Seeing Rayquaza on rank S alone is just a pure pleasure. Gen 3 was a huge milestone in the development of the Pokemon series and it deserves at least as much love as Gen 4.
Seeing Rayquaza at the top made me smile. To this day I still remember the way Rayquaza decended from the sky to stop Kyogre and Groudon from fighting, as a kid I was shocked and in awe at how badass Rayquaza was. No other Pokémon ever gave me that feeling.
I never played Gen 3, but seeing comments about how near and dear some games are to younger generations makes me tear up. I love seeing the passion people have
Whoever designed Rayquaza must’ve known that their design was amazing. It’s so good to the point that I thought the mega form was kinda messy and not nearly as good as the original design with the symbols and the red tinges
I'm with you except for the weird gum line Rayquaza has. Why bother making them pointed instead of actual teeth. That detail has weirded me out since I first seen Rayquaza.
Legendaries are supposed to be epic and powerful. Rayquaza is the god of sky, meant to keep the peace between the god of land and ocean. Palkia and Dialga are the creators of time and space. Mew and Cerebi, blissfully unaware of their own power and potential. Recent legendaries like kubfu and zarude are legendaries how exactly?! They are powerful sure, but so is garchomp. There are multiple of them! What is legendary about them exactly!
Legendary doesn't mean "only one exists". The Latis, creation trio, Shaymin, Genesect, Zygarde (technically), Celebi (might actually be only one but time travel shenanigans), and iirc pretty much all the Ultra Beasts (including Cosmog) there's multiples of. Possibly Deoxys too (universe is infinite, who knows where Deoxys even came from? It's kinda terrifying) Actually, ORAS made alternate universes kinda canon so if you want to be a nerd about it, having two of the same "ACTUALLY only one exists" legendary can be arguably justified in lore.
@@nicocchi there is a shiny celebi and a regular celebi in the anime, at least confirming the existence of 2 celebi canonically. There is also a baby Lugia alongside the regular lugia, appearing during the johto seasons.
What I mean is that a legendary should embody the word "legendary". No normal pokemon acts the way celebi or Lugia does. Also ultra beasts are not actually the same as normal legendaries. I do not have an issue with them because they have their own thing going and are only clumped together with legendaries due to being equal in a lot of ways. The difference between mythical and legendary Pokemon is nothing more than in game rarity really.
@@linushallgren4156 legendary should have something like a higher porpuse. Be it a god or something that when it does it wipes the whole planet. Something dangerous yet still it is a Living beeing with feelings . But this ultra beast thing. I didnt know ut Existed and i dont know the lore it just looks like pokemon that didnt made it but still implemented in the game.
Man to see rayquazza be the top of the chart makes me so happy ever since I found out it was a legendary it's been my favourite, everything about it is great even the shiny
I think what elevates Gen 4 above the rest is not only did they have Pokemon Platinum, a game with the best lore I've seen in a Pokemon series, but they also had Explorers of the Sky. I fell in love with Darkrai in that game, if anyone's played it, they know exactly what I'm talking about
Oh yeah I remember taking this poll. Edit: I definitely voted that Mythicals shouldn’t be gifted. They should be in the base game. Because it’s BS you miss out of Pokémon and your dex is forever incomplete unless you hack.
Not only dex based but it's the same if you want the pokemon in general because people doing online trading always want something super specific and incredibly rare for it
@@vincenttrigg4521 or you cant even trade them which is complet bs and frustrating if you have a nearly compleated dex in home without premium and only missing some mythicals

I like the idea of only being able to get mythicals through events, but I think that the dex should always be considered complete without mythicals like in Let's Go
@@humanpersonthing but there are some that are so cool like Marahadow! He could have been an awesome Pokémon to catch yourself, name, and use in battle. And Zeraora already looks like a Lucario Pokémon, give it a prevo and it’d fit into any team. Same with Zarude, but he could be Legendary instead of Mythical.
I’m surprised the light trio got so much little love compared to the rest of the trios. I rlly liked the two box art legendaries designs and with necrozmas lore and the epic fight with light necrozma, it is one of my favourite box art trios.
I agree, I freaking love their story and in battle. Solgaleo is my favourite legend and love Lunala too, definitely better designs that the gen 8 ones.
