- In today's video we take a look at a 2010 Lexus RX350. The vehicle has had all 4 new tire pressure monitor sensors or tpms sensors replaced. With the growing number of aftermarket or universal tpms sensor brands on the market. It's hard to choose which ones to buy. Should you go with the aftermarket or the OEM sensors? Do they require programming or are they plug and play? What tool do you need if programming is required? Follow along as I answer some of the most commonly asked questions. Then I show you how a tool like the Launch CRT5011e can be used to write OEM sensor ID's into the cars computer and how it can be used with it's own proprietary universal sensors.

I'm never selling my 1970 VW
The computer tools you need to work on these new cars cost more then the car is worth!
This is absolutely true......
Awesome video, Ordered one
TPMS sensors should be a factory option. Or at least have a switch that permanently disables the system without having any warning lights.
ATG has been teaching & telling thousand of people to change the battery. No need to buy this $250 tool just to do 1 time.
Them you run the vehicle for about 17 miles & the control panel's TPMS sensor will go away.
I done it on a Porsche 959 and got $95,000.00. And the client was very happy.
If anyone think it can't be done or want to know more, reply with your email address here.
good review !!!!1
So was watching your video and noticed that sensor was marked as "MADE In JAPAM"... You say it's an OEM sensor? ;-)
Decent video, but I will disagree when you say that most generic TPMS sensors don't come pre-programmed. There are TONS of them available that are pre-programmed, and only a relearn is necessary. I've done that numerous times with generic TPMS sensors with an Autel TS508 which is a similar process as the Launch. Each programmer brand tends to use only their own brand of programmable TPMS sensors.
One thing to note: Lexus uses hexadecimal numbers on their TPMS sensors. However, replacement universal sensors may have a regular serial number on them. So, all you have to do is use a hexadecimal number converter from a Google search and enter the numbers into the vehicles computer. I ran into this issue after I purchased aftermarket sensors from Amazon that advertised no programming was necessary. However, they didn't work because they broadcasted their serial numbers in non hexidecimal format.
Do you program the sensor or make commercials for tools?
One of your tyres was showing 47 psi, but you went ahead and read that figure anyway and put it into the car ECU. So when you next drive it you will need to deflate that one tyre to match the others. When you do that the tyre light will come on as you have gone beyond the parameters of the sensor. Always set the tyres to the correct pressure before you do anything else.
Excellent video. I was thinking of replacing a few bad tpms sensors on my 2004 Lexus GX470. I have been told that many aftermarket sensors don’t work well with lexus or toyota. So I figured i should just get OEM Lexus ones. Do you know if you need valve install kits if you buy them nee from the dealership??
I also read that if you accidentally hit the reset button on the vehicle, you possibly have to unlock the ecm. Have you ever ran into that problem?
I have had great luck with the Launch tpms! Launch sensors is all we use at the shop. Thanks for another great video Eric!
Have you ever installed launch sensors on lexus gx470? I heard many aftermarket sensors don’t work well with Toyota and Lexus
Does the nut torque from a new set depend on the sensor you are installing a new set on? Or that torque is the same for any sensor it fits on?
For example, the original TPMS sensor require 65 in-lbs (2009 Nissan Sentra), but new service kit for the nut included in that set gives 35 in-lbs. I didn't look before on the packet of the service kit and installed w/63 in-lbs. The car was driving perfectly fine like for 2 years. Now I'm replacing the wheels and moving the TPMS sensors fm old wheels to the new ones. I'm replacing the service kit items of course (nut, washer, gasket, and Schrader Valve). Here it came to my attention the printed value of the nut torque on the small packet for the new kit (35 in-lbs). So I don't know what torque to apply 65, 35 or smth in between (especially as everything was fine and with 65). I inspected the previous service kit nuts, which were used for 2 years, and which were under 63 in-lbs instead of 35, they were fine, no hairline cracks on them. I would appreciate any opinions on this matter.
