I ordered one exactly like this one to clear a tpms light on my 2009 Nissan Murano that’s been on for couple of months, I just received it today , tried this method and worked for me. Prior to that I have tried the different tire pressure method and didn’t work. So glad I gave this a shot, so thank you for posting this video....
Just an update: YOUR method and YOUR suggested $8 tool worked. When everything and hours and hours attempted and failed to complete learn mode. So thank you!
Stoked to hear that!
Outstanding!! I bought the same TPMS tool and couldn't get it to work until I watched your video.. Oddly I did everything the same except waiting a minute after getting it in relearn mode. This time after your video I put it in relearn and as I was watching my clock the check engine light flashed a couple times right at the minute mark- Jumped out with the tool and Bam! Done! TPMS light out! My 2015 Frontier flashers go off at every sensor relearn. Thx a bunch!
Thanks for the tip. My light was on solid and I pressured my tires to 35 psi and used the tool as demonstrated and the light went out. This was on a 2004 Infiniti g-35 coupe. thanks again.
This video was excellent, right up until the point I discovered my new wheels don't have TPMS installed :-)
Work like a charm on my 2008 Nissan Xterra SE when the tire shop couldn't get it to reset at all even with fancy scan equipment your video was very helpful thank you.
Thanks! This was the correct procedure and I had watched several videos that gave incorrect detail as you said. I appreciate your time to make the video. :-)
Worked perfectly on Fx 35 2007 model infinit
Thanks a lot
It works. I did it on my 06 350Z with some sensors I bought online and programmed them on my Work wheels
Deerrp Derp how I need some help for my 350
This process worked perfect on my 2007 Nissan Frontier. Thanks for making it plain.
Paper clip and taps worked on my 2011 Nissan Maxima sv- added some new rims with new schrader tpms sensors- no need for that sensor activation tool, my research found the tires need 3lbs difference - took a couple of tries
Thanks, many of the other videos don't tell you the tire sequence, or if you needed to go through the grounding process for each tire. Bought the tool & it worked for me :)
Glad it helped
Thank you, that was short and to the point. Great information and job!
Worked perfectly when I replaced the low batter on my 05 Pathfinder
Ok thanks for all your help!!! and I went ahead and ordered one . and I am now waiting on it to come in the mail so I can give it a try . And thanks for the video you really did a great job making it . So you should keep your car diys going really helpful and great to watch 👍🏻
Barely Legal Tattoo did it work??
Barely Legal Tattoo Did it work or not?
Worked like a charm, thanks. Went they so much with this system and all it took was 2 minutes and a $16 took. Crazy 😜
Very helpful, thank you. Works on 2012 pathfinder. Hazard lights even flash to indicate a successful transmitter recognition. No more driving around trying to set them the hard way.
T
Worked just as you showed on my 2007 Frontier
Thank you so much, it worked like a charm for my 350Z...
Hey Joe, was your TPMS wire under the steering wheel or on the passenger side?
It's under the passenger side@@SalamiTommi
woman ! you rock, im a auto technician ! so this is not difficult for me to understand, but for people who dont know, it will be a little difficult, i wouldn't recommande somone who doesn't have a little knowledge, i wouldn't do it your way, but your amazing !
If you read the information on the actual tool it says it works with 315 or 433mhz. If your tpms is made to operate in the that range then it shouldn’t be an issue and the RF signal from the tool should be able to reach the sensor without having to hold it right on top of it, it should work like any other remote, like your garage door opener.
This works on a 2004 Murano. Thanks.
This video help me 6 years ago on my pathfinder 12’ now I’m watching it again because I’m getting new wheels 🛞
Thanks a lot again 👍🏻
Cool Thx !! Looks like a super nice X Terra.
Hey, why should I listen to a girl? 😄😄😄😄😄
Kidding, of course! You know your stuff! 👍👍👍
100k on my '08 Coupe and light was reset by a shop but came back a day later. Probably batteries in the sending units. I used the black electrical tape trick and monitor my pressures. Indirect TPMS systems (not ours, which are direct...they use a Xmitter) use the ABS wheel on each corner to monitor slight differences in the tire diameter as pressure changes. Why did I mention that? I dunno 😄😄😄.