@@Tamo8 ONG. I did not want to put gen 8 down because like the newest gems tend to get unnecessary hate but I felt the light trio was better than the gen 8 trio in every way so seeing the gen 8 trio higher was a huge surprise. Tho I respect other peoples opinions.
sad we didn't get to see any of the weather legendary primal forms, or mewtwo's X and Y forms. would have been interested in seeing how those held up in the list as well.
Whether old or new Pokémon fan, you cannot deny how cool rayquaza is. For quite some time, it was my favourite Pokémon (started in gen 7). You cannot hate rayquaza’s design. Ray being the most voted legendary Pokémon in a poll makes a lot of sense
@@wolololer suicune in my opinion is superior to entei and raikou by a lot, like it’s not even close. I don’t really like raikou and entei and if it weren’t for suicune would be too 3 worst trios.
@@matthewlawlor4052 i see, to me suicune is nothing special, i only liked him when he 1st apeard in the anime, but besides that Entei and Raikou seems way better to me, they are both some of my favourites legendaryes of all time
I think that most of the people just got older and are adults by now that actually maybe didn't like arceus at first but now appreciate the special design, besides the increase through pkmn arceus
I think Arceus gets a big boost because of its lore (and comp viability but mainly its lore), I mean it's literally God. If I was in the pkmn universe guess which legendary would be my favorite just so I don't get smited... yea that'd right lol, If you knew God was real and was just chilling somewhere, you bet your ass, I'd be praying every night and talking about how sick he is.
I knew my favourite Legendaries, Groudon and Palkia, would get absolutely shafted (in terms of popularity) in their groups before watching this. But yet, it still hurts seeing it reconfirmed.
The Rayquaza-Kyogre-Groudon trio is the epitome of perfect legendaries in my opinion, while the majority of Pokemon from the newer generations unfortunately suck in terms of design.
I also participated in the Legendary Pokemon polls. And honestly, Giratina and Rayquaza were my all-time favourite legendaries. Good to see them on high tiers.
Tao Trio has always been my favorite and happy to see it getting recognition here but I feel like if they completed the story about the Original Dragon it would’ve been much more hyped up
Where do we vote in these polls & how do we know when or where to vote? I never know this information so I can't vote until after the results are finalized & it is too late to vote. As for gym leaders please respond to tell me if such a poll ever gets made because I don't want to miss it! It's so hard to choose a favorite gym leader for Kanto! Erika was so incredible in the manga, Sabrina was a really cool rival for Green & had an awesome backstory in the anime then even became a movie star in Gen 5. Blaine was really cool in the manga, Giovanni is Giovanni, Koga is the Ninja Master who joined the Elite 4, & does Blue Oak count? Whitney sucks, I mean seriously she has such an awful personality where she's only the Gym Leader because Pokemon Battling was trendy. How does a brat like that even become Gym Leader? Fawkner & Bugsy are likeable, although I get the feeling the choice for best Johto Gymleader will probably be a contest between Jasmine & Clair. I probably shouldn't spoil the Johto Manga although that could alter the results for a certain gymleader. Gen 3 I have trouble deciding again because of how high quality some of its gym leaders are. Gen 4 I think Candice & Volkner are my favorites with Candice essentially being very similar to me & Volkner is just awesome. Gen 5 my fav is either Cilan (he's the best thing about the Gen 5 Anime), Cheren, or Elesa. Gen 6 Gymleaders all felt kind of bland compared to prior generations. I'm not sure if Trial Captains count as Gym Leaders although Lana & Kiawe were such great characters, although for some reason I get the feeling Mallow will probably win. As for Gen 8 it's another generation where it's hard to choose.
Dialga and Giratina are my fav legendaries just bc of their designs b colors and their power of time and antimatter. Dont forget about their awesome battle themes.
Gen I Moltres either looks like a Fearow who has been left in the sun too long or a Ho-Oh that needs another half hour in the oven. That's likely why it ranks last among the legendary birds.
How tf is Celebi not higher tbh? It has a cool movie, a Time Travel Event with Giovanni and Silver and even the Event with Zoura in Black and White which also fits in with the Movie. It also looks super cute!
@@wetsocks2897 oh easy, edge > cute as confirmed by the poll. Also cultural differences, I’d love to see the same poll but from Japan and you’d quickly see some major differences
I was sorry to see the Regis do so poorly. I have very fond memories of tracking those three down through all those Braille puzzles and catching them. Nostalgia and my love for Hoenn would've propelled them higher for me lol. Thank you for the very fun video! Stay well out there everybody, and God be with you, friends. ✝️ :)
I love those poll-videos! Please make one about Gym-Leader/charakters, generations or types (maybe polls for each type and its Pokémon and one about types in general).
