I really hope you all enjoy the Power Wagon Rescue!! 😃 I wanted to give a bit more background. I was told the truck was purchased from a neighbor. He was asked to drive it over and park it in, what was then, the front yard. We found some pieces of an old For Sale sign that coincide with this. With nearly 100 other vehicles on this property (including the Galaxie XL), I suppose one could justify not driving it again. Many of the dents, not from current tree growth, appear to be from being hit while logging the land in the past. Sadly easy to get to items (bumper, radiator, tailgate) have been picked off by passerby’s. We’re really excited for this one and to take it to the next step! Definitely need to do some trailing!

Great job getting it running. My first vehicle was a '77 318 2 Barrell van and that motor looked very familiar as I replaced the alternator, water pump, timing chain, lifters, starter while I had it but so hard to believe I was only 19 -20 yrs old when I done all that. I had a glass pack on mine sounded sooo good. I wouldn't have the patience to do all that nowa days. I also had put Direct connection chrome valve covers on mine to fancy it up a bit.

Hello From Kentucky. Back when I started at the equipment repair facility with the highway department in 1991, The crew that sprayed the highway right of way had two of the 3/4 ton Dodge Power Wagons that would go anywhere I believe. I know those trucks had V8 engines and I believe the 4 speed manual transmissions as well as the 4wd shifter next to the gearshift. Those were the days before the 4wd trucks were so plentiful in which the vast majority of the pickup trucks were the 1/2 ton 2wd Dodge trucks with the Slant 6 inline engines and mostly automatic transmissions although we did have a few with the 4 speed transmissions. The government fleet vehicles as a rule were extremely “Plain Jane” with pretty much just the heater and that was pretty much it.

Watched many videos like this but never thought about an important item needed until it was mentioned: 🔑
There’s something like a ‘66 Dodge Dart parked behind the large shed in the backyard of the house I’ve been renting since July. No glass (all broken) more rust than paint and can’t get to the front for all the brambles.
Never thought about looking for a key, pretty sure the owners tossed it or have it in a dusty jar somewhere. Sure you can jump these heaps, but having an ignition key saves a lot of extra work.

A tip on dodges like this is the transmission pumps don't pump in park, that's why it didn't blow fluid everywhere running without the cooler hooked up. Id recommend idling in neutral for a few minutes. That's why it wouldn't move when you first went from park to gear.

Glad you guys saved that dodge, it needs some help but it’s definitely worth fixing back up as solid as it is. They’re great old trucks I’ve had multiple old dodge trucks, and one was a 76 power wagon with a 360/granny gear 3 speed and 4.10’s. That thing would pull anything and go anywhere to boot, but rust wasn’t its friend. That short bed looks pretty solid honestly,I’d pull out some dents and fix the brakes and usual issues from sitting a long time and fix it up a lil at a time. Keep up the great work guys.
