- EM•1® is a dynamic product that has dozens of uses. In this video we will show you some of the most common.
Effective Microorganisms™ is available in the Continental United States exclusively from EM America. Dr. Higa's Original Formula.

I've had real trouble getting the built up soap out of my washing machine. I added this to the longest rinse cycle. I could see the water gradually foam more and more. Asvtge cycle went through the water clarified. On opening the washing machine the smell of gone off soap had gone. I think it could do with another run through but wow, very pleased.
I tried all sorts of in wash cleaners (from natural companies). It only seemed to dent the problem rather than make a difference it needed. Looking forward to seeing what the clothes smell like after the next wash cycle.
We have had tests done with EM-1 and survival of microbes with chlorinated water. The EM-1 can withstand several times more than what is the EPA standard for treatment. For the most part it is not a concern regarding tap water and EM-1.
What about Chloramine?
I’ve even used this as a facial wash and it cleared my acne!
Pretty amazing stuff!
@@Teraganix kkkk no pun intended Hahahahahaha
I like the idea of spraying microbes on plants. For sure it's important for the plant growth. But I would strongly discourage use of chlorinated tap water. Chlorine is there to kill microorganisms. Best to use rainwater or spring water, or let water stand for a while.
Can we use EM 1 after diluted to the water or we need to ferment it for week before to use?
It’s working well, it’s proven from many farmers, I’ve done it too, thanks for sharing,
Good to hear
salamat sa share sis
Tq. Well documented.
If you have a compost contaminated with an herbicide, will EM1 break down the herbicide residue?
I have seen it can breakdown toxins but haven't managed to research exactly what as yet. It would be great to see a citation on this work.
Great info. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
I'm a little confused as I watched another video showing how to activate EM-1 by mixing with molasses and fermenting. But on your website it says To make activated EM-1, just fill the reservoir of a hose-end sprayer with EM•1®, as you would with any fertilizer, and spray all your plants.
We got that corrected. To activate mix a 1:1:20 ratio of EM-1:molasses:water, put in an airtight container, allow to ferment for about 10 days. The final pH should be between 3.2 and 3.8.
Can we culture and perpetuate the live cultures by just buying 1 bottle? Thanks
You can activate only 1 time. If you keep doing it, the balance of the groups of microbes changes and several of the microbes die.
Can i used EM1 for dead grass??
Is this the same as lactic bacterial acid
Are you doing more research to discover and add more beneficial microbes to em? I love em1 and expecting more from your research . Please do all the needs to keep the product cheap as wel, which is the key
There is no need to add more microbes to the product. Our last results we hundreds of millions of cfu's.
From the functional point of view,,what is the difference between activated and concentrate form of EM1 aside of the molasses part..?
Does it’s need always to make activated EM1 ready to be diluted later when watering for household plant watering ..? Or simply mix with water is enough..?
You don't need to activate EM-1 to molasses and wait for 7 days fermentation. The reason a lot of people activate EM•1 is to make more of it that's it. You can directly dilute it in water and spray in your garden.
I'm trying to wrap my head around using it as a cleaning agent…Does it just kill off the bad pathogens?
jetle25 it doesn't kill...it eats them:) its better to apply something beneficial than to wipe the slate clean. when you get rid of one thing completely you create a space for something else to live in.
There are papers published on its ability to suppress several pathogens.
Can i use EM1 to get rid of cockroaches or other insects?
Can you use EM-1 on seeds
Yes. Use 1tsp per gallon of water and soak the seeds for 10 to 30 minutes, depending on size. Personally, I like to put the seeds on a towel and spray it with the solution above and fold the towel over. I've had seeds sprout overnight.
How should I store EM1? Do I need to mix EM1 with Molasses? I am wanting to use EM1 on my indoor plants. Thank you for the info!
em1 is now too expensive you can make your own em1 9tbs molasses and 9 tbs EM1 mix them in 1 gallon then store them in shade area.
Store the EM-1 in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. You do not have to make the activated EM, but it does save you quite a bit of money. Only make what you need for a month to 6 weeks at a time and dilute with water for application.
Can I put em -1 in the wormhotel? Or in bokashi bin?
You can put it in both.
Why would you use suggest using tap water? If it’s not well water it’s chlorinated and will kill the EM1.
If EM-1 can clean up radioactivity I'm sure chlorine is not a challenge.
Been trying to find if this is safe or works for breaking down fish poop in a aquaponic system.
EM-1 is extensively used in aquaculture, especially in shrimp production.
I plan on testing in my little outdoor water area. I've seen interesting info on how it can clean and balance water.
Can I use EM1solution for fish pond
Yes, it is used in raising fish around the world. Calculate the volume of water in (gallons or liters) and divide by 10,000. That is how much activated EM-1 you need to apply every month. Divide by 4 and that is how much per week. Simply pour anywhere into the pond and keep applying regularly throughout the year.
What does the neutral microbes do . Is azospirillum , myccoriza are neutral or good ones
Lol Google?
They flourish when EM-1 is applied.
This video shows em-1 being used directly without activating. Is it effective ? I'm confused, somebody please clarify .tluangpuia AZ.India.
Activating is for economics, not efficacy. There is no difference in effects between using EM-1 out of the bottle and using Activated EM-1.
Can i use internally?
We have PRO EM-1 Probiotic for human consumption.
is it good for chicken and other pets?
Yes. Add to drinking water at 1:2000 and add Bokashi at a rate of 1% to 3% of the total feed ration.
For chickens at least it's a probiotic and boosts feed rate conversion. Not sure about ratios the reply above seems to give an idea.
plz growers don't spray bud with this only in veg. DON'T spray your BUD only in veg on leaves and stems
+Jon Cena sure would be nice if you learnt some grammar, like commas..
mudslinger888 learned*.... i didn't think it was needed in order for u to understand my message
Why not? We have many growers that do foliar apps up until a few days before harvest...
Is this safe to ingest?
Yes. Made in a food grade facility with all GRAS ingredients.
Will this keep insects or pests away?
Not exactly. It improves soil and plant health, but is not an insecticide.
These days there are a bunch of essential oil products on the market that work well as insecticides.
How to make EM1 please tesch me the procedure thsnks
You can purchase EM-1 and make Activated EM-1.
@@Teraganix hm pweding lbc nasa kabacan cotabato ako
How to make EM 1...,,tq
You don't make EM-1, you can use it direct from the bottle or activate it.
5:01 Just spray your dog with EM-1, LOL! Why not...
this company is making it sound like they invented this product and have even used EM-1 as the product name, EM-1 just stands for effective microorganisms and has been made for hundreds of years in KNF, You can easily make this yourself at home with a very easy recipe, dont fall for this....
EM-1 is not the same as these wild cultures that are taught in KNF. EM-1 was created, or 'discovered, as Dr. Teruo Higa likes to call it, in the 1960's. There are similarities, mainly in the fact that KNF recipes are pretty much just lactobacillus cultures. However, the EM-1 contains three groups of microbes: Lactic Acid Bacteria, Yeast, and Photosynthetic Bacteria in certain balance that one cannot simply make at home.
Dr. Teruo Higa made it at home and so can anyone else! BUT they've been perfecting their recipe and they also have 40-60 years of RND. I doubt our "EM1" would be as good as theirs especially on our first try. Im about to go test teraginx EM1 now :)
Actually im in the desert
Hundreds of years in knf??? Whatever mate knf is not even one hundred years old let alone hundreds what a joker
so its okay to use mix EM1, a bacterial concoction with... tap water...treated with chlorine that kills bacteria , to spread in your garden. . . Again a bacteria solution mixed with chlorine, a bacterial killing chemical to spread in the soil...