I'll do,a video later to show how to measure, cut and apply a piece of electrical tape over the TPMS lamp. I'll try to keep it under 10 minutes 😄😄😄.
Thanks again!
Amanda, the factory shop manual for my 2010 Murano describes two different procedures: 1) Sensor Activaton; 2) Sensor Registration. It appears, the procedure you describe accomplishes activation and registration? Also, there is no grounding wire on my 2010 Murano; it is present, as you described on my 2007 Murano.
Ronald Craft
Yes, I believe “activation” is tapping the wire to ground when first turning the ignition on. “Registration” is actually going around to all 4 tires.
Excellent. Thank you!
I also like E,L,O Electric Light Orchestra!👏😁👏 At 1:10 on video!😇🇺🇸🙌👏
Nice job.
I'm gonna try this. Got a used 08 Altima (SL that's in like, PERFECT condition....so that's cool) but i had to fix a few things. New VC gasket. No biggie. Still got a tiny tiny oil leak but she is built like a Nissan. Perfect.
I have spent the last 4 hours doing everything i could with the TPMS in learn mode. Clearing the ecu's cmos/BIOS(aka disconnect battery for 5 minutes). I've learned that the stock 215/60/16s are HIGHLY affected by heat.
Did the driver fr 34psi, Pass Fr 31psi, Pass rr 29psi, and Driver Rear 26psi several times in learn mode. Clocked over 10 minutes of driving over 50mph, then tried driving around 40mph for 10 mins, then tried different pressure differentials but in sequence...............No luck. Won't get oiut of learn mode. Keeps flashing.
I think you have the best video yet. It's 10 bucks and not only will it program the TPMS's, it will almost assuredly check the status of each one!
I have seen zero info on how to troubleshoot each RF xmitter.
The OBD2 tools i have a pretty beefy but nothing will get into the module for TPMS on this nissan. (more futsing around on that)
Just thank you. I'll write back and clean up this meandering post with results tomorrow!
Hmm, One thing I did notice is that you checked the spare. I have checked all my tires and NOT the spare and that is possibly why I can't get the thing to turn off. Thanks Amanda, I will do that. It's easy to forget since on the Xterra it's under the truck and missed it.
I actually did not check the spare tire. It usually doesn't have a TPMS sensor. It can be tough to get the 6 presses with a wire to the ground source within those 10 seconds. I would just go through the same process in case you didn't make the presses in time. Or maybe you have a sensor that needs to be replaced. Battery is dead.
Worked on my 08 Titan
You don't need to waste your money on the tool. While after tapping the wire the TPMS is in learn mode. Drive 25 mph with air pressure low and it will relearn automatically. Then fill the tire/s up to specified psi. Done 👍
Leland Damon
Before buying the tool, I took the time to try that method several times, as well as the different air pressure in each wheel method also described online. Neither worked for me, which is why I went this route and felt the need to post a video. But who knows, maybe I was doing the above two methods wrong??
Tools $10 on eBay dude.
i
Nope
I've looked all over for my reset wire and it's is nowhere to be found on a 2010 Nissan Rogue. :-(
Hello, I have a Nissan Altima that has had that light on for a long time. I have seen that tool my question is, Is that tool for resetting and relearning the sensors ? can it be used to find a bad TPMS sensor ?
Joe zavala I don’t know. Maybe a Google search would give you your answer, or I would recommend contacting the manufacturer
Not likely to fix a bad sensor. Usually it's the battery in the sensor that goes bad which would need to be replaced although it is a hassle and most people just buy a new sensor..
Hope this helps.
