. While most work well, many are very high on the PH scale, some as high as a PH 13.5 to 14 which is very alkaline and will most likely strip off any form of protection you have, or more appropriately said "HAD" on your wheels because they may strip off any form of protection you have on your rims. For the rim face of wheels that have heavy contamination, I use P21S Wheel Cleaner or their Wheel Cleaner Gel which is PH controlled (maybe as high as a 9.5 so it's on the more moderate alkaline scale) which will be much less likely to strip off any wax or sealant you have on your rims. On well maintained wheels (meaning a waxed, sealed, or ceramic coated rims), that are cleaned weekly or bi-weekly, believe it or not I use Chemical Guys Diablo Wheel Cleaning Gel Concentrate which is PH NEUTRAL and a soap based formula which they describe as oxygen infused whatever that is. It is a very safe wheel cleaner that won't strip off your wax or sealant. Now it's not going to get heavy dirt and grime off of a wheel. It just won't do that. Anytime you see products with the words ACTIVE, it usually means that it's either a HIGH (Alkaline) or LOW (Acidic) product, wheel cleaner or soap. Again, the caustic cleaners work great in those situations when you have a trashed wheel, but not necessary at all when you have a well maintained wheel. I was using them all the time not realizing that many will strip off your protection. A lot of the iron removers are great wheel cleaners and most of those are PH balanced and perfectly safe, other than 90% of them smell horrible like rotten eggs. I just hate dealing with that smell. Diablo doesn't have a bad smell, it smells like a soap, although it won't tackle the heavy contamination like an Iron Remover will.
I use Green Star on the lower portion on my car since it’s white to clean up gunk, grime etc. Is that safe on paint? Great content and review as always!
Yes, you can use Green Star as an APC/Prerinse on paint but just dilute it so it is not so aggressive. Lots of people add a little in their GSF when they foam a car for that reason. You should be good to go!
I'm curious if there is a need to worry about Bedding of the brake rotor needs to be a concern with some of these cleaners? Also how thin does that thing go as odd as is sounds I'm having a hard time getting a rim brush tool between my wife's front brake caliper on her Honda Odyssey. I've actually had a few either break or rendered unsafe to use due to metal parts sticking out. It is completely factory and the clearance is really low.
Josh what would you recommend for glossy black wheels that have been neglected, lots of build up from brake dust etc…would you goto an acid cleaner? If so which one
The magic wheel cleaner is a good choice. Or you can try meguiars hot wheels (I think that’s the one that has a bit of acid in it) if you want to try that. But honestly I stick with non acid wheel cleaners 98% of the time and get fantastic results. Regardless if they are painted black test a small area first to make sure there is no reaction.

@josh great video, I have a 981 as well and I'm literally always talking about cleaning my wheels to my friends. They get so incredibly dirty and caked on, I've used ironX, greenstar, and PnS BB(this one is decent). Might have to give the Kcx wheel cleaner a try, seems a lot of spray though, how many washes would that bottle last?
Yea i went a little heavy on the spray just for the visual. But the bottle isnt that big so maybe two uses in my opinion. What i do is use this when they get caked up and then use brake buster or something like that for the maintenance!
@imjoshv Are the Porsche rims satin finished or matte? Do you have PPF on your Porsche? If so, do you think its safe to use a pressure washer on it? I've been told not to use one because it can weaken the edges of the PPF.
I dont but i work on countless cars with PPF. My pressure is reduced to about 1100psi but you still just keep a little distance from the surface and youll be fine!

When I’m working on a mobile job I don’t. Speed is important so I never take the extra time to get a stool. I probably should though, it’s much more comfortable
Seeing how much dressing makes it onto the tread tells me you probably don’t hit corners even remotely fast 🤣 Not a bad thing, it’s good to be safe, but dressing on treads is bad for cornering. Solid video still though and thank you!

I did a video on that! Here you go CAR TIRE DRESSING | Best car tire dressing | Detailing TIPS & TRICKS

@@imjoshv thank you sir, because i caught the devil yesterday on a set of 35" grapplers. Went through an entire pack of HF. Applicators getting into EVERY void!
Grande Josh, bellissimo viedo, spiegato tutto benissimo, anche se visto con i sottotitoli in Italiano.
Sei davvero BRAVO e preso bene. PECCATO che Autofibre non è distribuito in Italia. Grazie
Great video!❤
Thanks
I’ve seen gs used with gfs in a foam cannon on paint. Does gs remove ceramic coating when used on paint?
Do you have PPF on your Porsche? If so, do you think its safe to use a pressure washer on it? I've been told not to use one because it can weaken the edges of the PPF.
I dont but i work on countless cars with PPF. My pressure is reduced to about 1100psi but you still just keep a little distance from the surface and youll be fine!
I need a good chair like the one u are using when cleaning tires lol please help
What sponge do you use for your tire shine?
See his store for reference
How does that brush compare to the microfiber madness incredibrush flat?
I went with adams wheel and tire cleaner to avoid havebso many products for just the wheels
Awesome!
I love my wooly wormitt.
Yea they are great!
Does they wheel brush fit inside the calipers of a c7 zo6 ?
If you had to only go with one chemical manufacturer, who would it be?
Would you do the same for Matte finish wheels?
I wish this question (the same one I've posted) would get answered by someone, anyone in the know. I do NOT want to use anything Chemical Guys related.
Josh V. in particular.
Hey Josh do you use the 1.1 orifice or the 1.25 orifice in the foam cannon with the active unit?
Personally I still use a 1.1 but I think they say you should stay with the 1.25 I haven’t had any issues with using it with a 1.1 though
@@imjoshv how long have you been running it with the 1.1? Thanks for the response. I just picked up the VE52 and don’t wanna mess up anything prematurely
Explains how wheel brush has a nice contour to fit the curve of the tire sidewall then proceeds to use it without utilizing the contour lol!
Yes I know prior to using it he admitted you didn’t have to use it that way I just thought it was funny.
Love your videos and have learned so much from you Josh! Keep up the excellent work!
Haha it s true.. My wheels have enough access that i didnt need to... But i probably should have shown it in use that way
how long does that tire shine last my brother
Do you prefer the Magic Wheel Cleaner or BrakeR for most jobs?
I go braker unless I want the iron removal since it’s more economical. Mwc is for my deeper clean
@@imjoshv thank you so much! Got the active 2.0, mjjc pro v2, Adam’s mega foam, quick connects, and whatever the blue hose is called thanks to your channel and some others. Really appreciate you!
Are your wheels coated??
Do u usually use a stool cleaning wheels for ur customers or no, or did you just use one for this video.
Solid video still though and thank you!
what was the applicator that you used to apply tire dressing
See his store for reference
Good luck to everyone:)
Picked up some mwc and man did it make my life easier cleaning some wheels that had a decent layer of brake dust on em. Can’t recommend it enough. Word of caution though: it’s stinky! Smells like rotten eggs
I like the channel and video, but that soap was long gone by the time you did the wheel face with the brush
Yea the foam was, but it still leaves lubrication behind along with what is carried in the brush.
