These are two of my favorite Hank Jr songs. Other favs are Country Boy Can Survive, All My Rowdy Friends and Born to Boogie. I have the funniest memory associated with Family Tradition though. When I was in college I was in marching band and we went to Dublin Ireland to march in the New Years Day parade. New Years Eve, all 300+ of us went to a club and had requested Family Tradition. At the chorus, we did the reply lines quite loudly and drunkenly. The looks on the Irish locals faces were priceless. Family traditions include family dinners on the weekends and sharing a few drinks with my dad. As far as getting stoned, that hasn't been one of his traditions for years now, but it has been one of mine since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
I have been to a couple clubs and every time they played this, it was sort of audience participation. "Hank, why do ya drink, to get drunk, Hank why do you roll smoke, to get stoned, why must you live like the songs that you wrote, and some comeback there too but I can't remember what it was. Great reactions as always L. Just a couple bits of info for you. Hank is a country rocker but he is also kind of old school in some ways. If you go back far enough in country music you will see that back in the day when a country song mentions getting stoned, they are talking about drinking. Now plenty of them were doing other things too, but you didn't write or sing about it. I can remember my Dad's generation always saying stoned when they meant drunk too. Also Hank had a bad fall some years back. He was doing some climbing with a friend and his friends young son. The ground gave out under Hank and he fell over 400 feet down a mountain. Broke near everything he had. Multiple skull fractures and more. Died a few times in surgery I believe. Had to rebuild his face etc. He has worn a beard ever since. The guy has been through a lot. He also I believe lost his 27 yr old daughter in a car wreck earlier this year. His dad died when Jr was less than 5 if I remember right. Family has had their share of tragedy. Lots of history in his songs. You and the fam stay safe!!!

Family traditions include family dinners on the weekends and sharing a few drinks with my dad. As far as getting stoned, that hasn't been one of his traditions for years now, but it has been one of mine since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Please Do Hank Williams Jr “od’d in Denver” and “Blues Man” !!!
Deep cut hank is the best hank!
Hi, prettyface, i know this is like a dream to you.Thank you for being a fan
I have been to a couple clubs and every time they played this, it was sort of audience participation. "Hank, why do ya drink, to get drunk, Hank why do you roll smoke, to get stoned, why must you live like the songs that you wrote, and some comeback there too but I can't remember what it was. Good party song. Love your reaction to it.
That be his Daddy that sang that ... lmfo.... as long as you’re pandering..check out some Waylon , Willie, not to mention David Allen Coe amongst others, love your channel , but if you really listen you’ll get all of it
Great reactions as always L.
Hank Williams jr born to boogie and Dixie on my mind
HANK SR. SANG I'M SO LONESOME I COULD CRY.