I followed your instruction to the end but the tpms light still blinking... what did I do wrong? How do I know if the signal from the tool is received by the BCM? Thanks for sharing.
eagertoknow
I would do the whole process over again, after ensuring that the wire you’re using for grounding is making contact with the wire on the TPMS wire harness AND making sure you’re hitting ground 6 times within 10 seconds. The key has to be in the position right BEFORE starting/engine turn over (“ON”)
BTW mine is 2011 Sentra. I was in the learn mode( TPMS light flashing more than 1 minute), after using the tool going around DF, PF, PR then Driver Rear transmitting codes. I came back inside the car to see if the TPMS light is off but it's still blinking... most likely the BCM did not receive signals from the tool. How do we know if the signal from the tool is received by the BCM? Thanks for your quick answer.
eagertoknow
Sorry man, I don’t know. Does the transmit light illuminate when pressing the button?
Yes, the green LED blinks for about 1 minute then off and the red LED low battery blinks once. This is true every time on all wheels. So when you did your car, what did it do when you pressed the button on the tool? Did the horn beep, the turn signal blink... to let you know that it received the transmitter signal?
eagertoknow
Gosh, this was 3 years and 2 vehicles ago. If I remember right the horn honked every time and the led labeled “tx” lit up. But if your low battery light is illuminating and you know your battery in the tool is good, the batteries in your TPMS sensors in the tires themselves are prob bad. They only last about 5-7 years...
i have a 2007 maxima will try this. Recently changed the alternator brake and battery light were signalling have a new alternator now disconnected the battery cleaned the terminals it went away hopefully it solved this nissans are tricky
girl drives a manual enough said ie. love it it is all I drive
Amanda, did the 4-way flashers flash, or did the horn sound as you activated each sensor ?
Hi, did you put in new tpms sensors and then use this method? Or are these sensors the original factory ones? I just put in 4 new tpms sensors and I am wondering if this method and relearn tool is what I need to turn off the tpms warning light. I have a 2009 pathfinder thanks.
Imran Ali yes. I had just installed my summer tires after taking off winter tires. This method and tool worked for brand new TPMS sensors
All you need to do is set tire pressures to different amounts after you do the tap trick. Set drivers side to normal pressure then clockwise set passenger front to 4 psi less then 4 psi less than that to right rear then 4 psi less than that to left rear. Left rear should be 12 psi less than driver front when done. Then drive the car while the light is still blinking. Eventually the light goes out and then you are all set. Just drive normal speed around the block for 5-10 mins until the light goes out. The light will come back on and stay solid so go home and fill tires now to proper pressure. Next time you drive it the light will go out now that they are all properly set. Enjoy. If light comes back on one of the tpms sensors are bad.
I have 2010 Titan. I put larger tires on it, so I need it to know that 55 psi is what it should read. Is there any difference in the procedure I should use?
it s good work thank you
did work for me on NIssan rogue 2008. This tool is advertised as universal.... but we have no way of knowing if its working or not... I got my tool and put the car in relearn mode ( tap the the wire to OBDII plate to earth it and the tpms light will start blinking...) during the relearn mode... I went to my left front tire and activated the light... nothing happens for 2 whole minutes... so I thought the battery is dead in this one... on to the next one...same... no response...if only this tool had a display to show live data to the user... there is no way to tell if its working or not...the product maybe great but the implementation is bad.
Has this tool kept your tpms light off, or did it ever come back on? Was it like a temporary fix? Or is it out for good?
Barely Legal Tattoo
It's out for good... until you replace/change out your tires again...or the battery in the unit dies... But light should stay out (not trigger) for rotation only.
Ok so you think this tool will work for me ? I did have a tire shop use one of there tpms tools to see if each sensor was good and did read on there tool and all of them gave a code but they did not try to reset or do a relearn test on them for me . So I seen your video and wanted to see if you think it will fix mine too . Mine is a 2007 Nissan Frontier se king cab
Barely Legal Tattoo
Yes. It will work to "reset"/"relearn" your tires once in learn mode as described by this video (and this process should be he exact same for your vehicle). It will not give you battery life though.
