Totally agree. I got these shoes a while back, but don't really wear them that much anymore b/c of the chunck and weight. Great points!

Well, I guess they'd be perfect for a guy like me who still wears Jordans 1s and has a pair of new balance 550's and a bunch of ultraboost with a pair of vibrams

This video came at a perfect time, because I've debating between this shoe and the feelgrounds courtside for the past few days. My only worry with the feelgrounds is that they look a bit more narrow in the toe box compared to the barebarics. I don't think my pinky toes would be pinched, but it definitely looks like they'd at least be touching the sides of the feelgrounds. I also like the beige color from the zing more. I heard that feelgrounds are going to be coming out with a canvas version of the courtside, I think I'll hold off until then.

I have only tried 3 barefoot shoe brands. I tried splay, Jim green and xero. In the order of my favorite to least favorite would be Jim green, splay and xero. Xero are good and I like them they are just narrow in the middle of the foot causing some minor discomfort. The splay have that too but not as bad. So both of those need to be wider in the middle of the shoe, the part that cobblers call the waist of the shoe. Then again 90% of shoes are too narrow in the middle. Jim green being one of the few that are just right when it comes to width.

I think these are pretty good zero drop skate shoes.
I intend to wear them as my next skate shoes when my current one wears down.

I have to agree. I recently picked up a pair of Barebarics Kudos sneakers and I noticed basically the same thing. They look great, and they are wide in the toe box, have a cork insole, so they feel good without socks....but I never wear them because I don't like how I move in them or the weight.
I'm tempted to try either the Origo sneakers (Retro or Everyday models) or Be Lenka Champs the next time around. For now, its summer and I am living in sandals.

I bought barebarics kudos as my first barefoot shoe since i wanted something that looked nice to wear everyday and used them for a year straight for pretty much everything. I still like them but honestly right now i feel very similar, they are not as light as i would like, the flexibility is good, but not the best and i enjoy walking in vapor glove 4s a lot more due to the ground feel. Coming from regular shoes they felt amazing and i don't regret buying them, but after a year wearing barefoot/minimalist i crave somthing that feels as close to barefoot as possible (hence i bought sandals since it's getting hotter and hotter here in poland)

I think the brand is meant to make transitional shoes for people who don't want to feel every stone but love the roomy toebox.

I think the problem lies in the usage of the word:
    'barefoot'
I'v had this discussion also with friends, when do you call it 'barefoot'?
    Under what stack height?
In my opinion; zero drop + low stack height + good ground feel + wide toebox + no arch support = barefoot
Are my 20 mm stack height Topos barefoot? I sure feel more from the ground then on my Meindls?
What about Altra's Lone Peak with 25 mm stack height? Pretty flexible, lots of toe space, no arch support, zero drop.
My freet Flex are really barefoot if you ask me. I think they have my complete list of 'barefoot shoe' characteristics.
So maybe we should make - and use - other categories?
    Like the existing 'minimalist'.
Softstar calls their shoes 'minimal' instead of barefoot, but they are very barefoot to me.
I think the young market doesn't agree yet on what to call the different styles and thicknesses.
'Wide shoes' tend to be wide fore the forefoot, but do not necessarily offer space for the toes to splay and move around.
    What about 'natural footwear'?
Maybe someone big shoe brand need to take the first step here? Come up with some different names for different styles, sure will make the searching for a specific shoe a lot easier. I know people who are specifically looking for a wide toebox, but not for zero (or low) drop. Not so easy to find.
Anyway, the Zings are sold as barefoot, but it seems that you don't agree, what should they call the shoe otherwise, if not 'normal'. (there is not so much information on their website about weight and stack height I saw).

The point of the shoe is to be the perfect compromise. I love belenka footware because it strikes the perfect balance of being as close to a normal shoe as possible in so many ways, just better and healthier. I do have 3 pairs of real barefoot shoes, but day to day I wear the belenkas to go to the office, to the mall etc. The sole is just thick enough that you can comfortably wear them on concrete and other hard surfaces without fatique. I can't say this about true barefoot shoes.
The toebox is nice and roomy so that your toes don't chafe hard. (I have really wide feet, 27.5 cm long and 11.5 cm wide- like a Neanderthal) but the least amount of chafing of any other shoe experienced.
I have the Nevada boots, the Elite low cuts (love them) and the Barebarics Apollo (also love them)
The Elite and Champ are the closest to a real barefoot shoe but they are made of leather so it's still not really as flexible as a true barefoot shoe. The Apollo and Zings are real sneakers with a chunky but still flexible sole and a wide toebox.
I simply love them and am ordering my 4th pair, the Zing Frost as it is getting really cold now in November. I tried selling my older shoes, but couldn't so donated them and I will not look back to regular shoes.
The quality is outstanding and the customer support is also good. I haven't had the need to resole them yet, but my Elites are getting there and I am sure this will turn out just fine.