I didn’t think my opinions were that odd, but I disagreed with a lot of this haha. Entei and groudon being last in their trios, rayquaza being the only S rank, people not really liking the “pixie” mythicals, and people disliking the swords of justice (which I will never understand)? I would never have guessed most of that would be the case. Opinions are weird lol
I think the Swords of Justice were disliked because there weren't properly implemented in Black and White's plot. They were just there for the sake of having legendaries. The same with the forces of nature.
It comes from so many places is kind of the issue I feel. Some Pokemon probably have a negative association with them for different players. For instance, Terrakion was the face of Gen 5 power creep and so I'd rate them dead last in the trio even if I prefer the design to Cobalion. People probably disliked Celesteela for how boring it was in competitive. Things like that.
I’m honestly surprised how well alola did. All my friends hated it but I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a bit more on the wacky side of games but it was still enjoyable and fun especially with you being able to collect Zygarde and other Pokémon from the different portals (in ultra sun and moon).
Love seeing you incorporate research and data! As a professional researcher, might I suggest that you make some simple design changes to your charts? Like for the bar chart on what makes a good legendary, you can sort the chart from highest % to lowest % which would help draw our eyes to the most important factors first! You also don’t need to include how many people voted for each item (the N) if you’re showing the %, as long as you say up front how many people took your survey. As for use of color, the rankings of characters with a different color per legendary AND Color coding by tiers is a bit of a visual overload. I’d instead suggest using just one system for the colors (like the tier colors instead of every Pokémon a different color). I’m happy to help out with some redesigns for future videos if you like! Looking forward to more of these types of videos!
I loved this poll! Very fun and interesting to see the results. I'm saddened to see the lack of love for my Gen 3 Regis though. Nothing was more cryptic/exciting for me than deciphering the code and catching them. Also Groudon and Palkia are underrated.
I’m so glad that even after all these years, the Tower Duo and Mewtwo are still loved rather well. I’m also glad that the Aura Trio were well received. With all the recent Gen 6 bashing, I was sure people would dislike them.
Bruh, I'm shocked at how unpopular the Lake Trio are. You'd think that the PMD fandom would back them up, with them being the Time Gear guardians and all. :/
Interesting to see. I’m amazed that people like “too many” (my opinion) legendaries/mythicals in a generation. I feel it “takes” from them being special
Agreed. I personally feel that after the Diamond/Pearl games the number of legendaries available in the games became too big. After finishing the Pokémon league in Black/White I was going to catch the legendaries in the game, not knowing that besides the offline legendaries there were more than a handful available through online events and sorts. It really felt like I was catching them for the sake of it, not because of a great backstory or anything, which really took away the magic.
sword and shield even have, completly normal pokemon and call it legendary, like the ghost adn ice ponyta, the karate bear with an evolution line, the completly normal monkey that is a mythical for some reason, and the parasite that jumps on horses legendary Legendaries are suposed to be rare, not make half the pokedex of a region And im bafled how ppl actually like Ultra Beasts and Tapus
@@wolololer kubfu should not be a legendary. I like the ghost horse but yeah it's just a purple rapidash. Ultra beasts are ok I guess but I don't really want more. I don't like tapus. Been playing since Gen 1
After playing emerald and seeing all the backstory and plot put into the ancient trio seeing Rayquaza the legendary dragon on s tier alone is just satisfying
Importance in the anime is probably the most important thing I would say. Tapu Koko is the best example because of how relevant it is in the sun and moon anime.