Barely Legal Tattoo l
Hello Amanda before the learn mode did you change tire pressure on all tire???
philip munoz only made sure they were correct. I didn't do the whole 23-27-30-33 (or whatever it is) deal. Nonsense and not needed.
Good
I can't find the white wire on my 2017 Quest. Can someone please tell me where it is?
Would this work if you are rotating the tires too and you put a sensor into the spare
I can't speak to having all five tires connected to the TPMS, but it does reset completely the 4 tires that are on, so yes, as long as there are sensors in each tire, that should work
Does this work for aftermarket tpms sensors? they are not the same part number but they said they were for Nissan which is what i have
Joe Scott Gosh, I bet so. But don't hold me to that.
Ok thanks
My understanding about these sensors is they have a battery in them and it goes bad afteruse. I had two go out and was told to have all replaced with new sensors. Cost about$125 ea plus u breakdown each tire to replace them.
They do have a battery. You need power to send the signal. But they should last 5-7 years. If one goes out you could consider replacing just the one but the others are soon to follow (likely) so if you have the funds I'd recommend replacing all at the same time.
I agree.
Hi Amanda, "learn mode" is used to program new TPMS sensor ID (not cloned) to your car, right? I have 2 set of wheels and will need to do this every time swapping wheels?
Thanks for sharing!
Ernie Bert: correct... if I understand what you're asking. I had 2 sets (winter/summer tires) and had to do this every fall and spring when I changed the tires back and forth. I had heard some rumor once that each car's main TPMS receiver/module could "remember" up to 10 separate tires but I did not find this to be true.
I have a Nissan pathfinder 2010 , two sensors of the tires are working and showing the amount of air but others are not . How can I fix that ? please help me ....
The sensors are powered by a battery and the ones not reading likely need to be replaced. Expect to pay about $70/sensor for just the part.
+Amanda Schwartz Thanks for your help.
+Amanda Schwartz Do you mean replace the battery or the sensors ?
+Salem77k I would be extremely surprised if you could change just the battery. Usually it's a sealed unit and can only be done by replacing the entire sensor.
+Amanda Schwartz Oh thanks a lot.
Did you replaced the tires sensor .
No. Just switching from winter to summer tires I have to do this everytime.
Did I see 2 OBD2 data link connectors on your truck?
Yup. I bought a splitter on eBay or Amazon. I had an aftermarket code reader/mpg calculator/etc I used and didn't want to take up the only connector's real estate (or have to unplug and plug if I needed to use the reader's harness for something else)
I don’t have that connector on my 2016 Nissan Altima.
Is it okay to replace just two tires on a Nissan Murano 2004
Richard Kandimba You will still have to go through the entire relearn process.
Richard Kandimba make sure you have the TPMS sensors installed on the new rims.
2008 nissan rogue awd. Did NOT work. Had to go to tire shop. Big O Tires. Good video though.
Doesn’t work on 2012 Nissan Titan, unless I’m doing something wrong.
For $15 why not. Its a PIA changing tire pressures and grounding a pin etc.
where did you buy the universal too?thank you
Amazon or eBay
Ok thank you
Tks
Would like to see the dog
All this to reset tire pressure wtf
amanda have you ever considered doing this www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/328044-diy-tpms-canister-pipe-bomb.html
Point of curiosity: "This white wire attached to a harness, I put a copper wire in there..." How about some back story because that sounds so freakin random, like.. So, is it a TPMS signal wire to the ECM...? I mean, I prefer not to short out a $300 system computer so I appreciate your video intent but maybe something like 'Joe showed me to do this, or 'I learned this because I'm an engineer or a smart shadetree mechanic that found data in the tech manual and this is why it works.. Something other than stick a copper wire in this rando white wire pleeeease.

Nice video but when I went out and bought the exact same resetting gizmo it didn't work on my 2008 Nissan. Anybody who wants a slightly used resetting gizmo feel free to give me a call.
I’ll take it if u still have it 3476543712

TPMS is just trash 🗑️
Yeah this is total horse shit. It doesnt work. I sent this thing back.
