    Just a thought but make sure your tires aren’t directional when you rotate them, great video Jason 👍😁

    Exactly what I needed to see. My ocd couldn’t take it anymore. I swapped new wheels and tires and received dashes afterwards. I watched your video and purchased this tool. I agree…the set up is a bit much with their installs and updates, but went by your video and my low pressure light was off by the time I backed out of my garage, and the readouts worked by the time I got to the end of my driveway. One note for someone buying this…during the setup, ensure you choose the correct market. Mine was in Europe and the Tacoma didn’t appear, so my heart sank. Once I counted to ten and breathed a bit, I found my mistake and chose America, and now all is right in the world again. lol

    Another note on tire rotation. I've always done 5 tire rotation on the same scheme as you do and had great success. But once I wondered, hey, what if I would flip tires over on each wheel, like inner side out? Why? To wear more evenly. Well, after flip I've got vibrations, slippages on bumpy curved roads, could not get rid of those and even flipping tires back to what they were did not resolve the issue. So, 5k story short: do not flip tires on wheels! Just rotate them, either 4 or 5 of them and that's it. BTW, great videos, Jason, all of them! Thanks.

    Nice video and clear instructions, had the same problem with my five wheel sensor Landcruiser , Toyota dealer wanted more than $500 to do tyre swaps because of sensors , gave me the run round how they would need to remove tyres to read sensors??? One thing you stretched all the way up to read sensor in the spare. These gadgets will work fine from the opposite side of tyre , no need to get dirty.
    I tend to set the tires up about 2 psi below what is correct and install in car computer. Then fill the extra air after to correct pressure . Do this as winters are cold where I live and the sensor light never comes on!

    So for my 2023 Tacoma, I bought an oem wheel, tire, and sensor and installed when I did a 5 wheel rotation. Then I programed the new one into the ECU, alll is well. I will have to do the program at every rotation, but only takes 5 minutes. I use Autel ST508.

    As long as the tires DO NOT have a directional tire symbol, which is a well defined arrow, you may rotate the tires cross directionally. If the arrow is on the sidewalk with the word rotate, that means the front driver side tire rotates to the rear driver side tire (#1 tire to the #3 tire location) and the passenger side front tire goes directly back to the rear passenger side tire (#2 to #4) and the back wheel come directly forward where #3 moves to #1 and #4 moves to #2. Also, look in your owners manual to see what Toyota recommends.

    I just bought a used 2018 TRD off road 4Runner. It has four of the optional trd alloy wheels one of the previous owners bought. The spare is a standard steel of the same OEM size (265/70R17). The four ‘road’ tires had 50 psi in them! The spare had 20 psi. I brought down the pressure to 35 psi and matched the same with the psi in the spare. My tpms light went nutzoid. I have no individual tire psi indicators. This trim and year does not provide for that. Just a tire icon that flashes. I brought up all five tires to 45 psi (wrong pressure) and the tpms light stopped flashing and is no longer on. I think I need to figure out a plan on how to fix this….. or go without tpms in the future. Or don’t fret about the light staying on.

    I think I found it you have cloned sensors, don’t reset the system while close to your other wheels with sensors. My system, I believe can sense my summer wheels which are in a trailer in my driveway. My warning is on when I leave in the morning AVS comes on when I pull into my parking spot in the driveway. So, I’m assuming or suspect it’s reading my wheels that are in the trailer. I’ve checked all my installed wheels’ pressures and they are good.

    • @RationalMind38
      @RationalMind38 3 місяці тому

      I suspect that the sensor was a low quality aftermarket item, it failed (they fail quickly, sometimes instantly) or wont work with your system (designed for a host of different vehicles, but not designed well for any of them). The TS501 should still sense a good one, that just doesnt work with your vehicle. Not detecting it at all says it has failed. Probably someone went cheap, and sold you junk. I am seeing people say this all over these videos, and that the best is the dealer sensor, designed specifically for your vehicle. They work much better

    Hi Jason,
    I just had my spare rotated im on my 2020 4runner and I am having issues now. Apparently my spare didn’t have a pressure gauge on it, so I paid discount tire to add one. So now all 5 have the sensor. Discount was unsuccessful twice to program the pressure. My low pressure indicator light went off on my dash but the pressure isn’t reading out for the four wheels. Ugh soo annoyed. I didn’t see them relearn the spare in with the main four, though. Maybe that’s it?

      I am seeing all over these videos that cheap aftermarket sensors are not reliable. Dealer sensors intended specifically for your vehicle are much better.

Turn the key on, push the TPMS Reset button until it flashes and goes out. Turn your vehicle on, and drive for 10 minutes. Bring up the Tire Pressure Screen, and it will display blank until the sensors are relocated. Usually takes 5-10 minutes continuous driving. Your Welcome.