Hello from Morocco , thanks men for all ur educational videos ♥️

Do you have any handmade rugs for sale??
Millions of thanks bro. You are the teacher, I have learned a lot from you, I hope all the success to you and your family in your whole life. They say : Whoever teaches you a letter, he is your teacher. Warmest greetings to you from the lovely city of Duhok / Kurdistan Region.
Agreed
They come programed now
Thank God my 07 TL doesn't need programming. Just plug and play and the ECM does the rest.
So I bought the exact same tool CRT 5011E that you are demonstrating . When I go into TPMS OBD II it will not show vehicles original TPMS serial numbers or anything. It does work when I aim the tool at the sensor on the tire. But when I try to read it off the OBD II HOOKED UP TO THE CAR’S COMPUTER NOTHING. So do I send it back or am I doing something wrong? I am working on a 2010 Toyota Tacoma. I bought this because you were demonstrated get on a Lexus, which is Toyota.
I'm struggling with this tool will not clone new sensors!
Does the TPMS need to be the same Launch brand in order to work with this Launch TPMS programming device? Or the TPMS could be any other brand?
All sensors come with their own ID. None are blank. That tool reads the new sensor, activates them, then allows you to transfer these new IDs to the ecu.
Merci.
I replaced with an aftermarket tpms sensor on my Chevy traverse and had no issue doing a relearn with a $25 relearn tool.
Gm /Chevy are much easier to learn then most vehicles with cheap relearn tool. I think you can program some model with the factory remote also.
I just bring my crv to dealer and they suggest to change the four sensors for 890$ thats too much so I declined the service.
You did not say this tool only works with Launch tyre sensors,!
Very good, and repeating was indeed necessary to set it straight in the viewer’s mind.
Can I intall a one third party sensor alongside with already 3 installed original sensors working fine currently ?
Doesn't that only work on programmable sensors? What if you get non programmable after market sensors?
KIA have a system that uses the ABS so nothing fitted in the tyre. Much better.
Didn’t you have to set the tire pressure (per the door placard) and press the ‘set’ button under the dash by the driver’s right knee?
Thank you for yet another great video. Please keep it up.
Or replace the battery in the original sensor 😭💯
One thing to note, the tire pressures should be set to the door jamb placard before training or relearning, as the PCM receives the current pressure and assumes it is correct for triggering the warning low pressure. At least that’s how I understand it to work with universal sensors…
You can do it afterwards: fill to correct pressure and press the set button by the driver’s knee.

The computer is ridiculously expensive, as are the TPMS valve stems if purchased from a tire shop or dealer ($200 a set vs. $50 a set from Amazon). BUT you need the $300 computer to make them work. LOL. TPMS is just another grotesquely expensive Gucci add-on for morons that won't check the air pressure occasionally.
True... until it became law.
Can this programmer work with non launch sensors
Awesome video. Since you registered OEM sensors on a 2010 Lexus I should be able to do the same with my 2011 Toyota Avalon. Thanks for the detailed video. Well done Sir.
A decent shop would also programme new sensors
i got a autel ts508, am i using it wrong or this machine does not let me write into the computer ecu like the one you used? (My sensor are new oem)
Hello to all friends, what do you recommend best of the TPS Oem or aftermarket? I need to install my 4 tires of this 2004 Mercedes Benz E500 4matic sedan. Thank you
Toyota dealer wanted $450 for ONE tpms OEM replacement!!! Went to a reputable tire shop and they did all four tires with Autel aftermarkets for $280. I usually only want OEM parts on my car but I could not spend an extra $1500 just for sensors.
I've got a Skoda Superb (VAG Group), it has TPMS but much to my surprise it has no sensors...go figure that one!
It may use an indirect system much like Honda does. Here is a video that explains how it works. ua-cam.com/video/VORM_DTg7ns/v-deo.html
Yah that system is much better because it uses wheel speed to tell if it has the correct air
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO It uses the ABS sensors to notice a difference in wheel rotation speed on each axle. You zero the sensors and if there's a difference of 15% or more on one axle it knows a tyre has deflated and brings up the warning. It's not specific to what tyre has deflated so unless it's obvious you have to gauge all 4 tyres.