Hey man I have the exact same feet measurements as you my Neanderthal brother ;) do the belenkas squeeze your toes at all? And which size did you order? Also what are the true barefoot shoes you have. Thanks would really help to know if these are going to be comfortable or squeeze my feet before I spend 200 bucks lol

@johnnyjames6283 hey man, I'm glad you read my novel of a review 🤣
Honestly I am between sizes EU 43 and EU 44. The difference between them is quite substantial. At first I bought the 43 size but they were stiff and a little tight lengthwise. If I wear light socks and trim my nails they are good. But sometimes (most times) i wear sport socks which are a little thicker and more absorbent. Then I felt them being tight. However, this was my first pair, the Elites. After about 2 weeks of wearing them they stretched and I bearly noticed their tightness. And when they are tight, I take out the insole and then they are perfect. However, the 44 size are a little long so you don't have the perfect stability when wearing them and then they stretch out additionally.
So it's about personal preference. I think my recommendation would be to go 43 for leather and 44 for canvas/artificial material shoes. (Only if you go for winter shoes, then definitely size up because of the insulating material)
I got my Zing Frosts and they are awesome. They are a 44 and perfect. I only wear this shoe exclusively for 2 months now, I was never cold in them, but beware of ice as they are quite slippery on it. Not on snow, but specifically ice!
      Hope this helps!
      P.s.
Don't pay full price for them, they often have discounts / sales (black friday was amazing).
Another pro tip, try to find them second hand. Some people don't like the barefoot shoes after they try them and want to sell them. That's how ilI got my Nevada boots.

@@Itreallydoesnotmatter-p9o hey I really appreciate the feedback!! I’m wondering if the width is wide enough that you can splay your toes a little bit or at least have enough room to not rub the sides of the shoe/have your big toe pushed inward or is it kind of a little bit tight and you just like them because it’s better than most shoes? Thanks a lot ! Also if youre looking just for a casual shoe you should check out drifter leather they make custom fitted handmade shoes for less than 200 bucks, They’re pretty good quality my last pair lasted me over a year and I wore them everyday and hiked with them

  • @filiprozehnal7254

Well I bought them and for me it's perfect. Wide, zero drop and yes a bit more cushioning than my other barefoot shoes for ex. Vivobarefoot primus lite or Feelgrounds.
But for me it's better cause it is more comfortable to walk on concrete whole day, also if it's wet or raining outside these shoes just handle it much better than other barefoot shoes. Even though being in barefoot for 3 years I feel like the other barefoot shoes are not so practical. I need to take other than my barefoot shoes if I go on a big hike, go wash my car, working manually etc. With these shoes I do not care, they work everywhere.
Also in terms of style it's more acceptable than other barefoot shoes so if I'm somewhere where it's needed (business, university) I don't look as weird as in other barefoot shoes.

Vivobarefoot's Asana model is a great alternative where they aim for a more sneaker look on the upper without the chunk and still keeps the sole as is.
There's plenty of barefoot companies that does the sneaker look, but no idea how they feel as i havent tried them. But i see Splay, Ohne, Origo follow the trend.

How would you not heel strike while walking though...? Personally I love my pai just because they don't look like 16th century peasants shoes, they just look like trainers, but they're nice and wide, zero drop, and flexible enough. The ground feel is only really a consideration for me when I'm running and obviously you'd be daft to run in these.

I agree and at the same time, i say, thats why i love them. You must see, zero drop and healthy foot shaped is still very good in the longterm and the more flexible shoes like vivobarefoots dont last long and are bad in mechanics for urban areas, all cities with asphalt or strengths and stability standing in u bahn and busses. Barefootshoes make only sense, when you really walk outside in mudd, grass, climb, do sport and run outside of everyday asphalt.
I had over 6 pairs now, i wear belenka winter boots and still have vivo trail and feelgrounds petrol. In pictures and while walking, thin and too flexible soles dont look good and walking on asphalt for like 5 km hurts at some point.
So i say, for muscles and preprioception they are not the best, but in masses, on stairs and big cities and modern acceptance to spread style and function, they are great. You just need to know, for what purpose you seek shoes.
Running sandals like luna are maybe for running and climbing outdoors in summer better. I see people with like 0,3 mm sole in city and it seldom looks great with elegant clothes, in masses, with blazer or dress. Soft soles on a hard ground is actually unnatural, because our feet are still hard and have stability too.

I used to wear big shoes, chunky skater shoes etc. Now I am disappointed when something is bigger than Vivos. 🤣
PS: Heel striking is only bad when you're running. Walking heel striking is preferable.