That top 5 is really interesting. Rayquaza is definitely the most favourited and popular legendary (although I prefer darkrai). Giratina surprised me being that high but I’m actually glad about it even though I think dialga and Palkia are better. Yveltal is awesome but not the best
Something that may have hurt some of the really new legendaries is that they were only in DLCs aka behind a paywall that people unwilling to pay, busy or more casual about being a Pokemon fan nowadays don't even know them really
As a black and white fan (my first gen) glad to see it preformed pretty well ,although I was kinda sad that people didn’t really like latios and latias
me too bro , gen 5 has a special spot for me , starters did kind of suck atleast theyre definetly better then anything in 7 ,8 or 9 ... Zekrom was my first favorite pokemon then i saw rayquaza lol
so glad to finally see this video! with lugia being my favourite i’m glad to see it made A+ tier and i do agree with a lot of this video, but by far the most astounding thing for me are the forces of nature. I like the way you catch them i like their forms and apart from their shinies id say nothing really lets them down in my eyes
This is going to be a long comment but, as far as I can tell: Legendaries: They´re literal forces of nature that helped to shape or sustain the world and/or heroes for humanity/for the pokemon, or an entire region. And their presence in the world and influence in these aspects is quite acknowledged in the pokemon world. Mythical pokemon: They are not legendaries. However they're really powerful pokemon with unique abilities that are so uncommon to be seen that people in the pokemon world even doubts of their existence to some extend. Sometimes considered almost like minor deities for specific towns and cities in the past and their primary trait is that they´re literal representations of certain myths from the real world (like muses, aliens, time travelers, etc). Ultra beast: They´re basically pokemon from another dimension. Not legendaries. The share a lot of traits with legendaries (like being genderless, having scripted encounters and being part of the undiscovered group, etc) but this is due to their whole concept as extra dimensional unidentified creatures. Not for being the same thing. To explain this a bit more: The existence of the legendaries as the pokemon that shaped the world or saved an entire region is something acknowledged as a fact in the pokemon world. And they know about their existence. They´re either literal representations of forces of nature that shaped or sustain the world (like groudon, kyogre, yveltal, dialga, palkia, etc) or heroes of humanity or an entire region (like Zacian, Zamazenta, ho-oh, creselia, sylvally, the tapus, etc) or heroes for the pokemon (like mewtwo, cobalion, terrakion and virizion). Mythical pokemon are more literally in line with the concept of a myth like Celebi which is basically a time traveler, deoxys being basically an alien, magearna being basically the embodiment of the myth of the philosopher stone, genesect being a cyborg, hoopa being a genie in a lamp, meloetta being a muse, etc. They are all pretty powerful pokemon with the trait of having a pretty specific theme for their unique abilities associated to the myth they represent (instead of broad concepts as an entire force of nature) that are sometimes associated with specific places, towns or cities for the most part but in a minor scale, not the entire world or an entire region. And unlike legendaries, they´re so rare that people in the pokemon world even doubts of their existence. Which is the overall concept of the creatures from a myth (that´s why they´re mythical pokemon). You may be wondering: But, what about Arceus? Arceus falls more in line with the mythical pokemon. Being a representation of the theories about the origin of the universe, being seen only a few times in the entire history of the world and not being associated with a specific force of nature. It´s actually one of the reasons Silvally is a legendary instead as well. Silvally was based on what people new about Arceus in stories (a powerful pokemon able to change to any other type) but unlike Arceus, Silvally was specifically made to be a hero for the entire Alola region (to protect the region from the threat of the ultra beast). Which is what makes him a legendary pokemon. And about the ultrabeast: As I said, They´re basically pokemon from another dimension. Not legendaries. The share a lot of traits with legendaries (like being genderless, having scripted encounters and being part of the undiscovered group, etc) but this is due to their whole concept as extra dimensional unidentified creatures. You can look literally in everywhere and you'll see that they're not classified as legendaries at all (and I already explained the differences between these three concepts). You may be thinking that in some game files they're listed as legendaries. But I genuinely think that they only do this because they share a lot of similar traits to legendaries, so it´s just easier to code them like that. The game files also says that there's mega stones in SWSH and that's clearly not the case, so the classification from game files isn´t really a reliable source. They just do things like that while coding everything into the games. However the ultra dimension does have 3 ultra beast that are considered legendaries in their own world and even in the pokemon world (solgaleo, the literal representation of the sun, lunala the literal representation of the moon and necrozma the literal representation of light/refraction of light and of the theorical concept of a "black body" that absorbs light (in it's main form) and a super nova (in it's final form). And as you can see, those three do fall in line with the things that identify a legendary that I already mentioned (forces of nature/heroes of humanity/pokemon/an entire region).
I'm surprised Deoxys wasn't higher! I'm also surprised Giratina's origin form got more votes than the alternate form... The legged form just looks much more menacing!