I have a code C2124 on my 2014 Toyota RAV4. ( Tpms ID4 not received). Is it possible for you to fix it. How can I contact you?. I’m in Fort Bend county. Appreciate your reply?
On my 2010 acura csx same as honda civic l have two set of rims & tires winter& dimmer I bought a set of aftermarket tpms sensors would the Launch CRT5011E program it when I install my summer tires withe tge aftermarket tpms sensors
Is this able to program for a 2014 Lexus GS350? I didn't the model listed when you selected the RX model. Would like to know before I purchase on amazon. Thanks!
Does anyone know which TPMS tool is compatible with Geartronics TPMS 315 mhz sensors? I bought them before i saw this video. A commenter said the Foxwell T1000 tool would but wanted some agreement before i bought one.
Didnt mention about driving before setting sensors to wake them up, I just mention that because I changed them on a Ford transit van and I couldn’t get them to program I bought them off of Amazon and thought they were faulty. That was before I realized you have to drive first to wake up the sensors. I would imagine that you would not have to do that though with the tool that you have there
I would expect the signal from the tool should wake the sensor up.
I read that you can deflate them by 10lbs. and that is suppose to activate them also, without driving them
Merci.
Good explanations. Thanks.
One of my sensors broke and I had it replaced with a standard rubber valve steam. I no longer have the broken sensor. Would I still be able to “clone” the new sensors without the one old broken one. I still have three other sensors working on the truck. I’d like to replace all four of them
I just put some new rims, tire and sensor on my car, just by me putting those new wheels on my car the sensors automatically was picked up by my car I don’t know how but the tire shop didn’t had to do anything
Hey my brother just wondering if you ever got the opportunity to film at that Supercar collection. Replaced it had that extraordinary AMG Mercedes I look on your Channel all the time I'm subscribed and I never saw anything there but I was wondering if maybe it was with somebody released on another Channel just wondering that was a really unique car collection. Keep up the great work my friend
Thanks brother I’m locksmith just buy rx350 for my daughter and have 3 bad sensors I going to buy the launch and program my self
there is not LEXUS GS series
Nice video brother...well done
We don't appear to have that tool in the UK. Over here the same looking tool is the sold by autel. Surprisingly for twice the price. Unless anyone knows better?
This did not work for Hondas
I bought new sensors, I thought one was dead. It was not. The device relearning the sensor and the light is off. The light has been on for about a year and a half. Thanks
Hola buenas tardes! soy de república dominicana y tengo un Chevrolet Aveo5 LT Hatchback 2009 1.6, VIN: KL1D66E09B661110. Ese escaner serviría para mi vehículo? Gracias anticipadas por tu orientación.
Can I install tpms sensors on my winter rims on my acura csx 2010 & when I install my summer tires fo I have to reprogram it
Oh what a tangled web we weave! Fortunately my local service station (yes it still is) are all too happy to check/adjust tyres and pump the fuel. They seem to prefer it to letting the punters spill petrol around and infect their nozzles and tyre gauges...
I bought this tool base on this video and its nothing but problems it wouldn't write ID into mercedes sprinter and also it will show wrong pressures, i have to fix it with the autel
Great video! Can u explain how to do the cloning procedure for blank sensors. Thank u!!
Saludos amigo Eric from north Houston
On my G35, I saved lots of money buying the aftermarket sensors. Just wait until you need new tires so your Tire Store doesn't charge extra for a mounting charge.
The menus in my Autel TS508 look exactly the same as in your Launch (the sensor relearn screen is a direct match, too). Both tools probably have the same circuit boards. They're a great value and easy to use!
Will your device read all sensors beside OEM? This device does NOT read the Battery life of the sensors?
It not that serious gee.
