I had a yellow 72 short bed in 1988. It was originally a slant 6 car. I got it with a 318 with 360 heads, 340 cam and intake. I put a 1978 front clip on it, and I used the disk brake spindles of that truck as well. I took the ignition out of a station wagon at the scrapyard for it. And lastly the rear end came out of a 1968. It was a screamer till 100 mph. I was a 19 yo in the Navy. Memories!

We had a 77 Plymouth Volare, same color as yours except ours was all the buckskin color. It was the perfect daily grocery getter. 225 slant six, automatic, power steering, power breaks and air conditioning. Bench seats with the real artificial leather, hand crank windows, and am radio. It was the neighbor lady's car. I'd always been close to her, did a lot of work around her place growing up. After she'd had a couple strokes and couldn't drive anymore she gave me the car. She bought it new, I received it in 1985 with 3500 miles. It has to be in the top three favorite cars I've owned, even more special to me as it was from a really nice lady I'll never forget.

We had a 78 Vollari. it was one of the worst cars ever made. Especially, because it replaced the valiant, which we also had, and which was unkillable, except when my dad forgot to put oil in it for a prolonged period of time.
One notable incident I remember was when the Vollari’s hood latch failed, while we were on the Freeway on a bridge over the St. Lawrence river and the hood flew open completely obscuring the road. Good times

Remember one thing with old Mopar automatics - if they've been sitting, pop the transmission into neutral so the front pump starts up. The front pump doesn't operate in park, so the fluid doesn't move and won't pressurize the internals. Thus, when you go from park to reverse or drive...it's hard on the tranny

For some reason, I've always liked the sound of an old Mopar starter. Every time I hear one, I think back to the 1973 Dodge B100 my grandpa owned when I was a kid.
I'm currently the proud owner of a 1977 Dodge B300 dually RV (360 V8, 2bbl, A727, 63K on the clock) and I'm in the process of getting it back on the road as a flatbed tow rig. It's going to be a tribute vehicle (copying the aforementioned 73's paint scheme on the sheet metal part) to my late grandpa when I get it all fixed up.

my first car was a 1979 Dodge Aspen 2 door with a super six slant in it and it would start every morning no matter how cold like your truck started but it would take a few more cranks over but once she fired up it would sit and run. That car was the best car I have owned that would fire up so easy in the cold temps and was like the car loved it.

hey dylan, life hack from the northerners : use a fine bristle shop broom to get the snow off, might be a little hard on the paint but beats shoving it off with your hands. try and get it to run on as few pumps as possible (my cars at 10 to -20 take 1-3 pumps) and if it doesnt run wide open throttle to clear out the gas. washing out the cylinders is real hard on em

The first dependable car I ever owned was a '77 Volare it was a blue 4-door with a 225 \6 with the 2bbl - SUPER SIX option that came backed by a 727 automatic - that car was tuff even though it had the grill and radiator busted when I bought in for $125 cash at the salvage yard. I just happened to have a replacement radiator from a Aspen that bolted right in.

Hey Dylan! Love your channel. I have watched every video for years. It makes me profoundly sad to see a lot of your cars just sitting in a field, especially like your short bed Dodge (baby blue) truck that you spent so much effort on to make it nice. If I may..... Would you consider some constructive criticism? Maybe sell off some of those project cars? Whatever you keep, take each one and make it a project and make them somewhat nice and then sell or donate them?? Maybe fewer cars on the channel, and do more with each car. Turn them into something truly usable and then maybe sell them?Maybe at least put in a gravel or concrete parking area to store your cars on?
And for some of the cars you truly love and will keep (the blue Dart, The challenger you rebuilt, your old truck, etc...) - give them a special parking place by your shop and take turns driving them weekly so they stay in circulation and don't sit and deteriorate. Just want to say thanks for all the automotive education and entertainment over the years

My dad had a black lwb with a 360 like the blue one you have it had wide tires on the back but the drivers side rear went flat and my younger brother being a teenager & it was a Friday afternoon wanted to use the truck to go running around. About 11:pm he pulls back in with a knocking noise coming out from under the truck. So me and my dad stepped out to investigate, soon as the hood was opened I knew but I didn't say a word my dad said how did you break the engine monts? My brother said I was just driving it and it did that. My dad said where were you at when it happened? He said I was on this gravel road, so we all jumped in the '71 Demon and my dad told my brother to take him to the exact spot it happened. I went along, I figured this was going to be good. Sure enough my brother directed us to the gravel road that just so happened to have a white concrete bridge on it with one wide black mark and one skinny black mark almost all the way across the bridge.
    Good times

Mr Dylan Mr Dylan, I drive old cars everyday. The gas is so volatile today it evaporates out of the carb overnight. If it hasn't been up graded to/ electric fuell pump, you should drop a little fresh CLEAN fuel into the top of the carb into the fuel bowel thru the vent to save the battery, starter & alternator. I do it everyday. Also the cold start for carbs was 1 pump shot or 2 if really cold, then hold gaspedal 1/3 down. I worked in emissions back in the day. Pumping the pedal is not the same as choke. Choke atomizes the gas, pumping the pedal puddles it. Puddled fuel doesn't evaporate until high manifold vacuum unless you pump it while cranking. Even then pumping is very marginal. ben/ michigan

Jeep has run all week, TN weather is wild in 2024! However, The Shadow hasnt been started for a couple of weeks or more. Its too cold for me to stay out there and run it for long. Ps. I know you do know to add HEET or some other product to cars that sit to prevent gas line freezing. I hope to see more with that Shoebox in the future! A lowering kit, white walls, disc brakes and a 302 swap would make it a neat little hot rod

The thing that kinda cracks me up about these channels, is it is supposed to be about saving cars, but in reality, it's just moving cars from one person's yard, to another person's yard. I mean they still end up sitting outside just in a different location. Still fun to fun to watch. Just funny is all....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wouldn't all like to see that Mustang II go through an el cheapo scrub, sand and body-work?? Then a paint and Cobra graphic put on it ? Could be McCool!

Just because you can start it, does not mean you should start it. Pro tip, from the land of cracked blocks in northern MN. 😆

Dylan, great cars and projects you have! I'd like to see an 80s Volvo 740 with quad headlights on your channel sometime if you ever get your hands on one.

Hey Dylan great videos! Heres a little snow removal tip for ya... Next time you have snow on the hood like that... lift it about 6" to 8" and drop it, reopen the hood and all the snow and ice will just slide right off.

@@DylanMcCoolVideo Thats even more of the reason to do that. Did you ever take a cold Hershey's bar and slam it on a table before opening it? Trust me I'm a Michigan man. I wouldn't steer you wrong. Love the videos and I look forward to more of them. Even tho im a Ford guy at heart I do appreciate a good build no matter what the brand. I'm 64 and grew up around Hot Rods in the late 60's thru the 70's and I really appreciate the younger generation preserving these old classic cars.
Im the original owner of a 78 King Cobra with 37,000 miles thats been sitting since 1988 but life got in the way many times (long story) and now that I have the time I don't have a place or the $ to finish it off. Thanks for your videos its a real inspiration and it brings back memories of when I was doing the same things back then but im getting to old to roll around on the ground in the cold these days. God Bless and keep up the good work and videos.

53:30 Spray a product called Wet and Forget on the vehicle and it will stop that algae type growth . It just like it says spray it and walk away :give it a little time to work