WELL, the darkest day trio are the most underrated because the Third Legendary (Trio Master) is hated by fans. Because I Love 💕 ALL THREE OF THE POKÉMON of the darkest day trio. And they have the best designed of any Legendary Trio, I mean group of knightly wolves 🐺 facing against a gigantic skeleton dragon 🐉. How Badass right ? And the tao trio is the worst Legendary Trio because of their boring design and lore And the swords of justice are the worst Legendary Trio because of their Human faces and they haven’t got any forms, At Least the forces of nature/genies looks like genies 🧞♀️ and have new forms that looks more like an animal, and the aura trio could have been the best trio if Pokémon Z happened.
While me, as a player thinks legendaries have to be more complex because I pay for the games and what's the point of having special pokemon if they will look just slightly above average. Legendaries should be beautifully designed (but not all I guess, depends on what the Pokémon is) and complexity for me has a big impact on that, especially for the box art legends. I also know designing is hard af but I'd rather wait than play a half-assed game
@@chloropill6130 I understand that, but I don’t think any Pokémon are terribly designed, maybe Mr. Mime and Jynx, but they don’t matter, and the legendaries don’t make up the whole game, I prefer the playing to having a complicated AF legendary
@@pikazacian242 yeah, it really just boils down to preference but I think they should at least put a little more effort in everything. Pokémon brings in tons of cash and I think they shouldn't release mediocre games like maybe SwSh. I hope BDSP and Legends: Arceus will be good
I, personally, like the new gens. Then gen that got me into Pokemon was gen 7 with the Light trio and Guardian quartet. I love most of the ultra beasts too. I think that it all comes down to the experience that you got from a certain gen.
It is so surprising seeing the lake guardians so low. I thought everyone loved them. They haven’t left my party since I caught them they’re my favorite Pokémon of all time
My favorite legendaries are Yveltal, Arceus, Zeroara, Darkrai, Dusk Mane Necrozma. Arceus with a ghost plate was my absolute favorite, with Event move Shadow Force.
I somehow knew Rayquaza would take first place! I'm surprised Mewtwo wasn't higher. I loved how many legendaries there were in Gen 4, specifically because there was an abundance of really cool areas and events to explore. Legendaries are at their best when they're at the end of something spectacular. You have to go through a sort-of Zelda dungeon to get Articuno, there are memorable cutscenes leading up to Darkrai, Shaymin, and Deoxys, and you have to scale M. C. Escher's classic painting to get to Giratina. Pokemon like Volcanion, Zeraora, and Zarude are just items you were given as a promotional gift. You have to put all the strain you can on your brain to squeeze them into the story you're going through or have already finished. The key difference is immersion. Unless there's an interesting story, mystery, and/or adventure tied to it, a legendary/Mythical is better off just being another Pokemon in the wild. Pokemon doesn't need more legendaries. It needs more dungeons, puzzles, and exciting areas to bring the world to life!
Mewtwo wasn't higher... Although Mega Mewtwo Y is very offensive because it has 194 Special Attack but Mewtwo Y has 70 defense..I mean you can easily counter with Revenge killer pokemon like "Arceus Extreme speed, Yveltal Sucker punch, Mega Beedrill and etc." something like that
I’m 25. I just got back into pokemon now that I have a switch. I’m trying to dip my toes back into the lore and the world. And I’m realizing now that I checked out right at the end of Gen 3. It’s so wild to see how far it’s come since then…
I love the concept of these videos! The pixie mythicals are some of my personal favorite Pokémon, but I know that’s an unpopular opinion. I guess they’re just not as ‘cool’ as other legendaries, but still very cute
How the heck did zapdos lose to articuno. Like it feels so good to replace your crappy pidgiotto with a zapdos. I never understood why blue used a pidgey as the last fight.
Because Blue has a heart unlike you D: how can you call crappy my beloved Pidgeot I caught back at Route 1 and who has been with me basically the same amount of time as the starter D:
I always immensely enjoyed the cute cuddly "pixie" legendaries mew, jirachii, manaphy, and victini. Every one of them is special to me Marshadow looks like one I could have loved but I didn't spend time with the Lil guy
I love the Regis only because of their appearance in the Lucario movie. That movie was soooo good and they made great antagonists plus they were goofy but menacing at the same time
I definitely think you need to include a question asking when everybody's first game was, because I bet the gen 4/5 popularity is due to your channel being mostly in the age range for those
Gens 3 and 4 felt, not only were they the coolest in design, but story wise on top of power and what they represented is what makes these two honestly have the best legendaries.
Surprised by Yveltal. I think people might like it simply because it's reminiscent of other legendaries like Lugia and Zekrom. That's what drew me to buy Y version initially. Over time, though, I've come to like Xerneas a lot more. It's got swords for legs!