I bought that same one, I updated it and I changed the home screen and it doesn't work, how can I put the version that it brought?
Thanks for posting have a 2012 Honda accord have a tpms code i do have alltell scanner.
im a second owner of a car that doesn't come with the original tpms sensors! they lost it. what to do?
I have two sets of rims & and tires, a winter set & summer set so when I swap it back to the summer set do I have to reprogram that summer set of tires
Could you use like Napa tpms sensors with oe programming options?
What if you don't have an old sensor or it's completely dead.
You can read the ID’s from the car’s computer then copy them to the new sensors.
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO il existe un outil pour lire seulement l'identité d'un nouveaux capteur OE ? Merci.
Hello could you give the information to the shop? I'd really appreciate it.
How can you program 8 sensors so you can swap tires between summer and winter season without reprogramming?
I wanted to ask you we installed 2 new TPMS sensors in the back of our Toyota sienna so I'm guessing the next step would be to do a relearn, am I correct ?
Oui
I noticed the scanned appeared to also ask for the spare, do you program it also?
What if some tire shop smashed your sensor and it's no longer available
hi ,i jus havd a question ,does it support chinese car i mean is there chinese brand in the menu?
Thanks for the video
Good work 👍
Air bag on thoe
do you have any instruction video to fix the VSA for honda accord?
Hello, please can this tools be able to program, keys as well?
Will the Lauch work on Nissan Altima sensors ?
This foo talk like a gang member
WTF is wrong with you!?! He’s one of the most competent diagnostics technicians on the ‘net. Be thankful he’s sharing his knowledge with us.
"Made in Japam" LOL 7:57
Good eye! I’m pretty sure the car lot bought these sensors online. They are probably fake OEM Pacific sensors.
And "torque" was misspelled too. Definite counterfeits.
Were the replacement sensors Toyota/Lexus sensors?
I was NOT able to get check sensor information working. I'm talking about the one you direct access via the main menu which give you sensor voltage info.
That function on the main menu is for the Launch sensors only. To read other sensors you have to select the vehicle year, make and model first.
Thank you for this precise explanation and remedy!
I just use a tire gauge.
One of my friends put regular old fashioned valve stems on his car. Then bought a container with new sensors in it, pressurized the container to 35 pounds and set the car to the new sensors. Finally putting the container in the trunk. With a magic marker writing the date of replacement on it. I thought it was slick.
why would your friend do that? slick? i hate to say this but that was kinda dumb. 😂
Awesome video! Does the tool rest oil change light?
U can't clone an OEM PART!
Comment tu fais ?
Yup. I did that exactly. Clone the aftermarket sensor with the old oem id sensor and the car thinks nothing is wrong. Only thing is you have to ensure you get the right tmps sensor as different brand cars uses different freqency. But then again, the newer (more expesnive) aftermarket tmps sensor has both frequency so you don't have second guess. However, I do notice this takes a slight longer for the system read sensor as it have pick up the correct frequency and correct id output data the car is looking. It does work nicely and does save you some money if you choose this route than oem tmps sensors.
Where can you take your car to get it programmed
Mostly any tire shop can do it. If you live in the U.S. Most Discount Tire locations will do it free of charge.
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO thank you
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO Nah. I doubt they will do it free anymore. Unless you are going to change the tpms sensor, it's not going to be free. If you are going to change the TMPS sesnor, the cost to program and install the new sensor is already factor in, which will probably be the cost of installing a tire cost (mount and dismount).
What aftermarket sensor was used with this tool. My shop manager cannot find the launch brand sensors in the auto part stores that we deal with.
amzn.to/3MVsh84
Nice explanation of programming sensors.
Hi Eric. I have a question for you. If can answer it I will appreciate it. If a car has aftermarket sensors (not Launch ones) would this product be able to read their ID? Thanks.
He mentioned that it will only read the launch one or factory OEM ones
@@raiderman28 Thanks for clarifying that.
Hello do you take customers?
As always good information and delivery, thank you