The few Mythicals that have good story with their design are fan favorites, so it’s not a good trend when they released 2 new mythicals without any story or lore.
I'm so surprised that cosmog had so little votes for it! Considering how cute it is, how much personality it has and the emotional bond you make with it. (Also calyrex being so low is also a travesty)
I think the problem with Calyrex (as well as the horses) is that people take the designs on their own and judge them that way. I don’t think that’s fair. They may look plain or unusual individually, but the rider forms complete them and elevate their concepts to something much more interesting.
You are talking about Nebby. Which is a fine charachter. And I quite like it, but when we are talking about a Cosmog as an pokemon species, it is rather boring
A number of people found Lillie annoying, so Cosmog got lowered in their esteem too. As for Calyrex, because it's from the DLC, not only did not everyone get that so they couldn't see the story but also for a nonzero amount of people the DLC being paid tainted it for us. That's my thoughts as to why they're so low, anyway.
This list lines up pretty much with what I thought 😃, although I don't have too many opinions on the newer gens apart from the designs as I haven't played those games
@@KhanMann66 You mean Sw/ Sh are forgettable. Gen 8 is Sw/Sh, the dlc, BdSp, and the impressive looking Legends Arceus. The thing that bothers me the most about Sw/Sh is the storyline. I’m fine with everything else. I’m a casual fan who loves Pokémon. I don’t care about graphics (even though they really aren’t that bad), or dexit.
@@blacknight6337 i feel like they just need to work as a trio in order to work in this instance, their whole thing was keeping the balance for the main legends. trugreen said they didnt do anything in the story but thats not true, they get captured and then are essential to beating platinum, i have no idea how he missed that.
10:08 kyurem white is tje best actually, until gen 8, KyuB was only in ou because it didnt have a good ice stab and had average speed so couldnt sweep, gen 8 fixed this by giving it ddance and icicle spear
Alola has some of my favorite legendaries. I LOVE the tapus. tapu bulu being my least fav. Type null + Silvally are amazing and a unique feature since theyve never had a pokemon that came from trying to recreate another (Arceus) Also the fact that you can have silvally hold any element type memory is amazing. The attacks it gets are great as well. Tri attack does damage tbh. And I LOVE cosmog, cosmoem, and Solgaleo and Lunala. Lunala comes second compared to Solgaleo though. Again on of the first legendaries i caught in the raid den. Solgaleo and i grew very close and his ability is amazing and can help substantially. Full metal body is one of the best abilities. But id say Mimikyus disguise ability tops it in my book
@@tylercruise7334 yeah but its not the same as in storyline / lore behind it. type null for galar was created after notes were stolen from alola. but in general the way it holds memories because it was supposed to be able to ‘shift’ is something mew / mewto doesnt have. Mew & Mewto are cool but at this point in the series + lore its played out and less cool as it was when i was a kid. Its unique because its not exactly the same as mew / mewto in terms of storyline. Yeah in general it’s similar, but deeper not quite.
I love seeing the love for Galarian Moltres, it's my favorite Pokémon ever made and I'm glad people share the opinion that it's amazing with me! Most of my fav legends are in A or A+ so pretty good overall I'd say
One thing you could do if you want to find/rank them by most preferred. Is to do a poll where people are presented with two random Legendaries (in this case) and they have to pick which one they prefer (for whatever reason in this case). At the end you'll have the data for which where picked over most the most times, and which where picked the least etc.
My opinion of Zarude has completely changed after the newest movie. I wonder if that would impact popularity at all. I always thought it looked weird/awkward in game, but after seeing it come to life in the movies, I absolutely love it. Personally it went from a D to an A for me. Did anyone else watch the movie and have their opinions changed as well?
Yeah, I was completely indifferent to Zarude. I didn't hate it, but I thought it was the most uninteresting and generic Mythical Pokemon, and of course the fact that it was given for free with no backstory or lore didn't help either. But seeing the movie, it when from a D tier Legendary, to a B+ Legendary. If it had an event in Sword and Shield like going to a jungle area to catch it, it would be an A tier Legendary.

Darkrai has always been my favorite pokemon and I like to see its getting the love it deserves.
Whoever designed Rayquaza must’ve known that their design was amazing. It’s so good to the point that I thought the mega form was kinda messy and not nearly as good as the original design with the symbols and the red tinges
Shiny rayquaza is even better 😩
@@Aaronn-je8cx agreed
I really dont like the long beardhair Mega-Rayquaza has, but otherwise I think its pretty cool
I'm with you except for the weird gum line Rayquaza has. Why bother making them pointed instead of actual teeth. That detail has weirded me out since I first seen Rayquaza.
The one who designed wobuffet has designed rayquaza
It's kinda terrifying)
Actually, ORAS made alternate universes kinda canon so if you want to be a nerd about it, having two of the same "ACTUALLY only one exists" legendary can be arguably justified in lore.
Yeah true what happened to decent shiny colours...
Palkia and Dialga looked terrible shiny.

I think what elevates Gen 4 above the rest is not only did they have Pokemon Platinum, a game with the best lore I've seen in a Pokemon series, but they also had Explorers of the Sky. I fell in love with Darkrai in that game, if anyone's played it, they know exactly what I'm talking about
Ho-oh will always be my favorite legendary. Its just so majestic and I never seen it be caught or in a battle. Its just too strong imo.
This really shows how important story relevance is for the legendaries
Yeah, since Gen 8 didn't really had a story until the final act and of course it was poorly executed.

Same , I can't believe blue fish beat Groudon and a metal horse with a weird head beat Palkia .
I have to say I'm disappointed Palkia is so low, I think he is really cool, and looks really cool
I don't really like palkia to be honest, but...look how they massacred my boy groudon
I mean, Palkia is cool and the role it played in the manga is awesome but it just can't match up to the other gen 4 legends.
The Rayquaza-Kyogre-Groudon trio is the epitome of perfect legendaries in my opinion, while the majority of Pokemon from the newer generations unfortunately suck in terms of design.
4:56 Not to mention the Trio looks so cool together, being Red Blue and Green.

I would never have guessed most of that would be the case. Opinions are weird lol
I love the Lake Guardians. (All three place in my top 50 favorite Pokémon)
Entei is better then suicune
Yeah I disagreed with a bunch of these, Rayquaza is one of my least favorite for example.

Agreed. I personally feel that after the Diamond/Pearl games the number of legendaries available in the games became too big. After finishing the Pokémon league in Black/White I was going to catch the legendaries in the game, not knowing that besides the offline legendaries there were more than a handful available through online events and sorts. This is going to be a long comment but, as far as I can tell:
Legendaries: They´re literal forces of nature that helped to shape or sustain the world and/or heroes for humanity/for the pokemon, or an entire region.
To explain this a bit more:
The existence of the legendaries as the pokemon that shaped the world or saved an entire region is something acknowledged as a fact in the pokemon world.
In summary: legendary - come out to help people
Mythical - magical beings
Ultra beasts - *a l i e n*
I really liked your explanitation!
I agree with your explanation I just think it was a little under exaggerated to say some mythicals are “minor deities” when a lot are major

While me, as a player thinks legendaries have to be more complex because I pay for the games and what's the point of having special pokemon if they will look just slightly above average.
Although Mega Mewtwo Y is very offensive because it has 194 Special Attack but Mewtwo Y has 70 defense..I mean you can easily counter with Revenge killer pokemon like "Arceus Extreme speed, Yveltal Sucker punch, Mega Beedrill and etc." something like that
But what about Calyrex? It has lore, story, interaction. But still wasnt enough...
@@AndersonMallony-EricCF naw fam at the end of the day people only like "cool" designs and shit on anything new
I don't know if it's the reason other people have, but personally I think Articuno has a cleaner looking design.
Because articuno has a 4x weakness to rock
Idk Articuno's design is better imo
Because Blue has a heart unlike you D: how can you call crappy my beloved Pidgeot I caught back at Route 1 and who has been with me basically the same amount of time as the starter D:
I was also confused. Zapdos is clearly the coolest of them.
I am shocked to see that the creation trio gained more popularity than the weather trio but I am happy as a sihhoh fan
I always immensely enjoyed the cute cuddly "pixie" legendaries mew, jirachii, manaphy, and victini. Every one of them is special to me
Marshadow looks like one I could have loved but I didn't spend time with the Lil guy
Celebi deserves an honorable mention for cute “pixie” type legendary Pokémon as well!
I love the Regis only because of their appearance in the Lucario movie. That movie was soooo good and they made great antagonists plus they were goofy but menacing at the same time
Ong
I definitely think you need to include a question asking when everybody's first game was, because I bet the gen 4/5 popularity is due to your channel being mostly in the age range for those
Im surprised Giratina didn't make it to S, like sure it was super close but I expected it to sit alongside Rayquaza as the best Masters of their trio
Well Hoopa has a research story in Pokemon go that is still ongoing now
Entei is my favourite Johto legendary (other than Ho-Oh) and he was the lowest ranking of the trio
Same
I thought it was going to top the trio because of the movie
Gens 3 and 4 felt, not only were they the coolest in design, but story wise on top of power and what they represented is what makes these two honestly have the best legendaries.
i've never seen such an in-depth analysis of data on youtube of all places before
Surprised by Yveltal.
Calyrex was so well implemented in game
It's because it looks like broccoli
2 years and 5 months since this came out, and i am dying for more content like this! another time @Truegreen7 ?
I love your poll videos, they are amazing! A poll on the soundtracks of each generation would be awesome as well
I hate trumpets
What I get from this is that Pokefans really loves some Edgy stuff lol
Nah, if that was true then eternatus would be higher
No it just means that a legendary can be iconic if the story is well written. Eternatus is forgettable because gen 8 is forgettable.
@@KhanMann66 Eternatus looks like something from Bakugan, not pokemon
@@KhanMann66 You mean Sw/ Sh are forgettable.
Gen 8 is Sw/Sh, the dlc, BdSp, and the impressive looking Legends Arceus.
The thing that bothers me the most about Sw/Sh is the storyline.
I’m fine with everything else.
I’m a casual fan who loves Pokémon. I don’t care about graphics (even though they really aren’t that bad), or dexit.
Yeah lmao...
Manaphy should be higher, and personally I really like the Lake Trio.
The concept is good but the designs and typings are too similar to make them individually unique enough
@@blacknight6337 i feel like they just need to work as a trio in order to work in this instance, their whole thing was keeping the balance for the main legends. trugreen said they didnt do anything in the story but thats not true, they get captured and then are essential to beating platinum, i have no idea how he missed that.
They are trash
Nearly all of them are forgettable. Only Azelf is more popular due to its high sp.atk.
I really like the lake trio too but also no…manaphy is trash lol
10:08
kyurem white is tje best actually, until gen 8, KyuB was only in ou because it didnt have a good ice stab and had average speed so couldnt sweep, gen 8 fixed this by giving it ddance and icicle spear
All my favorite Pokémon were in the F and D list lol, I love the mythical fairy ones
Catching Lugia in SoulSilver was as memorable as playing Yellow for the first time when I was little
Alola has some of my favorite legendaries.
Ok. Good
were they not trying to recreate mew with mewtwo?
@@tylercruise7334 yeah but its not the same as in storyline / lore behind it. type null for galar was created after notes were stolen from alola. but in general the way it holds memories because it was supposed to be able to ‘shift’ is something mew / mewto doesnt have. Mew & Mewto are cool but at this point in the series + lore its played out and less cool as it was when i was a kid. Its unique because its not exactly the same as mew / mewto in terms of storyline. Yeah in general it’s similar, but deeper not quite.
@@RobloxGuardian ah thanks roblox guardian !
Silvamly not really that good competively.
Bro... MEWTWO will always be an insane legendary! I'd put it in S
I love seeing the love for Galarian Moltres, it's my favorite Pokémon ever made and I'm glad people share the opinion that it's amazing with me! Most of my fav legends are in A or A+ so pretty good overall I'd say
Sounds to me like it’s popular due to nostalgia not because of its own design.
One thing you could do if you want to find/rank them by most preferred. Is to do a poll where people are presented with two random Legendaries (in this case) and they have to pick which one they prefer (for whatever reason in this case). At the end you'll have the data for which where picked over most the most times, and which where picked the least etc.
pokemon black was my first pokemon and zekrom is just pure gold. I love the design and gen 5 is defo my fav gen
Yeah I’m the exact same actually, that usually happens to me when I see the Mythicals in the anime, I just wish they were easier to obtain in game
His name is YAVELTAL!
I get the reference
The newer games have more critics cause it newer and the older gens with nostalgic memories get less criticism
And because most newer Pokemon suck in terms of design...
@@stielimusterman3066 design is up to the person there some ugly old pokemon as well new ones its up ones own views
Gen 4 main Legendaries are all in my Top 10. Just love their designs and what they represent
